Leixia added: The biggest changes from 1.01 > 1.02:

- you can now easily step the second hit of 6KK or use a techstep move like 3B and 214B in-between the kicks
- 33BB has less pushback and is now punishable with 4B or 6B8K
- 44[A] can be now ducked for a free FC 1B combo
- some of her moves are now punishable by Ivy's CE for 100 dmg

Interesting note: After Leixia's 66BB, if you use 3B to tech step the second hit it will always launch her at a specific angle where 6B8 connects.

I'm not good enough at Ivy to contribute much information here yet. I still wanted to say thanks to you, Ring, for all the work you've put into this project (and the Ivy forum in general).

No problem. I'm doing my best but this SA still lacks a lot of info.

Aeon added.

He seems like a terrible character to me. He is very unsafe - you can basically punish most of his best moves and each time he goes into FLY stance you can side step and punish him for 100 dmg with 6B+K on a back turned opponent or you can react and 6B8/6B8 BE him when he uses meter for a fireball, it's ridiculous.

His CE is, without a doubt, the absolute worst in the game right now. It has heavy hitbox issues, does weak damage and it's glitched (whiffs and can even RO Aeon.

BBB - if you 3B after blocking the first hit it will CH him every time.

66A has been nerfed in the patch as well. In 1.01 Ivy could not punish it because of the masisve pushback on guard. Now the pushback is gone and she always gets a free 4B.

I have moved the 4B/6KB discussion to the Frame Data thread.

Astaroth added.

I'm thinking about changing the color formatting of the first post, I think it looks awful right now, haha.

Hey, you do whatever you want, you've already put us in great debt with all that you've done already! ^_^

What do you recommend is the best way to memorize this stuff (asking this to Ring and other people)? You worked on discovering all of this, so we who have the final results before us have to do it in a different way than you did.

Of course, ever since I first laid my eyes on this thread, I started noticing certain moves in other characters (and how to punish them) and gradually started to improve my game. But the best fighters out there somehow learned how to punish almost everything I do. So, one more time, how to memorize all of this? =)

It takes a lot of time and a requires a lot of match up experience, unfortunately. You fully utilize this knowledge you will need to learn at least the basics of every character. My advice is, learn to play all characters. It will speed up the process and once you familiarize yourself with their moveset it will be much easier for you recognize certain moves in time and punish them. It will also help you a lot with dealing with many characters (mixups, frame traps, tech traps etc). So basically you put a lot of time and effort in the game, but it will pay off in the long run if you are interested in competitive SC5.

Quoted for absolute truth.

If I can add, unless you have an ungodly amount of time, you can just choose to learn to properly punish about 10 moves per character. Again, this is where learning how to play the character's basics will help, since what your opponent will look for would be the same thing you're looking for if your roles were switched.

For instance, knowing that Cervy 3B is 6b8K punishable is invaluable, as any Cervy would want to keep throwing this out. Same goes for Astaroth 6K, Viola 66AA(duck the second A, punish with back throw if they delay), etc.

Good and honest answers, from good and honest people! Unfortunately, as Sora pointed out, I fall under that no-ungodly-time category, so I guess that's that. At least I get to have my ass whooped a bit less then I would without this thread. xD

Pyrrha's 236B is now punishable by Ivy's CE! =D
And if you backdash during her 11A,[A], you can time 6B+K right when [A] would've hit and she'll do her 100 damage backgrab combo.

Also, 6B8K cannot punish 236B at tip range. You have to be relatively close.

Ivy can punish any move that is -17 with here CE provide she must be in range to do so.

Sometime 6B8K wont work because of hit box of the weapon is higher. 4B can be a good substitute as it hit box is lower.

I will have to print this out when I go on deployment, by the time I get back, this will probably be memorized - and with my luck, SCVI will be out by then, and it won't matter... LOL! Sigh...

Omega Pyrrha and Ivy are ma hoes.

Thanks for this Ring, I can utilize Ivy to new levels of annoyance against scrubs ^_^

Xiba added.

When all characters are done I will add most important basics for each character and how to play against them.

Viola is coming next. I think I've figured her out finally (also I won a tourney on Saturday using her haha)

I imagine her punishment charts will be difficult to do since she has so many weird orb properties... Can you check if 3B tech-steps and punishes the last hit of Viola's BBB? I think the TS works, but I don't know whether or not Viola can block it in time. Also, how dare you cheat on Ivy with Viola.

I have to admit Viola is super fun to play - long combos, lots of options... reminds me of SCIV Ivy in a way.

Viola BBB is safe. You will only punish her if she does BBB into a move, in that case a move with tech step or TC will dodge the orb and CH her. But if she decides to block there's nothing you can do.

This is what happened to me today when I was doing Xiba's punishment list (more specifically, testing his 6BK BE). I forgot to post the video:

^Do NOT show AlexJ that video XD.

Also, 2K punishes if used during the third hit of Viola's BBB, but you must be at closest range. But yes, 3B does not punish =[
