Is a Nightmare nerf coming? =(

Why eliminate the pushback on GSB? It's a move that makes sense to have pushback making it pseudo-safe. It's a mindgame if he continues the stance or chooses not to. If he does you can interrupt all his options. If he doesnt your interrupt whiffs, if you think he wont continue and dash in and he DOES GSB6 you lost your advantage.
There is not a damn thing wrong with nightmare worth nerfing. People seem so damn intent to cry about this game.

Man, that's distracting. Maybe you should copy and paste the "n" character into a Notepad file or something and ctrl+c ctrl+v when you post.

Alt+78 and Alt+110 works, too.

But I agree with your point.

I wish I could like Drakealdan's post more than once.

-edit-
There's very few things in this game I think are worth a straight up nerf at all. One of the only things is making the window to jG last hit of natsu's AAB larger.

In my opinion the only things that deserve to change is 6(b) having better frames on block or let 6(b), NSS K combo on normal hit. I can get over WR K I rarley

I don't know what all this GS B6 GS B6 GS K BE hate is. If you get hit with GS B, rest assured it's because you fucked up.

I'm not awesome at this game by any stretch, but I'll take a swing and say wanting Nightmare nerfed is related to the fact that most of the people I play online think stepping > blocking at all times. And Nightmare can't be stepped so they fail. I just can't imagine a lot of tournament players really jumping on this "NIGHTMARE IS SO STRONG HE MUST BE NERFED IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE THE COMPETITIVE VIABILITY OF THE GAME" bandwagon.

But meh, this is the fate of all characters that lead the way in scrub smashing in the era of DLC patchable fighters. How it goes just depends on who Namco/Project Soul decides to listen to.

Nighty is fine. If anything gets nerfed it will be his backdash and that might actually be his greatest hidden asset.

I don't know if his backdash is a necessarily hidden asset given the amount of bitching that goes on about it.

How the fuck do you nerf Nightmare anyway? Put him in counterhit state on neutral? Make half his moveset -34 on block rather than leave it in the -15 to -22 range? I don't get it.

He's a popular character so people lose to him a lot, and the internet is bad at correlation vs. causation.

They should bring back SC. And whenever he does it, all heavy GB attacks get 20% extra damage and are +10 on block, and all turn into mids. Only proper thing I can think of that would nerf him....

After reading through the March patch thread and seeing what people had to say about nightmare I think it is remarkably appearant these people don't know what in the 72-virgin-fuck they are talking about. If he gets nerfed I'll probably drop this game for the raw fact that PS would be blatantly admitting they arent actually paying attention to the scene details. Just siding with whoever makes the most noise.
Stay strong my friends. You have my calibur-prayers your character is left as is.

I really hope you guys are right. I think NM getting buffs instead of nerfs is somewhat of a pipe dream, however.

I really just have a terrible feeling Nightmare will be nerfed. I also don't understand why they'd do it, but I have a bad feeling. The game has been out a little over a month. Why do we need ANY changes this early?

I'm having so much fun playing this game. I've already quit SFxT and gone back to SC5 full-time. I just hope they don't ruin the only character I enjoy playing. =(

Unfortunately, that's the way this may work. Just remember that it is always the squeakiest wheel that gets greased. No reason that wheel can't be you... you only need to bitch louder. Which does go against the nature of most genuine fighting game competitors, but hey, it works. It works really, really, really well.

Continuing with the real talk: people who want Nightmare buffed are as crazy as the people who want him nerfed. Like, the only thing even close to reasonable that I've heard trending that direction went something like "if you catch a poke with A+B and the opponent recovers in time to block, A+B should be safe." I guess you could make somewhat of an argument that otherwise, you put yourself at risk ahead of time only to be punished for what was really a good read. You could also make the case that, Jesus Christ, the move is good enough, just shut it and play.

A couple things here:

1) it's March 16th and the game was released in the US January 31st, formally. Some had it even earlier than that IIRC. From what I understand, the way the patch system works is that the developer has to produce the patch for review by the Microsoft/SONY sysops for approval to determine if the code is buggy and/or worthless or whatever by approximately a month in advance of the intended patch date. If this is the case the patch was probably coded before too much of a shitstorm really got started, at latest in the era of week three wherein bullshit certainly won the day most often.

If this is the case, Nightmare is probably saved from anything too, too drastic. Also, if this translates into them making notable balance changes on 21 days of play, they might as well have just sent you the bill for this game's headstone. Sad but true.

2) MORE LIKELY, this patch deals with little shit that objectively should not be the way it is. I'll admit I don't have a cursory knowledge of every weird anomaly on the disc, but I've heard aPat and Siegfried have some sort of tracking issues, etc. along with various bugs/glitches that need to be gone too. I bet ZWEI players have their fingers crossed for this since ZWEI was basically revealed to be embarrassingly gimmicky and full of holes on day one and nothing really seems to be changing that even slightly as far as I know (correct me if wrong, please).
