So, If Voldo Doesn't Return In SC V, Who Do You Think You'll Use Instead?

Something I've seemed to notice about Voldo players is

1. A love for the character

2. A dedication to the character.

I've noticed very few people have "pocket Voldo". He seems like one of the characters that you either main or don't play.

So my question to you all is who do you think you will play and why, should Voldo not appear.

And yes I'm well aware it's a little early to speculate when we've only had 8 characters revealed, but I'm curious to see if the Voldo players of 8wayrun gravitate towards any particular character(s).

I of course will wait to say with certainty who I'll play until I've tried them out (Voldo is the only character in Calibur I'd always main on principle) but I think I'd likely play Ivy. She was my tertiary character in SC2 and I like that she has both tricks, command throws and rushdown at her disposal.

If I had to choose a revealed character, I'm leaning toward Patroclus. I've never liked using Soph or Cass, but something about him seems different enough for me to give him a serious try.

Who's gonna be the oldest on that game? We're falling behind without Voldo. Xiaoyu's grandfather is almost 100(0000000000000000000000) in Tekken 6 and if Voldo returns in SCV he'll be only 67...

On a serious note now... They need to keep keep him because this is their very unique (and weird) one. He's more something like a symbol... And if they get rid of him, they should bring back that style. I really wanna play SCV with Enkindu and his Voldo!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually Soph and Taki might return... Soph as NM and Taki... well there's no clear info..... I guess they'll let us moan a little bit more...

if voldo isnt going to return i will main his apprentice because voldo is looking for one througout the SC games.

if no apprentice of voldo or voldo then i will just look for a new main. hopefully a unique character

I really hope he returns. The last couple of weeks I've realized how much I love his playstyle and his options, Yoshi/Amy/Algol don't do it for me the same way, nor do the characters I barely started learning like Mitsu/Soph/Sieg. I can just play Voldo over and over and each time try to utilize different options and stances and setups. Even typing this makes me want to play him.

I don't think I can speculate on who I'd play otherwise. Just cause a character looks cool stylistically doesn't remotely mean they have a playstyle that meshes well with you. That said, Zwei looks cool.

*Cough cough* Whoever is god tier *cough cough* =P
Joking aside, come learn Zwei, we have a WOLF GUNDAM!!! ^_^

Lol Syn, you don't need to joke about it. I'm a tier whore, I wear it loudly and proudly. I wouldn't play a lower tier character for anything but jokes because I'm competitive and I would hate handicapping myself. You look at characters like Sieg or Night and you feel like some developer just ran through their frame data with a shotgun.
I don't have to play top tier characters though, I would gladly play Yoshi seriously still if iMCF wasn't such a bitch for me. I hope they don't beat Voldo with the nerf stick for the next installment :-)

There's always been that charm with Voldo that he's not as physically big and strong or quick seeming as other characters, yet his fighting is so fundamentally skilled he doesn't even need his vision. I've always LOVED the whole concept of blind stance. The fact that he could keep competing even older would be amazing, especially (I doubt this will happen) if his moveset is adjusted to reflect his aging. I wouldn't mind actually an incarnation of Voldo with more emphasis on smooth, clever stuff and less on crazy power and agility he sometimes shows in his moves.

Incidentally the whole loss of vision is a big thing in hero epics in many cultures. The notion of sacrificing vision (which we are so reliant on) in order to tap into higher senses is something people seem to love in general. Most recently it makes an appearance in the third Matrix movie with Neo losing one kind of vision, in favour of another.

I find that difficult to respect personally as I became competitive with Sieg, getting past his limitations through sheer perseverance, the reason I joke about it is because it completely goes against my own... for lack of a better word, beliefs to just tier whore.
For example, take Thugish Pond, he is an incredible player - absolute top level, but I will always rate a player like Keev above him because he competes at the same standard with NM, if that makes sense.
Don't get me wrong, I still like you, I just think tier whoring is pretty shameless tbh...

This. That was one of the many things that always appealed to me about Voldo. He's blind, he's 50, and yet his playstyle has an almost whimsical, carefree element to it. He's so much better than you that he doesn't even have to concern himself with you, he's too busy prancing and playing murder.

I heard a rumor that Voldo's dead, but his style lives on, but will be in the form of a spanish luchador. I think a spelled that right.
