Speaking of the x-box controller. The 1 direction is starting to bug me on the 1 player side when doing the Silver Moon combo. It has something to do with where your thumb is coming from because the way x-box controller flares out at the handles.

way back when I converted from ps2 pad to stick, it DID make me worse. I was playing GGXX(playing one of more technically demanding characters in a technically demanding game) at the time and purely switched for ease of inputs and the ban on button binding (at the time). The transition was UGLY at first, but after a few weeks/months of practice, it was well worth it for me. The flexibility and accuracy of the stick is superior, imo. That being said there are a few things to remember:

1) is it worth it to switch? You may not see a HUGE increase in execution and the time lost converting may be time lost for such a small benefit. especially in SC4 you may not see a huge advantage against someone without a stick.

2) not all sticks are created equal. There are many options for sticks. Dont just buy any stick off the shelf. Stick, buttons(good ones help with some of setsuka's jfs), and Gate are all important parts so be prepared to shop around.

3) why switch? If you are winning now, keep on doing what works. some people switch just because its "elite" and a want to get to the next level. A stick wont do that, good practice will do that.

Well i really dont think i can improve anymore on my xbox controller there is not many moves i cant do consistently but i can no longer do 66:b on 2p for voldo and amy cause the controllers dpad has broken again

I just made the switch to a stick yesterday, and I can no longer 236 dash :( Though I can 214 dash much easier now, and I find the directions much more accurate because you can feel the gates click. I also find the 2 finger method for JF Umb pretty comfortable in combos. Still can't do moves like Setsuka's a:g:B or Nightmare's iagA though. And that 9 direction is damn annoying to get to.

Cave, I'm PMing you on GGXX tips, cus I am an uber scrub right now.

well keep in mind the transition from a pad to stick can be rough. But I think the end result is well worth it, mostly for 2D games. When you finally get comfortable with a stick your motions become a lot more accurate, for me at least.
