Hi, here is the first announcement about the next world game cup we will organize in Europe (France).

The last one on Soulcalibur was in 2004, when the American team won the tournament againt france in the team battle, and Aris defeated DTN in the single tournament.

If you were not there, it was like... this :

This time, the competition is back in the same place, same concept, but with more cash price !

In the main event for Soulcalibur, 3 big tournaments will take place :

- the single tournament.
- the team 5vs5 tournament, open to any teams...
- the world team cup, only open to the national dream teams of each country...

More infos will come in october with the oppening of the official website.
We will have special low price for foreigners (flat, motel...)

Last thing, Malek (Evo's 2K9 winner and Captain of the french team btw) will be the contact for foreigners in this event. You can PM him, if you have any question.

1st edition, 2004 : American players win (vs France in finals) what was the biggest Soul Calibur event ever held
2nd edition, 2006 : Japanese players win most trophies
Who will win 3rd edition ?!


CONCEPT

The World Game Cup's goal is to bring together the best fighting game players during 5 days. It is held in the renowned Palais des Festivals at Cannes, during the "Festival International des Jeux" (international games festival). This event will feature solo tournaments, team tournaments, and exhibitions matches. As it is also intended to be a show, all events will be viewable - for free - by the audience.

The World Game Cup will hold several "open" tournaments : any fighting game player can attend without prior qualification.

The World Game Cup is made of two parts :
- The "Main Event", international, which will be the major feature of this competition
- Smaller, minor tournaments

Notes:
- every tournaments are solo tournaments (except if specified)
- only the main event tournaments are doted with cash prices
- the world team cup of Soulcalibur 4 is an exhibition independent from the main event with its own dotation
- all the king of fighters tournaments are organised on arcade

REGISTRATION AND PRIZE MONEY

You can register on the website (open in November 2009), or directly at the event. We recommend online as there might not be enough openings on the spot.

Only the "Main Event" tournaments will have a cash prize. 100% of the subscription fees will go to the pot, bringing the total amount to over € 10.000 *

Will there be some form of arrangement for accommodation like the last time round?

Hallo SantanaXXX! I remember you... The Singapore team who went to 2004 mentioned you fondly... I was very far away.. in my little home.. on the other side of the world... =(
 
I'll see about making it to this.. it will depend how much money I have by then..

If Vader is allowed then I will be very excited to go. If not, then it's cool, I'll respect your rules.
 
Damn I soooooooo want to go to this but by the gods I dislike the X360 Controller and i'm a pad user. Is there anyway around the X360 issue such as having a modified PS3 contoller that works on 360 or maybe running PS3's if most people in France use sticks anyway

Because I would so try my hardest to make this but I don't want to fail before I get there lol. I simply cannot navigate the 360 pad so such info would help tremendously.

So in a nutshell do u allow modded pads or can u run this on the PS3 for this occasion (only if its reasonable as i'm just curious if not cool).

Also National Dream Teams of each country sound sweet. I am assuming this also means that u can't have duplicate characters on the same team right or can u?
 
Well, the full rules are not settled yet.

It will be announced on the official website.

Nevertheless, I'm almost sure of the following infos :

- It should be on XBox360 but not 100% sure right now. BUT, if it is confirmed on 360, we will have some adaptators with 0 lag (ask malek if you don't believe me !) for PS3 controller so NO problem whatever the console is... And modded pad will be allowed anyway...

- Vador SHOULD be banned, as the other star wars chars... But once again, wait for the official confirmation of the Gnouz Corporation which hold the event.

- No duplicate characters in the same team for the team battle (unlike cannes 2004). Can you imagine a team with 5 hilde ??? lol NEVER !!!

Excellent and thanks so either which way I can use a PS3 pad. Count me in for this most definitely as long as I save up the money for it in time. I'ma start saving this very moment. Damn I cannot wait. I love international mashups or just mashups in general so i'm hype!

The team info is good to know as now for the States team who is gonna be on it is worth actually talking about! lol at 5 Hilde's damn that would suck!
 
SU at our nationals in Germany we used adapters on the 360, there is ZERO lag, everybody was happy.

So of course you should be able to use your PS3 Pad!

And btw of course i'll be there.

definitely there are adapters that have no lag, I've played one at last Ranking during my visit in france. there are adapters both for PS2 controllers and PS3 controllers

OT: is it possible to find even the opposite, X360=>PS3? Well that could solve any platform issue. But I still have nightmares with SC2 and laggy adapters.

well, I cannot answer in advance for the Gnouz Corporation and the world cup.

I can just say that the rules of the world cup will probably be a copy of the ones we use in France for the soulIV events, which are :

- Algold, star wars chars and bonus chars are banned.

I know this is not the commun rule in the US, but that the way the world cup will be I guess...

I was wondering what brand of adapter is it that you use and where can I purchase one from. Because if it really is lag less that would solve all my problems in general when it comes to X360 fighting games. Can u PM it to me or link me in here if u don't mind. Thanks!
 
I'll be there so I really hope to see people who were at Evo and Nats and others who couldn't come !!!! :)
I can tell you it will be more impressive than Evo so you all have to come here in France :)
