The AMAZING SC5 Online General Discussion Thread

I don't actually agree with that even being a valid question. Sure losing to a Viola I'm outplaying leaves a sour taste in my mouth but it isn't really a reason to quit. That said I've never really run into RQ-s that often. I get one or two every handful of days but it's fairly rare.

Guess it's my bad luck then :/ It's alright though because once I get my PSN account into the higher ranks I'll be able to play similar rank without worry then.

My lag was kinda bad the few games I did today too. Since I'm trying to pick up Hilde I just gave up trying to play today. :\

I just wanted to run by and say that the number of good players who won't send back a "GG" message after you send them props after a good match is really sad :\. People need to realize at the end of the day this is still a damn game and not take this so seriously :\.

wait we're supposed to respond to those? i don't even get most messages till like 3 days later because i always keep the notifications off. if i don't, i'll pass out and my TV's auto-off function won't work.

that said, even if i do receive them quickly, i generally don't care enough to be sending psn messages either way. it isn't that i'm bitter or smug or anything...i wonder how many people i've upset by this?

lol

no I'm not really saying a "don't see the message" type deal. I do that all the time in fact, and I'm guilty of not replying because it's been 4 days or something. I mean people who you say GG to after a close match but they start ducking you. I'd said GG's in the room's chat function but they left a minute or so later without saying anything. I end up in a room and during the very end(like last 3 seconds) of a match he comes in. I see it's him and ready up for the next game, he leaves rather than taking the match. It could just be he got an invite or something, I just find it annoying when somebody doesn't want to do anything but get easy wins and that was the vibe I got from the guy.

Realistically Mitsu is kind of a heavily hated character by everyone but mitsu players lol. Doesn't excuse ragequitting, but it isn't just scrubs either :p

I wish I didn't run into RQs so frequently. I mean 6 or 7 players out of 10 sometimes. Those are the days I just hit up practice mode since this dummy won't runaway.

Corrondos' thummb-socks. Order them at:

I understand that his pokes and mixups are sweet. But, why hate? Any decent Natsu or Nightmare can take Mits. I don't understand the salt I guess.

welp, at the end of the day, some people don't really care to learn, and some people (myself included) often don't care to stay in a room if they know that there is a good chance that they will lose and then have to wait another 10 or more minutes before playing again. all you can do is say...fuck 'em...and move on.

Eh he has argueably the dumbest move in the game with 4B, using meter possesses high damage mixups that reset the situation (and the mid launcher is safe), fantastic guard damage, good spacing, solid nh damage, reliable anti step, safety on block with a lot of moves that quickly recover on whiff. I mean if you block an i14 move 13 times he gets a guard burst and devours half your life bar for a single BE, and even if it doesn't guard burst you're pushed back far enough for him to space you again. If that i14 moves hits you take 30 damage and still are pushed back. If you duck it a lot of the cast gets modest reward because how fast the move recovers(Zwei is a bad example but he only gets 4B,2K. Maybe Algol gets FC8B but I'd just FC3B or 2A). His 66A+B partially tracks, is -2 on block, bursts in 8. Can't be jG-d on reaction(someone's probably going to say you can option select it or something though) because the cancel. Plenty of oki situations where you either take the chunk of damage from eating it, or watch your guard gauge get wailed on. People hate him because realistically the character was designed without many downsides and he can be played as basic as can be and still be effective.

I get it and all, just a bit of a bummer. Would have liked other games with the guy. He had a really solid Pyrrha and while they aren't too rare they aren't too common either.

*sighs*

I keep wanting to say that Mitsurugi isn't *THAT* broken and that the game is more balanced. Then you go and remind me of all this kind of shit and that 4B is is just the icing on his cake. Makes not bitching about it seem like a really bad idea -_-

...And this just confirms it: 1.01 Tira was Mitsurugi in drag the whole time.

AGREED. However, when they block the first one and are dumb enough to fall for a second one in a row...not really my fault. I get lit up online a ton of times by certain characters but I've never declared that they're cheap nor have I ever rage quit on someone. Not trying to make an issue, but it just sucks that I seemingly have to drop a character I've played for years to get respect online :/

In truth, and I'm not trying to seem annoyed or pissy, you shouldn't be able to do a second one in a row(if we're talking 4B). The move covers way too many options for him not to eat a decent amount of guaranteed damage. With just guard in the game there's already a heavily prevalent base in SC5 for reverse mixups. Adding more moves to a character's bag of tricks to create reverse mixups is fine too. But on a wrong guess they should be getting punished. Rugi's 4B lets him completely circumvent that. not only does it beat several options by the opponent, it is hardly beaten by any others.

In perspective Ezio's 4B is -18, less damage, and only +2 on hit compared to Rugi's being a knockdown/possible wall splat or Ring Out at -12(tmk) with pushout(this is completely ignoring tracking, whiff recovery etc). So if Ezio guesses wrong he gets launched by 70%(rough guesstimate, nobody quote me on this number) of the cast. If Rugi guesses wrong and 4B gets blocked you push them out, deal damage to their guard gauge, and due to the re-established spacing might be able to get away with another 4B. It's not rewarding the rugi player on a proper guess, it rather punishes the defending player by being a blanket solution that covers almost everything the defending player can do. I think that's where the distinction of "their fault for falling for it" and the "character's fault for allowing it" lies.

That said I feel hard pressed to say again I really hope the game is just left as is to sit rather than tampered with again. This community was given a taste of power and now we're quick to demand fixes. It isn't our place, imho. This game functions just fine. I hate outplaying a viola, getting wrapped up in pressure strings, guessing wrong after two straight right guesses, and having my1/4 life lead eaten up. I still think it should be dealt with rather than wanting a fix. Yes 4B is dumb. Yes there are characters clearly stronger than others. So what. Other communities have put up with dominant characters(I'm looking at you trench coats of UMvC3) for longer than we have even had this game and have learned to deal with it.
