All Purpose Hypothetical Super Soul Calibur 5 Thread

Hmm... I was wondering. Should a SSC5 ever be and there would for example be new CaS styles. How would they affect the tournament scene? I am asking this, because I do not know whether CaS styles are allowed or not.

Edit: I was just wondering, because, while I do not play in the tournament scene, I do most certainly care about it, or support it. Such CaS style might be fun and entertaining, but might there not be some sort of balancing problem, or anything alike. And how would it impact the rules?

CaS styles aren't allowed in tournaments because of not being able to police the character size option. There's also the issue of the thundergod drums and other assorted cheating that can be done with CaS creations (though that could be fixed by specifying one of the CaS presets).

If you have a default model for the character and the character is balanced, there would be no issue. Devil Jin has no default model on the character select screen and isn't balanced. That's the reason it doesn't work currently.

New style is the same as a new character. New characters are added to games all the time. If people want a character attached to the style fine but I just figured having a story attached to those wasn't important.

Alright. Thank you for the reply. That cleared it up for me. =)
Also, thank you UnseenWombat. Strangely didn't see your reply. ^^;

The days of 3B, SCH B natural combo. Lol

I'm pretty sure 3(B) → SCH B was never NC. Who cares if it isn't? On NH 3(B) you get an 80 damage RO/wallsplat combo for one BE, or a force block SCH B that puts you at +2 and breaks in 11.

Sorry to be a downer, but are we going to even get another Soul Calibur game?
One may hope, but as for now, there are no confirmations on anything and we are pretty much running around in the dark and speculating. Truth be told, I find it to be quite tedious. The sudden stop of CaS dlc sure put me off guard and left me speculating whether something is going on development wise, or if the game has been put to a halt.

It is on SCII. I don't care that is isn't, I just want both knees to hit for 50 damage.

I never knew that, thanks for pointing it out! Next time a game crashes I'll make sure not to develop an opinion on it. If developers ignore an infinite combo I'll make sure not form an opinion on that regardless of whatever CURRENT CONSISTENCIES ARE APPARENT OR DISCOVERABLE ABOUT IT.
Clearly, everybody who said the developers didn't intend step-G to remain in SC5 were going beyond themselves despite it being removed in a subsequent patch!
well, Well Mr. Sarcastic, Infinites and glitches are problems or exploitations within the game itself, I've never heard of anyone preferring a buggy game over a clean one in a serious conversation.

Do general players have any control over that? I don't think so.

Golly gee willickers Batman, since having a preference on technical aspects of a game is impossible why are there loketests?

The idea of a Super SCV is the only way for us to see a patch : patches are free for players, but require investment of both time and money from the devs.
On the other hand, if Namco releases a Super SCV, they can sell it, by adding new features along with the balance fixes. It's the only way for us to get a patch : we pay for it.

But it would take work and time from Project Soul, for a limited and far-from-certain financial gain.

The following part is highly speculative, if not naive : if we let Namco know there is a strong demand for an extended version of SCV, for example through a petition, wouldn't they be interested ?
Of course, timing will be important, too : there's no point in sending Namco a petition now, before TTT2 is released. But a little after, once they have a little more free time, we could give it a try.

This game needs more then a patch but an actual do ever. They dont have to redesign anything, just complete the game by adding and removing certain things.. changing certain characters and overhauling the gameplay. Remove the mimics, put back Setsuka and take out alpha.. etc.
Soulcalibur V currently has the lowest average ratings in the series, and was supposed to die with SC IV. Though I appreciate them making it, it seems to me this game needs more then a patch but an actual do over. Namco gives Tekken the budget and time needed to make a full gaming experience while Namco only gave SoulCalibur V the bare minimum time and budget to make what they could. Namco rushed Project Soul, not the other way around. It was either going to be incomplete on singleplayer modes or multiplayer modes, and, as a fighting game, the multiplayer modes were regarded as more important. Yes, it doesn't do well for sales to casual players, but if they had finished the story mode and extra single player modes and left the multiplayer modes barren and the fighting mechanics shaky, then we would have SoulCalibur III again. I don't get any hatred towards Project Soul, they did what they could with the time and budget they were given. They dont have to redesign too much, (other then Zwei) but just complete the overall game by adding and removing certain things.. changing certain characters and overhauling the gameplay and provide single player. Remove the mimics, put back Setsuka and take out alpha.. etc. It's missing a lot of things that made previous soul calibur games a big hit, seems they focused more in online play and character creation leaving a side good offline modes and unlockables. Soul series had massive potential. Massively wasted potential.

Not to mention adding Yun, Zas, and Talim to replace the mimics and character skins. People still want their old mains back, too.
