Seriously, which one to trust? I mean, the latter had ZWEI fighting alongside Istvan Bosckai, which the former omitted, for example.

Website has undergone a lot of editing recently, straight up altering or removing some things, which people like to think is a sign of how V's story may well be retconned, at least in parts.

Personally I'll trust the next game. Though I guess István Bocskai had similar ideals to what ZWEI has so it'd make sense, but that can be discussed here: http://8wayrun.com/threads/soul-calibur-remedial-history.17308/page-2

But why on Earth would Hoshino do something like that? I mean, what, was he too impatient in regards to UDON translating New Legends of Project Soul?

Because he knows that a lot of people didn't like the story and characters changes, and had the bios revised in advanced to allow him to retcon the changes Daishi made. Hoshino's basically cleaning up Daishi's mess.

Maybe he didn't want to reference a real life person? Shouldn't seem too surprising, as E.I.N. has been renamed to "Minion".

But doesn't that make it a plot hole, since prior to duking it out at SCV's denouement, Nightmare says, "The Werewolf," with ZWEI saying he's glad to have heard Dumas being Nightmare, with that dialogue implying they met before, which New Legends of Project Soul supports, but got nuked thanks to Hoshino.

Also, if it's a matter of not wanting to use a real-life person, what about Oda Nobunaga being responsible for chopping off Yoshimitsu I's arm?
