Discover any tech traps? GREAT! share & discuss here.

Edit: on further note, plz share how much soul meter you gain.

From what I recall, I did GDR BT B+K into 2[B+K].

You gain more than half almost filling a third of a full bar (I'll have to double check on that).

Ppl who are too eager to get up, will get caught in the quake and the best follow up I can think of to punish such victims is iGDR x 3.

I found that bK into GDR catches all but left, it will launch them so iGDRx3. You must be close when the bK connects for it to catch.

-um im pretty sure 2A+B RCC 2A+B is a combo and a tech trap
-CH 3A+B 2(B+K) is a tech trap with the quake stun on all directions and you get a free 3B/iGDR

iGDR into WS B+K is a tech trap forgot the damage and soul meter gained but the damage input is in the 100s.

Found some tech traps. Most only work front and back ukemis though. Also, the meter listed is approximate.

(back only) bK 2A+B iGDR x3 163 damage/45% meter gain
bK 3B 8B+K iGDR 96/30%
bK 3B 8B+K iGDR CE x2 165
2A+B WR A+B 87/40%
2A+B WR A+B BE 98
2A+B WR B iGDR 99/25%
2A+B WR B iGDR CE x2 164
33A iGDR 63/20%
(back only) 1K CE 64

iGDR into WS B+K is a tech trap forgot the damage and soul meter gained but the damage input is in the 100s.

For all but left it's 119. On left, it's about 70 since one hit of the WR B+K whiffs.

Good job researching, but nobody is going to tech front or back...we need tech traps who catch left and right. Front/Back is pretty useless against a good player.

Right now my favorite one is 22AA delayed iGDR for relaunch...so good.

Please explain this to me. Doesn't sound like very sophisticated thinking.

There is not much to think here, good players dont roll back or to the front, cause they know that those directions are catched by pretty much every move...usually people stay OTG, roll or tech left or right.

I'm not trying to come across as some smartass/expert, but couldn't an unexpected Ukemi forward catch your opponent off guard if they're expecting you to possum, putting you in a good situation? A back Ukemi could simply reset the situation entirely in the same circumstance.

Only way I can see those two being completely useless is if your opponent has a tech trap for every possible Okizeme situation, which isn't impossible, but unlikely. Especially this early in the game's life.

back ukemi isnt that rare tbh, its just that the combos that allow tech traps usually end very close to the opponent.

Found something interesting. iGDR can tech trap to itself. Like iGDR iGDR (slight delay) iGDR, etc. Seems to work all but left, though it has occurred on left tech ONCE for me. I think it's too hard since the delay is so short, but here I got recording of it.

HIgh level players don't ever roll forward or back, because most tech traps in the game catch those directions. You roll from the side, always. This has been this way for years. Tekken, SC, etc, same thing.

Why are you pressing Guard when doing iGDR?

Why are you pressing Guard when doing iGDR?

If you mean why it shows G at the same time as iGDR, that's a habit of mine I got in SC4. When I iGDR on pad, I don't perform 214:B, I do 214:B+G. Not only do I have a higher success rate (roughly 80-85%), when I mess up, it performs B+G rather than DC B which saves me a lot of frames.

Oh I see you actually press it simultaneously, clever I may have to steal it. It will only grab if the input is too early rather than too late though won't it?

I always do B~G when I try iGDR. It makes it easier for me and you guard if you fuck up

No you dont guard... depending on the fuck up magnitude you will get DC B>4B>1B>2B but not guard :P
I posted a way to do iGDR easier (IMO easier, needs more confirmation) based on the sf4 plinking. Give it a try, i expect feedback :P

Huh, interesting. Should try that. Although my B+G on my pad is bound to the L1 button, so not exactly a comfortable position to perform certain motions like that.
