Are you talking about that "strategy-like" Chronicles of the Sword mode? If so, then yes you can use custom characters for that mode, but only specifically created for it. In the very beginning you create a main character and could add new charaters to your squad either by unlocking them through completing chapters, or by creating new characters.

yeah that's the mode i read about. i don't know how far the creation mode lets you go, but imagine adding characters to your team from fire emblem or disgaea! i really want to play that mode.

problem is, finding the game in nearby retro game stores isn't proving easy. i think i'll have to turn to online stores.

SC5's online mode is full of kids or kid like adults. SC4's online mode is laughable. SC2's online mode may be fine (don't know, i don't play it) but let's face it, SC2 has been arround for a LOOOOONG time, and has little for non competetive players.

combine that with a seemingly unending streak of no news and what else are we gonna do?

I'm pretty sure we've explained to you that hopping on the 8WR discord server (here is the link btw https://discord.gg/ddNu6fZ you can also access the server by clicking on the "Chat" tab at the top of the screen) will give you better options to find and play players that won't act like children or insult you.

SC4 is a meme game

the netcode for SC2 on dolphin is actually pretty good, I mean sure you might need to adjust a few of the settings to optimise the performance, but UK to US connection was surprisingly decent...as for the "little for non-competitive players", bruv you got plenty of modes to keep you busy

as for the streak of no news...it's explained before to not expect anything till after Tekken 7 has been dealt with, sit tight and be patient.

but hey no one's stopping you from playing pac-man

Though I totally agree with what ZER0 says, it's a pity nonetheless that they started all their polls and showdowns and other "you-want-it-you-get-it" to stop abruptly without any reason ;/

as far as getting on discord, yeah that's great and all, but i wasn't really talking about me specificaly, i meant people in general. i'm just too busy to get serious about that kind of stuff right now. besides, i'm still trying to find my way in the game. really liking astaroths moveset at the moment.

not sure what you mean by meme game, but i'm guessing it's not good.

as for running dolphin, i tried. my laptop's not strong enough to play the game even without online play. besides, i was refering to the HD online version on PSN/XBLA.

and frankly, i'm no fan of tekken. it's a little fun, but as a soul calibur fan, it's just standing in my way at this point. i wish they'd just get the thing out, dissapoint the fans as per usual in today's gaming community and get it over with so they can move on to the game i and many others actually want to play.

and i will add that it is indeed concerning that they would just go dead silent like that. "silent as the grave" as the term goes.

but i digress. i suppose Soul Calibur doesn't need the paddles just yet. but someone needs to keep them on standby. that or Dr. Frankenstein.

I had an idea today while I was thinking about the story. What if Soul Edge/Inferno was destroyed for good in the next game? I'm tired of this endless struggle between the two swords and I'd like to finally see a conclusion here one way or the other. After Soul Edge's destruction the next game could focus on Soul Calibur's moral ambiguity with all the characters slowly waking up to the fact that it isn't the great force for good they thought it was. Some people would still want to use the sword as a force for good while others would try to destroy it. In that way the story would be kind of similar to the original Soul Edge game except for the fact that Soul Calibur isn't as one-sidedly evil as Soul Edge was.

Or instead what if Soul Edge won and destroyed Soul Calibur? Everyone in the game would go through a "we're fucked" phase at first but then they would start looking for new ways to fight Soul Edge and eventually realize they don't need Soul Calibur. The only problem with that is it would be hard to justify calling the game Soul Calibur if the sword didn't exist anymore. I doubt Namco'd want to call the game Soul Edge 2 since it's not as marketable.
