This is hard to define really since what one player finds fun another might not, but I had a lot of thread transitioning from nightmare to cassandra. They're both very mobile characters and her abundance of solid safe poking tools was really fun to mess around with. She also has cool combos and a good grab game. Just a personal opinion.

Depends on your manliness level. We got Astaroth or Algol, but I am sure you want to keep your friend. So what about Raphael? He's easy to pick up, because all of his tools suck he won't interfere with your NM game. The thing about picking up secondaries is that they mess with your main.

All nightmare main players play Ralph as a secondary. From Keev to Shen Rii. Its just a fact haha.

Edit: Rii's Ralph is very strong and he's got some surprising tools at his disposal.

i'm surprised, if you pick up raph as a secondary certain skills you pick up with nightmare are not used (learning to apply RO, wall combos, tech traps, dead traps, when to gamble for big combos), what they have in common is frightening speed at range, combined with similar risk/reward options on stance entries. I guess you can just focus on what raph can do that nightmare cannot (poke the hell outta the opponent)

Apparently Rii's discovered a lot of stuff recently which gives him tons of deadtraps and must blocks. All of which is done to break your soul gauge.

This NM player fucking hates Raph. In fact, I don't even second any character anymore. I only play NM, period.

I main disadvantaged characters like NM and Sieg so I can second Sophie, Algol and Amy without being a tier whore - it's fabulous ^_^
On a side note, I hate raph to - not the character, the players: They... ... Smell funny...

And the fact that they're all weird. Yeah, shit's funny.

Lol Xeph, who is it? It's Juece isn't it...I know someone's Raph pissed you off hella bad. I notice how aggressive you get when I pick him...haha

I second Zasalamel sooo........ not sure about my status as a NM player according to Engared :P

I find its a good fit for me just because you need very strong basics to use Zasalamel effectively, and that helps my NM game with mixups and working with frame advantage/disadvantage.

Its in this ranking order from what i see :P :
1. Ralph
2. Zasa
3.Sophie
4. Asta
5. Tira

I use Asta, Rock, Sophie, X, Ralph and Sieg in addition to NM

Raph. There's no L, except at the end of his name.
Raphael.

On topic, I feel that Nightmare is one of the most unique characters in the game in terms of playstyle. It's hard to compare other characters to him to come up with a second...

Maybe I'll jump on the Raphael second train sometime. I always needed to learn him anyways because I have no idea how to fight against him.
