Under Night In-Birth; from the makers of Melty Blood

Windstar

[13] Hero
A bunch of videos surfaced recently of UNIB showcasing the cast. This is French Bread's first HD 2D fighter.

Yuzuriha

Hyde

Gordeau

Orie

Carmine

So anyone interested in the game. Despite some generic designs, the game play looks pretty good. Although, I don't really know how user-friendly this game will be, or whether it will ever receive a console or western release. Those of you who've played Melty Blood will likely be able to answer this question better than I can (never played the series).

Purely from an aesthetic perspective, I liked Yuzuriha's design. Seeing game play of her now, I'm finding her fighting style rather interesting. How about you guys? Any characters here look interesting enough to main?

Might see a console release but not a western release unfortunately. I like MB alright but I probably won't bother with this game just because it's too inaccessible making it too hard to garner any interest locally.

There looks to be absolutely nothing wrong with this game, other than the fact that French Bread is such a small developer. I'm happy to see they've got a high-rez fighter with 3d backgrounds I think that's awesome, but I don't know how many people will play it. That said, I like the character designs, even if they're generic, because I can see the influences. Carmine is a cross between Iori and a Dead Man Wonderland villain, Orie has a persona/stand and Vatista is the result of a genetic experiment involving Rachael Alucard and Lambda-11 DNA. Somebody help me out though, who does Yuzuriha remind me of?

....maybe a little Baiken as well?

well, actually, this game might be released on PC just like Melty Blood was. That's what I'm thinking cause that's what I played Melty Blood on.

Well the influences I see for the character is:

Mai with her coat move.

Jin Kisaragi/johnny/kohaku with the quick draw technique

Aoko From melty blood with the personality.

If i import this ill use Yuzuriha and Seth since they look like my type of characters.

Im looking forward to messing around with Yuzuriha, Seth, Linne and Carmine.

That is of course if this game makes it statewide.

Imagine if Johnny had full screen slashes like that?

It won't make it stateside. French Bread didn't even give a fuck when MB made it to EVO, they just don't care about the western audience.

I don't see any resemblances to fighting styles in the characters beyond typical fighting game elements (zoning rush down, etc). Rather, what I see tend to be typical anime and fight game character tropes. Carmine definitely has that orochi blood Iori vibe coming from him. All the female characters have fairly popular tropes. Orie is the elegant lady, Yuzuriha is the big sister, Vatista is the emotionless child, Linne is the silent assassin/tomboy/heroine.

My remarks weren't so much based on the fighting styles, but based on the design and personality tropes of the cast. As far as fighting styles go, they look fairly unique, including Hyde.

On that note does anyone notice that Gordeau fights with one hand? I wonder if he has a boss mode form where he'll fight with both his hands.

Honestly, Yuzuriha reminds me more Vergil than any other iaido fighter. The extra long range and unsafe slashes, the speedy teleports, the "coat". Although I am still trying to understand how her ABC slashes/rekka works.

Look wise i can see it but how she actually plays is totally different. She actually has Johnny's slash moves and his teleport while holding the sword. Just with 17 times the range.

Vergil doesn't use the coat lol and her slashes are actually fairly safe.

Hell to be honest she looks a LOT like Senna from Big Bang Beat Revolve. Senna also uses her coat.

This combo is just a tiny thing though.

So I noticed that Yuzuriha has some swagger...

She starts whistling/singing every time she walks backwards. You can even see musical notes floating above her. Its a nice touch. Kind of reminds me of Rachel's (from BB) idle crouch animation where she falls asleep if you hold down long enough.

EDIT: Apologies about the quality of this video, but I couldn't find a better quality video. Here's an SBO Pre-release tournament of the game. Its about an hour long and starts around the five minute mark. Haven't seen all of it yet, but it seems there's a few interesting elements that my original video postings didn't catch.
