Help against Ivy

Chrono17

[08] Mercenary
More specifically, the stance change that allows her to sidestep most of my moves and counter. I'm assuming iGDR is the preferred counter to this, but I'm only good enough that around 1/3 of my iGDR actually come out. Is there any easier way to stop this? Most moves are either too slow, too short range or miss when she does. Any help would be appreciated.

She has a stance change that sidesteps moves? Command?

I mean if it's a sidestep, you're going to want a move like 3a+b or 66a most likely to cover sidestep. 4a also works for a big stun combo if they're in close. But I'm not aware of any stance shift she has that has a built in sidestep, maybe someone else can shed some light on that?

He means Ivy's CS 214{B}_B. It is best to block and then get your free hits. You are in full crouch, but 6A+BB will reach often and KD. If she does the version to go in an attack stance, even more is free like 3B (stand up first) and 66B.

Don't forget, you can record moves in practice mode and play them back to try different options. Record a move and then hold block, play it back and try to punish it with fast attacks to see if it's unsafe, for example. Or record a series of moves, and see if you can step/interrupt between them.

Careful assuming that things are free when Ivy goes into SE ( CL 214 ) she may not be able to block but its attacks come out quite quickly. Plus, anti-Ivy is just delaying the inevitable. :P

^^^ Free = free. There is zero that she can do to avoid giving up free damage to you if you block her 214B_{B}.

You don't assume, you test it. If you wanted to test if blocking a move and then attacking with whatever would beat out her wrap stance B or A or whatever, you'd record that sequence and attack between. And if it works, it works.

He's exactly right, free = free as long as you don't react slow. If you block 214b, and your attack gets interrupted by a followup from wrap, either that attack was too slow, or you performed the attack too slow. Or you were playing on the internet, which is an entirely separate can of worms anyway.

The only other problem could be if she is out of range of your followup. Some attacks won't reach her every time, but there are some that will.
