catch-me-slippin
[08] Mercenary
Okay everyone this is my first post so here goes. I have read tons of other people's posts and have finally reached a conclusion.
I don't know who thinks that spamming is going to get you anywhere, it won't so stop doing it. And besides its annoying. Secondly, to the people who say "rinse and repeat", that is never a good idea. If you stick to the same string of moves, your opponent will catch on and beat you horribly. I even heard one guy say,"i pick sophitia and use the same 3 moves over and over and beat everyone". Really? you beat everyone? I seriously doubt that anyone can beat me using only 3 moves. And thirdly, i am sick and tired of people saying that a half or a third of a character's move list is stupid or unaffective. I seems that a lot of people have never learned the lesson of being unpredictable. I use 7 characters, all well, and use every single move in their move set as I always find uses for them. Now don't get me wrong, some moves are better than others, But the element of surprise sometimes makes those otherwise considered "crappy" moves more useful than "good" moves if they hit your opponent because he or she wasn't used to reacting to that particular move. Of course speed must be taken into account. Don't just input random moves just for the sake of being unpredictable, have a sense of direction. Think of it as a balance between good moves and weird moves, keep your opponent guessing. And one other thing, people tend to spend far too much time learning JF moves or guaranteed juggles. Rather than going this route to learn, you should get a FEEL for your characters movements and properties. Learn all the moves first, then get comfortable with the timing and distance. Learn how to kick their ass on their feet before you learn how to juggle them in the air or hit them when their down with a vertical or something. I promise you, learning the stand up game first, everything else will follow. Always be on your guard, sometimes my finger is automatically blocking after certain moves i execute. This is due to expected punishment. As far as "unsafe" moves as people like to call them, try not to do those often, but when you do, let it be a surprise. Your opponent may get the "oh crap" syndrome where he is scared out of his wits and doesn't know what to do, that's when you got em. When your opponent doesn't know what to expect, you have effectively put fear in him and have crippled his competitive mindset and thus, you will crush him. Any more thoughts or soul calibur philosophy?
