... If he gets nerfed I'll probably drop this game for the raw fact that PS would be blatantly admitting they arent actually paying attention to the scene details. Just siding with whoever makes the most noise.
Unfortunately, that's the way this may work. Just remember that it is always the squeakiest wheel that gets greased. No reason that wheel can't be you... you only need to bitch louder. Which does go against the nature of most genuine fighting game competitors, but hey, it works. It works really, really, really well.
I really hope you guys are right. I think NM getting buffs instead of nerfs is somewhat of a pipe dream, however.
Continuing with the real talk: people who want Nightmare buffed are as crazy as the people who want him nerfed. Like, the only thing even close to reasonable that I've heard trending that direction went something like "if you catch a poke with A+B and the opponent recovers in time to block, A+B should be safe." I guess you could make somewhat of an argument that otherwise, you put yourself at risk ahead of time only to be punished for what was really a good read. You could also make the case that, Jesus Christ, the move is good enough, just shut it and play.
I really just have a terrible feeling Nightmare will be nerfed. I also don't understand why they'd do it, but I have a bad feeling. The game has been out a little over a month. Why do we need ANY changes this early?
A couple things here:
1) it's March 16th and the game was released in the US January 31st, formally. Some had it even earlier than that IIRC. From what I understand, the way the patch system works is that the developer has to produce the patch for review by the Microsoft/SONY sysops for approval to determine if the code is buggy and/or worthless or whatever by approximately a month in advance of the intended patch date. If this is the case the patch was probably coded before too much of a shitstorm really got started, at
latest in the era of week three wherein bullshit certainly won the day most often.
If this is the case, Nightmare is probably saved from anything too, too drastic. Also, if this translates into them making notable balance changes on 21 days of play, they might as well have just sent you the bill for this game's headstone. Sad but true.
2) MORE LIKELY, this patch deals with little shit that objectively should not be the way it is. I'll admit I don't have a cursory knowledge of every weird anomaly on the disc, but I've heard aPat and Siegfried have some sort of tracking issues, etc. along with various bugs/glitches that need to be gone too. I bet ZWEI players have their fingers crossed for this since ZWEI was basically revealed to be embarrassingly gimmicky and full of holes on day one and nothing really seems to be changing that even slightly as far as I know (correct me if wrong, please).
