SOULCALIBUR V Broken knight vs Hawkeye

I don't understand this newer concept of trying to "tech trap" (if you can even call it that) after a successful CE with another... especially given how good Hilde's is at long range whiff punishes... it seems like an awful gambit with wayy too much to lose compared to what you'd gain in the situations people are using it... it's as if it's just become one of those random "swag" things to do.
