A tale of souls and swords, eternally retold...

Hey Vil- i just tried to recreate your Boba Fett CaS yesterday but, i can't adjust Feathers of Strength on his helmet the right way. in case you don't know, i have all DLCs collected except for White Knight and Dark Knight armors DLC. so should i use Bronze Helmet instead? if i do, then i might change the undergarments to Mummified

Haha, it took me 30 minutes to get the FoS positioned right, so just don't ask me :)
Anyways, the bronze helmet can do, you'll end up with another very good Bobba aka Brucege's, just remember to work on the rust using patterns and stickers and get the colors just right...

Damn Vil, I'd like too see more of your sketches in here! They are great! In the mean time I'm going to go back and few pages and see what I have missed.

Yes, darling, glad you like them, you missed a lot of them actually, and a few CAS probably :)
glad to see you back Rachel

I did not have time to see through it all, but what i saw really pleased me, digital art, a lot of different styles, that and he actually has a lot of creativity and is way better at drawing anatomy than i am :)
The dinos are cool, as are the fantasy characters and portraits
i am impressed, does he make a living out of it ?

cheers,

He does - The dinos are actually drawn for people making a game (a Facebook style one I believe) where you build dinosaurs or something..

Thanks for the kind words though :)

Really, very interesting, as we discussed with other forum members (and in this thread) how much we admired people ballsy enough to choose art as a profession, and the sacrifices it takes to succeed.

I am not saying Joe is the most famous artist out there and making millions, especially looking at the insane amount of good semi- or professional artists on deviant, but man...
making artwork for videogames, something i would have loved to do and might have been good at i guess, looking at my SC5 virtual career :)
You got a great bf mon ami, let it be known...but one who has a very small, mini, tiny...
fridge, haha, gotcha!

Ok, i'll go back and look at the rest of his gallery and report back if something strikes me silly, k ?

Looking at the whole stuff, i'd say bravo...the only area of improvement i see is that i got the feeling faces lack a bit of punch, technique or personality sometimes...i know their oddity or obnoxious proportions might be wanted from an art direction perspective, but i still think there is potential for better, more expressive and technically perfected face designs. Talking about antrhos and human mostly, those dinos are just pure genius and my favourites.

I love the picture where he removes part of his face like a cover too, and his avatar is...hum...uncanny

It is cool to see some of the art animated too, like the circus dancers and dinos of course, not a clue how he does that :)

Review ends

A more traditional realistic work (not a copy from an existing picture though), based on Hermione from Harry Potter (i only post this because Rachel is back, as this was a request from my goddaughter, i never read the books and the movies, well, let us not talk about them ok)...

It is a rather rough and flawed pencil sketch, but she loved it...Anyways,

I'll be sure pass this on when he gets home :)

So, was he happy with the comments ?

Anyways, Lil Vil being so fond of Plant vs Zombies GW, i put some time into making a Hippie Disco Zombie boss revisited.
I made a first version with glasses, but then i had no slots left for sideburns, which are just as vital.
But i might go back to w/ glassed version, as it gave him a funkier, more comical and somehow less threatening look.

If you are interested, i might take a few editor shots to show details that aren't quite visible on the in-game pics, like rotten skin details, disco pants, special zombie shoes and other trinkets...

Just a gimmick really, but the face construct really took some creative thinking, i'll let you guys figure out the secrets behind :)

What is sure is that i would have gotten the basics to do the whole goddamn zombie army if it weren't for the 3 slots limitation, actually disco zombie is probably one of the few (with the standard bald-headed zombie) which are doable with the CAS engine limitations.
Using the skely DLC is another option, but it just won't do the goofy PvZ zombie looks justice (believe me, i tried, but zombies do still have (admit. rotten) flesh on their bones)

That actually looks a lot like my Dark Souls 2 character so, thanks for the fan art :P

Happy to oblige, and you know what, this knight in shiny armor (noticed the high end glistening star sfx using kneadable eraser) ...
is very likely to end like any other DS character, meaning he is a few seconds away from losing a few morsels of his arse and all his preciouz soulz and get back to his beloved bonfire :)

Seriously mon ami, what about DS2, how far are you now, would you recommend it for someone who has beaten DemS and DS1 (yours truly), or is it more of the same...in other words, what do you like/love / dislike/hate about it comp. to previous instalments ?

ps : are there even dragons in DS2, as i remember fondly spending an hour shooting arrows at the red dragon by the bridge using dirty hide and peek tactics (arrows were about as efficient as toothpicks but actually got the better of him in the end without me getting barbecued to oblivion)

Lol, that drawing does look like a scene straight out of Dark Souls. Pretty awesome

On the topic of DS2, the game is incredibly fun and challenging to start off. So many weapons are viable so you just have a ton of options to fit your playstyle. I made 3 different characters just so I could try out different things, as well as PvP. You also have the option to reset your stats at any time if you wanted to, so making a new character isn't required. I feel like the boss fights were much easier though compared to DS1 (I haven't played Demon Souls so I can't comment on that one).

p.s. There are 5 dragons to fight in one playthrough although they're pretty much pushovers.

TL:DR dark souls 2 is fun if you enjoyed DS1
