For a previous Kiriku Player...

Who would be a decent choice for online play?

Is Shiba the new Kiriku or is he a new character alltogether?

I'm thinking I might want to try out Alpha's style, but I'm generally better with somebody who has a little more range.

Edit: Not sure about the lot of you, but most people at my local arcade are pretty anal about "Original names" So....yeah. For those of you who don't keep up with the "Original" names, Kiriku is Kilik's original name, and Shiba is Xiba's.
I kinda just rolled with what I'm used to calling them, sorry about that.

Don't apologize. But just so you know, Xiba's original name translates to "shit burger". He has similarities to Kilik's style minus the hilariously overpowered moves from SCIV like WR B and command throws with a ring out range that could traverse an entire planet.

If you're better with someone who has range, Xiba would be the optimal choice unless you'd prefer to go with Hilde or the impossibly-sized sword users like Nightmare and Siegfried.

If you wanna try others out like Alpha, definitely go for it. And use whoever you want! Fuck tiers!

Ehh....I even tried google translate and I got no Shit burger, so I'll take that as sarcasm?
But yeah, Since SCII in the arcades, I've always stuck with Kilik because of his range. That and I simply love the Bo. ♥
II've never tried Hilde (Skipped SC4) but from what I've seen, it looks kind of awkward.
I tried nightmare and siegfried on Ps2...More than likely I wouldn't touch 'em again unless I was just messing around, for me, they just feel too slow.

About Xiba though, does he have Kilik's F + AB? Where he does a series of jabs with the tip of the Bo?

Well, the so called "original names" are what people get from the wiki, they go by the "Japanese" name, calling that the "original name"
I could list them If you would like? >_>

I think I've seen you in new arena forums. Welcome again.

Kiriku may be what the Japanese call him, but in America we call him Kilik. Simply because it's easier and more convenient to read than some Japanese Kanji or Romaji.

If you want to "weeaboo it" and call Kilik "Kiriku" which is a romaji form of what the Japanese call him I won't stop you.

However, true way to write Kilik's name is キリク. In other words, it's best to dig deeper and know why the Japanese call Kilik "Kiriku". They simply call him that because of the Kanji.

I'm not particularly good at all with Japanese. Studying it is like a complicated math equation haha. However, it's best to study a little more than scratching the surface. I know Japan the country is actually called Nihon or Nippon which kinda baffles me, but I'll just stick to being an American and call it Japan. At least America is called America haha.

I'm a weeaboo like you to call Ryu the right way and not "Rye-you". More like "Ree-you". However, I just happen to know certain peeps will probably get on your case on a tidbit like that so I usually let them call Ryu the way they want to. In America, you can call people what you like. Both a good and bad thing. ^^;

Getting back on topic, Xiba is basically the new "Kilik". Just like Natsu is the new "Taki". So if you're digging Xiba, why not main him and whoever tickles your fancy? Be sure to ask when stuck.

Ok, from what I've played so far (Beat story mode, got my ass kicked a bit by a C1 in online) Natsu is nothing like Taki o-o. Xiba is a LITTLE like Kilik, but I've noticed that Xiba feels more sluggish and has more frames in his moves that do alot of nothing....for example, his twirling the staff around his neck in his basic X "mash", it seems like he just gets slower and slower until eventually opponents take a coffee break before they counter him...
Also, As far as japanese names go, as i've explained before, most people are anal around where I come from about "original names", but from now on I'll call them the american name, simply because people are less so around here.

Back on topic, If anyone feels like tutoring me abit on how to be a better Xiba player, I'd gladly take some tips.

I understand the "I have to call this guy his true name" logic but bare in mind certain people as you mention are kinda anal about it. Majority of the time, it does make me very skeptical, cynical, and narcissistic towards those peeps. Not because of their preference to weeaboo about, but because I meet many of them online that it makes me go =/

Let's just say I've met many who I ask a few blunt questions and then they get all offended and butthurt at me. So in turn, I become a bit more bitter when meeting one similar to you. However, don't let my somewhat blunt behavior scare ya as I prefer to be straightforward. I much rather chat opinions with some playful smack talk and get along.

Anyways, what system you're on? If on XBL, I recommend looking up Moose Barrage(aka ZOMBIEBEAR666 on 8wayrun). He's very helpful when it comes to getting better at SCV. There's others out there willing to help out, but I'll eventually introduce you to them if you are on XBL.

But before you begin your journey to get better at SCV, I strongly suggest you look at this vid. Trust me, it's mandatory to know the gaming language.

Oh, I know what you mean. I'm not a fan of the weeaboo mode myself, I just didn't know how this community took the naming situation, and went the "safe" way >_>; .

Alright, I'll see if I can hook up with moose. I am infact on XBL.
Also, I've took a liking to my custom made Xiba that has more reach than standard Xiba (Only slightly ) and Z.W.E.I. :O

It's really a shame my XBL has ran out right when I was in the mood to help out. However, look up my buddies Spuri0us, SoloT4, SlayerX64R, and Moose Barrage. There's others I forgot to mention but I can't spell out their name right haha. These buddies of mine usually are a bit rowdy, but they're cool dudes who I can trust.

I might have to get on some alt join the fun though. Just not now.

After a run-in with somebody who managed to inf juggle me with devil jin after asking me to "train" with them, I want to simply point out that if you're going to inf juggle me in the game, I will not have a reason to play with you simply because:

A. I kind of like to move in my fighting games.
B. If you can insta me with Devil jin's air juggle, you don't need to train
C. I mean just...really? :/

I know alot of you so called hard-core gamers are going to be like "STFU and get better fag noob!!!1" but I mean, for a SCV newbie, it's no fun at all to be trashed because of a game glitch. So if you're going to ask me to play ye, keep the devil jin in your pants unless you're going to go legit with it.

Sadly there are a few glitches here and there in SCV. You can ask a hardcore Siegfried what glitches he has. Anyways, Devil Jin loves to be close. Space and zone him. I don't know Xiba's B'n'Bs but the first thing to do against a close range fighter is to space them. Keep them away. Be sure to ask a Xiba main(if there's anyone out there who does main him) how to get by Devil Jin. Or definitely ask Moose Barrage on XBL as I know he has knowledge of what to do against Devil Jin.

Don't let glitches discourage you from learning to get better. Try to keep a collected persona and figure out what move is killing you. Save replays, analyze like a madman on what kills you(course let yourself cool down first). The first step to getting good is knowing that you're at fault for losing. No one on here will insult a discouraged soul like you, all you gotta do is tough it out and eventually you'll get good soon.

Don't get me wrong. I get aggrivated, but not straight out mad, and not at the other player. Yes, while it's a glitch, I'm sure there's ways out of it that I just don't know yet, but I'm simply putting it out there that I'd like to play more with people that play the game in less of a "Hard-core abuse every glitch to win" and more of a "Casual with a touch of pro" kind of way.

But again, I'm never mad at another player, only at myself for not knowing how to stop it.
I played soul calibur quite often, and still do, but with the addition of the "Edge" gauge (I think that's what it's called) and the minor changeups in general gameplay, I'm having a little bit of a tough time picking it back up. I've already PM'd Moose for some gameplay tips.
