You know what really grinds my gears??

I was having a discussion with my GF's brother. He just finished his master's degree in public health. Long story short, we were having a conversation about human anatomy. I was telling him that human organs, as well as our brains, vary in size and mass. He actually trying to tell me that all of us have the same size organs!

I then found the WIKI page on "athletic heart syndrome", where basically super athlete's hearts grow bigger to make up for the bigger demands, more blood flow needed at better efficiency. It's all there in black and white.

So then he goes to tell me that we all have the same size brains, which I knew was flat out BS. There is significant variance in brain size in human beings. It only states the "average" human brain size on the WIKI, which obviously implies that some are bigger, some smaller.

What grinds my gears is how someone can have THAT much education in a subject that pertains to this, and yet still be completely ignorant of some basic fundamentals.

He's the kind of guy who likes to use big words just for the sake of sounding intelligent. Years ago I thought this guy knew what he was talking about, but over time I've learned to take just about everything he says with a grain of salt.

Education means nothing if you're an idiot :)

WTF does Xbox/Microsoft think "Play only through headset" means? To me, it means when there's no headset on, there should be no voice output. Yet I hear people yammering on through my speakers. I prefer not to play with the sound of shrieking kids or babbling psychopaths distracting me/cracking me up during game play. Yes, I can manually turn voice down until I hear nothing. But then I forget and when I do want to mic up I spend a few minutes wondering why the hell I can't hear anyone. XBOX...you've been out too long to be this stupid.

Ummmm hey stooopid. You can rig it up to where it only comes out your headset when you have your headset on. and not through your TV. you silly goose

Isn't that the "play only through headset" option? I'm telling you, my xbox doesn't know what "play only through headset" means. I'm not at the console now but I think it only offers three options. Play through headset, play through speakers, both. "Play through headset" doesn't play through my speakers when the headset is on but as soon as I turn off the headset it's on through my speakers. Wouldn't be so bad if the voice quality on Xbox was better. But through a 1,000 watt 5.1 system it sounds like announcements of WWII bombings in London. Really tinny and small like through a wax cylinder.

You want to know what grinds my gears? A grinder with a grinding wheel attached. It does the job pretty well and when I need to remove rust or paint off metal surfaces I can stick with the grinding wheel or use a sanding wheel and not have to worry about digging into the metal.

Maybe your Xbox is smarter than mine. But hey, don't let that keep you from the sanctity of a warm placenta. :)
There are two different voice volume settings for when you have the mic plugged in and when you don't. Just turn the "Speaker" volume to 0 and the "Headset" volume to what you want and you'll never hear people unless you have your mic plugged in.

I like to use a valve grinder to grind valves and a seat grinder to grind seats.

I like to sand blast sheet metal cause its easier

Fantastic! I was hoping I was over looking something! For some reason I thought the "speaker" volume was a master volume but it is in the voice menu. Derp.

Depends on what type of sand you use and how big your sandblaster is. Ever try taking paint off metal using glass bead? Shit takes for-fucking-ever.

I use glass bead and walnut shells. The walnut makes for getting paint, oils grease and grime of cylinder heads much easier than sand. Most people arent familiar with glass beads which is why I went with the sand blasting terminology.

I wanted to put a thin layer of glass beads in the commons hall in my high school for my school prank. My friends said that was the most evil prank idea ever. I never got to do it. Lol

Ill send you some steel shot. just throw a tiny bit on the ground and watch people go flying. Its quite hilarious. If you piss me off at work, ima throw some steel shot right where you station is and watch you fall all fuckin day.

I really don't mean to pick on you/use you as an example....

But on facebook when someone says "My internet is slow, or I have slow internet", hold on....

....

think for a minute....

......

Is the internet really that slow....

...

Or is it your router/PC connection.....?

Also technically, we don't really own the internet, we just have access to it :D

AZ
The internet, at the time, WAS slow. We had 5 laptops with 3 running at the same time and 3 xboxes with live running at the same time. Also, at the time, we had the crappy internet package because we couldn't afford the more "speed" internet...
And before you say "well why didn't ya'll take turns on the live or turn your laptops off"... try saying that to three hardcore gamers and my parents who liked to be on the internet, lol.
