Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Any one else glad that they are going to patch that grab tech glitch? I will finally be able to punish people who do naked teleports and think they are pro! Oh speaking of teleports I figured out you can punish Vajra after the kick you can just grab the little asshole. Not that it matter at the moment what with the glitch still in effect and all.

On a separate note I've noticed that my Dr.Doom and my Dormammu are pretty much the only reason I win matches. When I play people it seems that my point characters die and then I have to play heavy keep away with Dorm and Doom until I chip people to death. It's crazy that I put time into Ghost Rider and Nova only to realize that I still suck with them. Maybe I should just play hawkeye and play an extremely lame ass team, anyone think that team can lame out people enough to help me win some tournaments?

I just saw some Honzo Gonzo matches and he plays so lame that I can't help but love it. I must play even lamer than him and stuff and stuff.

LOL you guys want lame. How about that new Firebrand snapback infinite team killing combo. 1 combo and all your team dies. lulz. You must use Firebrand, Morrigan and Skrull. its pretty simple during firebrand combo you call morrigan for meter than at the end of your combo you snapback with your gained meter and when next character comes in you use Skrull assist to keep them locked in blockedstun airborne while you charge swoop unblockable and repeat until all team is dead. :D Probably gonna be banned tough.

So trying YET ANOTHER team! I'm finding my Task/Akuma synergy to be too valuable and have been desperately seeking a 3rd character to replace Storm (vanilla team: Task(vert)/Storm(whirl)/Akuma(tatsu)). All I'm 100% locked in on is Task has to be in front of Akuma in order and Akuma must be tatsu assist. Right now I'm doing: Cap(shield)/Task(vert)/Akuma(tatsu).

Team is basically a LOT of lock down pressure by abusing Akuma tatsu for various purposes. I put Cap in front to make use of safer DHC's with Task and use vert arrow assist to force them to deal with shield spam on the ground. I can pretty much safely poke for huge damage all day with this team spamming shields and charges while using tatsu to make everything safe and repeatable.

Need to test out Cap/Task assist synergy. I think I can create some really dirty things when Task is on point and I have shield assist by doing low air web swing>arrows cross up to pass them, then have my character hop back to the other side from the arrows just as shield is returning. Cap assist, dash, Task f+H, Task f+H, sting master, Akuma assist, Task f+H, sting master seems like a really dirty pressure string that I can start at 3/4 the screen to get in. Cap shield charge with Task assist just before, might be a pretty decent bait too.

I just hope this team can catch certain characters that can really good keep away like Trish and Dorm. Then again I only need to hit them once...cuz Hyper Charging Star > Task arrows hurts like hell (what scaling?!?)

Honzo is godlike. Definitely take pointers from him if you want to run keepaway teams.

Yoooooo, I love it, dude. Everyone on SRK was talking about it last night. So awesome lmao.

Damn...thread really took off. I would love to play all of you...if I had the goddamn game...lol
I should be able to finally get my copy in, say, a week so i have a lot of catching up to do.

Also, props to you Cosmic. You really know your shit. ^_^

Yes we must play each other SHIN! you can play my new keep away team that I am going to name "Team we so Fancy"

GG's SHIN good to see your Dante is still annoying as shit, seeing you go for those Nova H loops made me laugh because I knew you were going to drop it. That loop is already hard to do offline and online is just not going to happen, thats why I just stick with the simple bnb's with nova and even then I was dropping the combos like crazy. We can't play our characters like we want to and it sucks.

I had no idea that Frank causes chip damage on his normals when he reaches lvl 4 and the range he has is insane, also the way you were tossing pies was pretty nice.

On to me! How you like my Doom and Dorm combination? The amount of keep away I can do with them in this game is so nice.

One of the teams i play is Zero, Cap, Task so yeah Cap, task, Synergy really works well. Having played this team since the debut of Vanilla i experienced a lot with it so im curious as to which assist you use with Task? Vertical or Horizontal arrows? Personnally i find Vert a lot stronger as an assist. Since Cap cannot control space above him that much Vert arrows gives you all the space you need for air Shield slash pressure. Also the delay of the arrows coming down is pretty usefull to stop your opponents offense if you get opened up after trying to rush your opponent.
BTW if you want something really good with Task, Cap, try task air loop on grounded opponent with cap assist. Let me explain myself :
Instant overhead j.B, j.C, j.S, land, Call cap, j.B, j.C, j.S,land,( 2hit hit of shield hits)j.B, j.C, j.S, ABC, f+C into your standard bnb. Cap assist is a lot useful when you use those to hits like this especially since the second hit push the opponent closer to you.

