Pyrrha's lost and confused. Her only stable element is Tira, and Tira's the one who was going around killing anyone who offered Pyrrha a shot at some kind of emotional stability.
Patroklos offered her a glimpse at that stability but...
The ending to Story Mode doesn't help, as it looks more like two long-lost lovers finally reuniting than two siblings finding each other. Hell, I expected an outright J-Pop tune to start warbling over the scene, seriously, the whole storyline suggesting these two being the inheritors of Soul Calibur and Soul Edge (thankfully averted) made me shiver and...what about Tira? She's one of the major causes of all the crap Story Mode is based around, is said to have been responsible for Sophitia's death, apparently succeeds in getting Pyrrha to accept Soul Edge...and she disappears? Not going to beat her her down a bit after all the crap she's pulled? Oh, that's right, Patty's got his sister to hug. Silly me.

Hell, I expected an outright J-Pop tune to start warbling over the scene of their...I don't know, energy of love destroying the gateway to the evil realm (or whatever it was; I was still too pissed at Z.W.E.I., my favourite of the new characters, getting shanked by Pyrrha to fully pay attention or care). This whole story mode was catered to the Alexandras (sans Cassandra). Had this ending been different, I would've easily mistaken this for a poor man's Greek Tragedy, which this whole story mode should've been like in the first place. There was no character development, no chemistry (except for Patroklos and Pyrrha of course) and that was just down right distasteful. Granted, Project Soul had a lot for us in mind for a lengthy story mode but all we got was this. I can come up with a better story mode than this!

Ah yes, SC6. I'm more concerned about how they are going to rectify the problems with time, money, and adding various content. Not to mention whether or not it's going to be a reboot or continuation from SC5 with some the actual content that didn't make it in SC5 (i.e. 3/4ths of the story mode).

At least SCIV will have the nostalgia factor with it’s near complete cast. On top of that I feel some of the new additions really miss the point of Soul Calibur. Although they did do a few things with the gameplay, I feel like the series just needs to be rebooted presentation and production wise, not on a cosmetic level, with changes like characters ages; but on a very basic level; with focus on the game itself and how to market it. Props to Team Soul for having the balls to do something new and creative, and do something few devs would dare to in fear of risking their fanbase, but the cast doesn’t have to receive cuts to make the game different. This game should have been the prime of the series but sadly they don't want you to look that deep into the backstory lines like that it's all about in the now with that game, and I don't think they had the right supporting characters to help in the game I mean seigfried was kinda of use, but the other characters were like wh are you here? Z.W.E.I was just a pop-inbully, ivy I just think was there for the BDSM cougar fanboys, cause she really had no use there but to help find xiba, and lexia's weapons and I still didn't seethe use for that either. Soulcalibur 5 really under used everyone and made the main cast seem useless intheir own story tryng to compete with the new cast.

Why would it be a reboot for?

I can get wanting to replace those characters to show the series is more than just Sophitia or Taki. But they can still do it by giving those characters one last chance to shine or developing them further beyond sexualization. All Daishi had to do was give one more game that gives a nice, big send-off to the characters being removed, while also introducing who will be their replacements at the same time. If SC5 took the plot of Nightmare being the final boss again and forcing the characters into an apocalypse then, they could give every character a final time to shine where it would take every power to come together and fight to the end. After Nightmare dies in an epic battle they could have said that soul calibur purified the world thus then giving rise to a new generation (babyboom fashion) starting over so we can introduce Natsu / Leixia / etc. Then the plot can evolve into something new. With no individual endings, the game could take place the day after IV or a thousand years later for everybody but the three characters it touches on in story mode. The timeskip literally means nothing for anyone but Sophitita’s children and Zwei.

Ok, really? SCV is dead. SCV will not last another year from what I see. If so, I would be shocked. So the question is, will Namco Bandai make another due the sell rate of SCV? because I heard SCV sold bad....

SC didnt sell bad at all, (correct me) but it was just recieved bad by the invested fans. Namco's gross in gaming actually increased because of SC5 as I said somewhere before, though the money is just being used to add onto Tekken and that grows more obvious. There are games which must've used up 10x the dev budget and made just slightly higher profits that were greenlit for support and sequels. If you really take good look at the margin of sales Tekken has been the sole thing keeping Namco going strong. I dont see SC continuing if the fans keep stacking their emotinal expressions of pure for the company's choice on how they handled the game. What motivation would they have to try again? I'll admit it like everyone I was vexed at Namco for the wrong reasons. Yes from a business stand point Project Soul could have costed themselves a lot of grief by making sound calls when this game was in development. My guess id they're probably going to play it safe.

As far as any story ideas and development go, I still think the West needs to contribute, and Namco needs to give a damn. With the artbook and their notes, they have so much potential with the new characters they have now. Just use that as a way to make it better, without the need to make it "anime-styled" as SCV may have seemed.

As much as it is too centered on Sophitia's children, I can see how. It seems Sophitia, Nightmare, and Siegfried are the ones more affected by both of the swords. Personally, Soul Calibur (the sword) needs to take a break in the story since the sword doesn't serve much effect to the world like Soul Edge can, and has in many ways. Project Soul, however, can't do it, legally (Tim Langdell, anyone).

Another suggestion is another "Evil Seed", which then again, comes from Soul Edge. I don't know, I just think Soul Calibur is rather useless at this point, since Namco now labels it as a lawful evil sword, but it originally wasn't supposed to. Rather predictable at this point.

Soul Calibur have a great potential, everything in SC is great. Ups and downs, we are fans, so we should just stay loyal to the series, if there is a new SC, I will be happy, even if not pleased. Come on you guys, if the series survived to the balance of SC III, it might survive obnoxious story of SC V.

Btw, the successors are jokes, some are just overdone versions of the old ones, the others are childish and uninspired concepts.

But you gotta admit, SCIII had the most Single Player and Story Mode content even though the gameplay was fucked lolol. I think SCV will survive this dry spell, its not like the gameplay is not completely compromised cause in the end that's what really matters.

While I won't rule "it wasn't released on arcade first" as a sole reason for that, lords know what was going on back then. Probably was another sense of time constraints, but at least they were able to fix gameplay on SC3: AE.

I still think the importance of "Online" is where SC, in presentation, greatly diminished, and was the point where it went from....

"both tournament and casual fans love it"

to.....

"tournament fans love it, some casual fans like it, but way too many casuals hate it", and most hate it for more obvious reasons, as stupid as some complaints may be (rushed, mimics, removal of fan favorites, replacements and how they are portrayed).

Project Soul were so fixated on making the best gameplay and online experience possible, and in fact they did, but it would mean to sacrifice some things in the process because Namco felt the need to play them like toys just to promote Tekken more. Bamco drifting away from the series and letting Project Soul develop it themselves, instead of both of them doing it like the past, could be a reason as well, but I'm only assuming this.

I just hope if they do release a SC6 they dont fuck up. =_=;
The chance of them even doing it looks slim if the fanbase is this unsettled. Considering they didnt even plan to make this game and wanted to do it just for the fans, with a reception like this they'd easily call us ungrateful and won't bother again. Tekken is Namco's baby now. Right now I feel SC is dead.

In Japan SC is bigger than ever. SCV has also sold over 1 million copies. PS must be doing something right. All I see here is people bitching about how characters got replaced by a similar character with a different name and how there aren't enough singleplayer modes in a game that's focused on mutiplayer.
