Official SCV Stage Discussion

Right or wrong, there's no excuse to start trolling people. I think you could have been a wee bit more tactful, Idlemind.

Sorry man, that's not how I roll. At least not with stupid persistent forum drama from members who will contribute nothing but bitching, crying and flaming. So I give them what they want.

If you actually want to learn to PLAY THE GAME however; I can be tactful and delicate as an ambassador for mid-east peace. Ask anyone who has sought my help or advice.

infinite maps = sc4 raph goes up a tier.

Anyways, does this mean bye-bye algol or he'll be heavily re-balanced ?

You are the worst poster on 8wr. All of your posts either scream HEY IM A GIRL PAY ATTENTION TO ME YOU KNOW THAT BY THE PREPONDERANCE OF FEMININE ISSUES I BRING TO THE TABLE TO FIGHT THE PATRIARCHY, or HEY I LIKE TAKI AND IF YOU DON'T YOUR A BITCH.

Honest question: Are you 14 and reading too much Sylvia Plath?

On Topic: At first I was repulsed by the idea of an infinite stage, but as I think about it, it's cool. In tournament among serious players we pick random stage anyways; so what does it hurt to give anti-ro scrubs something to cling to besides a cage? Also, adapting to the environment is part of being a good player. So we learn to deal with it.

I honestly wasn't going for that approach...and I actually hate that when girls are like that. Even when soemtimes someone calls a girl man, and the girl immediately says LOLLSS im A GUURl. Srsly though, was just a thought....didn't mean it to come off like that, because I really hate feminisim and all that shit too. =/

Stages as a whole, since IV, looks very... gimmicky sorta. They don't look very realistic as the ones in II and III. That's not the most important thing though.

They said that they took visual inspiration from Tim Burton.
Tim Burton is known for his dark and gloomy aesthetics.

I'm not exactly sure why this is surprising, considering the first stage we saw was a damn torture chamber.

AND IDLEMIND'S AT IT AGAIN!!!!

anyway... shoot almost forgot what I was going to post but they should make a stage with rain incorporated in it. A lightning storm would be awesome. or even a catastrophe stage like SC3. I like the final stage in SC4 but the ring out potential was much too big. Most of the fight was on the edge of the stage anyway. I don't like ringing people out so I try my best not to (a lot of times that gets shoved in my face when the opponent rings me out) and fighting on the edge of the stage makes me uneasy. especially when facing Kilik. SC3 yeah you could ring out but the stage was frickin' huge!

See I was watching Last Blade 2 sometime ago...And I was like "see why don't we have stages like this."
You know actual stages with like people in the background, or samurai stages with like random dogs eating on some dead carcass. All we have is islands and cages, who sets that shit up...now you're fighting on a raft, now on circle thingy.

So I appreciate the second stage.

I grew up on samurai and kung fu movies, people throw down in the streets or some grass fields or at the river with a waterfall.

I'm not against the idea of endless stages, but it is....curious. Whatever, as long as there's a healthy variety of stages and ring outs are better in SC5 than they were in 3 and 4, no problem here.

SC5 needs an ice stage that's on fire, floating on lava, with a waterfall in the background, spikes on the walls and floor, random pits of death in the floor, spectators throw rocks at you, and just make the whole thing underwater (because why not?).

On an actual note, I wonder if the Colosseum will have a cheering crowd? I support dynamic backgrounds.

Hahaha, that would be quite the sight.

Though I think spectators might make a stage more interesting.

SCIV Did have that, you know. It just wasn't as predominant. Nobody ever notices the horses charging down the mountain in Hall of the Warrior God.

And I mean Distant Marsh had a lot of activity too.

And Jyurakudai Villa has a lot of birds - and I only really noticed THEM right before my old PS3 ylod'd and there was crazy amounts of graphical errors coming off only the birds for some reason.

I think the main reason SC's design lacks random people is really: How do you make a stage with walls and ROs that has people in the background? In a 2D game, that's easy to do considering you can't switch planes and suddenly be running into them. SCIV's Kunpaektu shrine did OK with it, what with the lizardmen that you could hit for wallhits.

But all those stages look very empty or lonely is a better word. If you did a street stage with people watching from the second floor of buildings and such.

Or hell have people in a Colosseum cheering.

Of course tekken stages do have people in them as invisible walls...lol.

I'm glad there's an infinite stage to mix things up and it's definitely better than the square or circular stages from SC4. Also, it does look like they're bringing back character stages!
