Dammit I wanted to say this before the Talim announcement. Anyways it is ridiculous people saying Talim wasn't popular. She definitely was one of the main characters used throughout the years especially by casuals. The only reason she wasn't used as much after SC2 was they pretty much revamped her style and her place on the tier list caused her to be used by very few specialty players like ZeroEffect and Kura. But trust me she was still used quite a bit and those casuals(and competitive SC2 players) whined like no other(more about her style than her tier, casuals are idiot after all what would they really know about tiers except for what was told to them). Either way this talk I've been seeing about her being forgotten about or never used is just plain silly. Those who played her competitively will flock back to her and casuals will love her because she's one of those characters that you can mash buttons and she does a lot of shit like Maxi. So stop all that shit and know that, especially now, a LOT of people are very happy. (Not me by the way, I hate that bitch with a fire that the depths of hell couldn't even conceive)
 
I dont understand japanese companies logic - zero avertising of their games, almost zero hype trailers. They should learn from netherrealm, really
 
I've never doubted Talim's popularity, but I've always wondered why. Is it just that she's the ultimate "good gal" of the series?

I predict once we get confirmation on SCVI and the roster is released, there's going to be a lot of smug "remember when" comments going around...

That in the almost two decades of playing this series we both have seen infinitely more people play Talim than Taki. Infinitely more people talk about Talim being their baby over the people saying Taki is. And Infinitely more people being upset over her not being in the game than Taki. Anything else?

Actually I'd say it's just about even. Certainly not enough to say "infinitely more". Besides why was she even brought up? It had no bearing on the conversation.

Oh you would? And from what source would you say it's even? Trust me and I'm really not trying to throw this in your face, but we have a LOT more experience with this game/series than you do and I'm telling you it is INFINITELY more. The outcry for Taki really didn't come around till she was left out of this last game. Then all these titty lovers came out of the woodwork. Even then the outcry was just that much louder for Talim. But as far as seeing people playing each character I'm telling you Talim was definitely played so much more.

These forums have the most aggressive mods I've ever seen, people need to start calming down a bit.

Also I've found that bright cute younger girls tend to have a more widespread appeal than older more baddass ones when it comes to videogame and anime characters. I still don't see the point in stating who has a more a widespread appeal though, like that's supposed to undermine the other person's love for their character.

Not really, I was there when SCV was facing backlash and it was pretty equal to me. I remember the huge outcry when Natsu was announced to replace Taki. Anyways, regardless Taki is most popular than everyone but her having gotten 720 votes compared to the next one Mitsurugi getting 594. Also, if we're talking popularity, Taki won her tournament in the showdown while Talim lost to Sophitia in the finals. So make of that what you will.

But do we really need to go on about this stuff? Let's just be happy we're getting our favorite characters back.
 
great news about Talim!! First Xianghua and now Talim. :)

and I would like to see an older, more mature Talim. Unless they go the quasi-reboot route. But even then, I'd like to see an older, more established wind priestess Talim.

oh, and for the record, I'd buy a Sailor Moon game, fighting, musou, or whatever.
 
I just searched and Taki has way more fan art than Talim does on DA. 100,000 to Talim's 5000. Also, I googled "Taki soul calibur" and "Talim soul calibur" and the former drew 400,000 results to the latter's 100,000.

You asked for a source to prove the point isn't true, so I looked it up.
