Move Spamming?

I jut learned Viola has one! Ka-ching! Now I can't wait to get home tonight and start stuffing people's attacks back down their own throats!
you talking about her taunt/counter (4B+K)? it doesn't really do anything but place the orb if she has or call it back if it is already set. doesn't do me any good. i just risk sidestepping myself and doing the good ole 3B.

me vs some topclass ezio in PSN sc5 ranked online...

seriously though, OP...

well...that actually was a ranked online match.

idlemind is right here. watch the video. sure, i only did one move for 95% of the match, but who cares? who does that speak more about...

me, who mashed one button...or him, who couldn't even deal with me mashing one button?

in a game with decent to very good netcode like this one, or in an offline game, anyone who complains about anything being "cheap" is almost certainly a bad player.

there are CE setups, tech traps, safe gimmicks, BE combos and the like, which may in the long run actually end up being overpowered or "cheap", but we still don't know what they may be.

crying on PSN or (even worse) here on 8wr about doing 2 moves, ringing out, throwing or employing any other fundamental or insultingly repetitive tactics because you lose to them means that you are both bad at the game and a bad sport in general.

hahahaha. I love it!!!

Match I had the other day against Xiba with Nightmare.

Round one start: Xiba pressed 6A+B, I move to the right [it was 8 since I was player two] and press B. Xiba gets up and does the same attack that goes to the left a little. I move right and press B. That was a perfect.

Round 2. I move right, press b and he does the same shit again. Then I GSB my way to victory.

Round 3 was drop kick spam just to see if it'd work.

He sent me hate mail.

Not everyone that complains about spam is a scrub. I find it annoying as hell and I will boot people for it but only after destroying them for being that lazy. My personal definition of spam is the same move three or more times consecutively, except for Brave Edge since that costs you to do so you can't sit there doing it all match.

The reason being, my friends and I much prefer a match be like a ballet of death, with constant evasions and back and forth. Think about Martial Arts movies; what would be more fun to watch, two brilliantly talented fighters going at each other untill, both exhausted, it comes down to the last attack after having chewed the scenery to bits, or one guy throwing one punch over and over and getting popped in the face for it till he passes out?

Admittedly spammers piss me off alot too. Not cuz they do it, cuz the game allows it to be too good at my level of play.
It basically comes down to this: when i play a really bad player that mashes out random stuff, Im having a hard time winning because defending in SC5 is trash and not very rewarding.
But on the other hand if I play way better players I can keep up way better. They tend to think more, dont randomly press/rush-forward and space. Also they dont randomly keep attacking after you blocked em while they are at clear frame disadvantage.
So basically if I see a 150 win 150 loss Xiba I know Im in for a tough match against a masher.
A 500 wins 50 losses Natsu on the other hand gives you way more breathing time --> way more enjoyable match.

So you don't like using a move 3 times because it doesn't look good? lol...

It doesn't make sense that other people would have to change their strategies just because a player finds it upsetting.
And it is a good thing that spammers can still beat pros at a high level. It would make the pros better players and learn how to counter the moves rather than go for extremely easy wins.

I think spamming is embarrassing for both players. The spammer for being cheap and the other player for not being able to break out of a predictable situation (=bad player).

at the end. is this considered spamming. mind you i had just picked up this character at the time of this video.
Haha That's his fault for not doing anything about it. I say if you want to spend your meter like that, then by all means do so. You did the work to earn it.

Cheap in the sense that if you find a player who cannot adapt to a single repetitive pattern, he is obviously a bad player and you should have an easy game anyhow. So you might as well give the poor guy a chance. Thats how i see it.

Simple solution. Find a group of players that don't care and play with them. Its a *game*. People can talk about high level this and tournament that, but in the end, it exists to be enjoyed.

"INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BUT EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS." -- Albert Einstein
If someone's spamming and you keep doing the same shit you'll get the same results. To think otherwise is insane

"3 TYPES OF PEOPLE 1.THOSE WHO WATCH THINGS HAPPEN 2.THOSE WHO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN 3.THOSE WHO WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED."
Spam happens. I'm usually the 3rd person. I wonder why the moves worked so well when spammed. Then I go to practice and record the computer doing the same spam I lost to.. I'll watch it and look for openings. Then evaluate what moves in the move set will counter this spam. And then make things happen next time.

e.g. In my early days of street fighter I've faced many people who spam Hadoukens. If you have a projectile you can spam back to counter it, but this gets you no where and is a bad idea if they have more health. Jumping over and attacking often results in a Shoryuken to the face. So, you keep in mind the timing of their spam and the distance between you and them. If close enough you can jump over their attack and retaliate. If too far away they win. Once you know all of this their Hadouken spam becomes a bad option because it so punishable [as most spam is].

"IT'S NOT THAT I'M SO SMART, IT'S JUST THAT I STAY WITH PROBLEMS LONGER" -- Albert Einstein
Coming from someone considered the smarter man to ever live by many I'll take this and run with it.
I play nightmare, a big slow character without a lot of options up close. Maxi, Taki/Natsu, Tira, Lizardman, Setsuka, the list goes on, are all faster than nightmare on foot and have attacks that come out quicker as well. The main solution is to keep a safe distance away from anyone faster because when they get close they can spam their way to victory on the guy a lot of time [And without GI even more so now].

So, again, I'll record the computer with spam spam and more spam in practice mode. I'll stay with the problem until I figure it out. It always turns out that spam tactics are severely flawed and easily countered once you know the solution to the problem.

"THE ONLY WAY TO GET SMARTER IS BY PLAYING A SMARTER OPPONENT." -- Fundamentals of Chess 1883
Yeah... I'm not gonna give the guy a break. I don't want people to give me a break. It's best when the spammer is only spamming because it's effective at the moment, but they have a lot of other options they know of.

e.g. Hadouken spam. Wonderful tactic when you know when to do it and what to do about people who know how to get around it. 236Fierce all day when they have no projectiles or projectile counters and they're at the other side of the screen. But know when to stop [when they're too close]. This can force an opponent into jumping at the wrong distance allowing you to recover and attack with a Shoryuken that knocks them back to the side of the screen again so you can spam more hadoukens [Ryu's SRK will send an opponent almost to the other side of the screen and his Hadouken does more damage than the other shoto's]

Or Nightmares Grim Stride Spam. GSB is very punishable when it misses and it can be blocked by standing guard. If GSB is blocked at the tip you can safely do another as long as they don't side step [great for Guard Burst]. Or you can GSA if you're too close or suspect they'll attack and then go back to more GSB spam. If you know they'll block high and you're not trying to guard Burst you can GSK. All of this can be countered [just like any other spam].

Nope.

You want me to stop spamming, stop falling for it.

I'll keep doing whatever the hell I want as long as you let me.
Yep. Saying someone is "spammy" just means you couldn't stop them from doing the same thing which is pretty sad considering how predictable they would become at that point. It's not "cheap" unless there's literally no way for your character to stop them from doing the move with ANY of the dozens of moves a single character has. If that isn't the case, then it's not cheap.

You want someone to not spam a move they keep hitting you with? Stop them.

You just might be a scrub if-->
-you say cheap and you're not talking about the great deal you got on your mail order bride
-you lose a match and tell the guy who just beat you he sucks
-you get spammed and you cry and bitch like it's that time of the month
-you complain about any tactic your opponent has that's effective against you
-you change the rules so that strategies and tactics you're unable to stop are now illegal [Like the scrubs at this coffee shop who've banned Toon Link, Pikachu's Down-B, Ken Masters, Dormammu, Dante, Nightmare, Taki, Natsu, and a few others characters they've got their asses kicked by in various fighting games. Oddly those scrubs never banned Meta Knight even though he's banned from legit tourneys.]
-you bitch about ring outs, time victories, edge hogging, blue turtle shells, the yankees winning the series, the giants whooping your ass [again] in the super bowl, Taylor Swift winning best female video of the year, spamming attacks, girls going for assholes who spam attacks and not you, etc..

Granted there are a few things in games that are over powered and give one player an unfair advantage. These things usually get banned and/or patched.
