Official SCV Stage Discussion

Getting back to the enjoyable aspects of the previous games' engines and adding new mechanics previously seen elsewhere aren't mutually exclusive pursuits. If anything, multi-tiered stages are right in line with the ring out/wall pressure game (much moreso than an infinite stage)
I have to agree. Soul calibur has never had an endless stage, but look what we have now. And tekken has been doing that since tekken 3 i believe(correct me if i am wrong).

It could add a strategic layer to the game if certain stage tiers were more beneficial to certain charcters than others. E.g. Astaroth would be trying to nudge you into a wall-less underground pit, while Cervantes would prefer walls glorious walls.

If it's just added as visual candy and does nothing for the gameplay, then I'd rather they focused on getting the other things right first.
I agree 100%. if it is just for looks then I don't think that it needs to be added. But soul calibur has been doing the same thing with their stages for a while. While other games are changing and adding new elements to stages soul calibur just kept doing what they knew. I think project soul could show the other fighting games how it is done.

I think they should add them, if they prove to be broken they can always be banned from tournaments. I mean soul calibur 2 had a lot of interesting stages, from the ice one, to the quick sand one so I don't think multi-tiered stages are too out of the ordinary.

If i had to pick between a multi tier stage and an endless stage then i would rather have multi tier stage. I think thats its a really good idea but I personally like Soul Calibur the way it is. We want SC to be SC not Tekken or Doa.

For the record I probably wouldn't mind multi-tiered stages. I like the way they're done in DOA myself. But that wouldn't fit SC likely.

As long as knocking you off a ledge does like a third of your life I'd probably be okay with it.

The one thing that Soul Calibur definitely doesn't need is multi-tiered stages. Soul Calibur needs to get back to what made the game a success, instead of just doing something that DOA and now Tekken is doing.
I agree with u to an extent. Change is good. So they should keep the best qualities of the game and add new ones.

I merged the other thread to this one because we already have a stage discussion/idea thread.

Merged, again.

I am okay with change. I'm not okay with multi-tiered stages in Soul Calibur.
No endless stages, no multi-tiered stages... that doesn't really sound like change. I understand alot of people don't care for endless stages, but I think adding multi-tiered stages will add to the gameplay instead of taking away. Dead or Alive started with ring outs, but transitioned into multi-tiered stages pretty well. And I feel like Soul Calibur needs to mix a few things up. So if they added Multi-tiered stages, they would find a way to stay true to the series in a new way. Not trying to change your opinion (cause I know I wont), just want us to be open minded.

Make it half life and you got yourself a deal. I still want there to be a heavy penalty for failing to control ring position and with cages and infinite stages the penalty needs to be higher to balance that out, IMO.

The coli stage is definitely Pyrrha and Patroklos' stage from what I've seen.:D
Do you think we'll see chara specific stages again (like in SC3) for SC 5, based on what we've seen so far - ie moonlight stage is Zwei's, coli is Pat and Pyr etc. Hope so!!

CaS. It stands for "Create a Stage".It think this would be awesome, and would give online matches a nice touch of random element. Of course, there would be some ugly all black/red/pink/rainbow stages, but i think it would be something never seen before in a fighting game.