With all of this said i would say that Cap as your point character is a good choice in your team but i would also think about Zero who's im my opinion the best battery in the game by far and probably one if not the best character in UMVC3.

p.S. Cap also goes really well with Stephen Strange which, like Cap before, doesn't want his opponent to be in the corner since he can't teleport on the other side for cross ups opportunities. With Cap assist your gonna drag the opponent out of the corner allowing your teleport to go on the other side of the opponent.

I'm running cap point because he is a battery himself and isn't meter dependent. He also builds positive meter in his huge 750k combo that become 800-900k with Task. I use vert assist with Task so i can zone and pressure with shield, and Akuma tatsu is my cross up+roll set up. So tons of freedom with Cap on point first and having 2 very useful assists for different rolls.

Cap needs a cross up assist, so I wouldn't be using vert assist unless I had Akuma and as of now Akuma/Task have tons of synergy and Akuma is the better anchor so he fits perfectly (and really is a dirty assist with cap too). The reason I do Task in middle is for 4 reasons:
  • DHC Cap > Task is much easier, vise versa it is very common but not in all scenarios
  • Task can abuse meter openly, Cap can only as an unsafe punish
  • Task is a safe DHC in some scenarios
  • Cap is a bad anchor, and Akuma is the strongest one, Task can do any. Cap/Task benefit from all assists, Akuma only really benefits from Task. So I can easily push Task around anywhere on my team for many different synergies.
I haven't made assist combo's yet, but this team seems to have a lot of TOD potential.

Neat Dr Strange idea. As for Zero, he scares the shit out of me with his charge shot shenanigans. I need to try him again but Right now I want characters I feel comfortable with and I've been all over the board with great ideas, but failing at really grasping the characters till I hit these guys. My Task is too strong for me to let go personally so I look for teams to build around him.

lol yea very GG's Juecey. Dante is still the heart and soul of my teams, but the nerfs he got really sucks XD. Increased pushback on everything, less overall damage, and Hammer invincibility cut in half really suck, but i'm a Dante main through thick and thin. I put in way too much work to drop him. At least he still has Reverb Shock-->Fireworks abuse.

I don't even know why I even attempted the Nova loops either, but the damage is just too good to try and pass up. Doesn't hurt that that shit looks oh so stylish too lol

Lvl 4/5 Frank is pretty daunting to go up against. His range becomes ridiculous and everything he does will hurt. Also, trying to throw him becomes nearly suicide because of his s.M and j.M being so ridiculous. Getting to this point is pretty difficult though so thank God I have like, 10 different setups to get him to lvl 4/5 XD. In the meantime while I'm stuck in lvl 1, I just abuse his Pie Toss and slowly crawl my way in lol I will say that its a lot better than I gave it credit for but its no Samurai Edge.

Your Doom and Dorm team was pretty annoying to go against since the only person on my team that could really go against it was Dante and once he was out, it was pretty much it. There's no way a lvl 1 Frank can deal with Hidden Missiles coming from above, a Purification up his ass, and a Flame Carpet in his face lol Nova has a bit of an easier time, but its still a tall order. You've got some great stuff there. I'm still trying to come up with a Dorm team myself as well as a Chris team.

The increased pushback only affects some of his combos, mainly the easy-mode ones (L, M, H, S, etc.). All his advanced combos work, and they do the same amount of damage as before, thanks in part to Million Dollars being a mashable hyper. My Dante/Viper DHC combo (That uses Vergil and Viper assists) does 950k, and it's pretty basic. If I added in acid rain loops and whatnot, it'd definitely hit the 1mil mark. So yeah, his damage didn't go anywhere, it just became a little harder to get to.

Btw, I don't think Hammer invul was really cut in half, was it? The invul was just removed from the startup. He's still fully invincible throughout the rest of the animation. I don't know any frame data, so whether or not the invul has (by technical terms) been cut that much is a mystery to me, but I'd wager it wasn't that much. Unless of course you're exaggerating, to which I'll say, "my bad."

Alright so I am thinking that I might want to pick up someone else besides Hawkeye. I was thinking of either learning Dante, Vergil or Strider. I mean with the missle assist and having Dark hole for lock down I think I can pretty much toss in someone stronger than Hawkeye for when my zoning can't win a match. Out of those 3 who would mesh the best with Doom and Dorm?
