Gaahl's Graveyard of Glistening Souls

I didn't make a base Sephiroth. Also in case it isn't obvious I put multiple character designs in the preview picture since I used them all as references for my design.

Hey, Gaahl: great to see you back! I like your Vincents the most out of this lot, although in terms of fidelity to the original design, your first Cloud also came out really nice! :) Very clever approach to the one shoulder pauldron. Sephiroth is tricky in SCVI, isn't he? Having taken a hand at him myself, I can understand why you decided to try to combine several different variations for inspiration.

If I may recommend though, you might find that Siegfried's oversized katana works better for him. Not just because it's closer to Sephiroth's famously/absurdly long sword, but also because several of Siegfried's stances are good matches for Sephiroth's postural mannerisms; Mitsu (and characters using his style) tend to stoop a little and use a two-handed guard almost exclusively, bringing their orientation down a straight line and leaning forward, legs wide and hands together. Siegfried often handles his weapon one-handed (especially for his poses), and when he does, embraces a more straight-back and open posture, weapon held high and forward or to the side, shoulders squared and legs together. Plus you get to lose the scabbard--which for obvious reasons, is not something we ever see Sephiroth using. Just food for thought!

But just so I don't end this on an unsolicited recommendation, I want to repeat that those Vincent/Chaos design are especially slick and tight. I did something very similar to the first one, just after Hwang dropped, because I saw the same potential in that shawl/cape. But I used Hwang himself as the base, because I like doing those kinds of "Soulcalibur character styled as someone else" type of designs sometimes. And Hwang's floating in the air moves let you kinda-sorta replicate Vincent's movement style from various FFVII-derived works.

Yeah doing an accurate original Sephiroth without it looking cheesy is a bit tough so I didn't bother, I've seen some decent ones out there though, including yours (I like the materia prayer beads lol). Tbh it's been so long since I've booted up this game I forgot Siegfried even has that sword as an option. I'd actually disagree on your point about the stances though I think Mitsu has some stances that are very accurate to ones Sephiroth does, at least for taking pictures. Though maybe Siegfried is better suited for actual gameplay.

It is a very good point about the length of the sword though, in this case size DOES matter. But is it more important than taking the sword that is actually called Masamune? Hard to know for sure. Here he is with Siegfried's style. I gotta say the big sword is doing a lot here, good suggestion.

I made a lot of Aerith.

I really wish you could put textures on those damn cylinders. Barret is hard to make without being goofy.

Omg, preach it, brother. But for what it's worth, the design still works. :)

Edit: That said, a brain that was programmed more than 25 years ago to see Barret's gun hand manifested in a handful of clunky polygons may be helping with that. ;*D

Second edit: I can't quite make out what you used to create the impression of the gatling barrels on the end there. But it works pretty well.

Man, I still think not putting Tifa in as a guest for SCVI was a terrible missed opportunity. Oh well, here's to hoping for a SCVII/FFVII:RM3 synergy casting. ;)

It's the chain lol.

Tifa would be cool but she probably fits Tekken more. Cloud deserves the chance that was robbed from him in SCII, but if they wanna be really cool Yuffie would be extremely awesome.

Oh, of course. :D

Yeah, but they flipped the script to make Noctis a guest in Tekken, despite his being by all measures optimally suited for Soulcalibur.* So the close in time releases of FFVII Remake and SCVI made me feel they should have replicated this inversion of expectations by having Tifa appear in SCVI. Besides, Soulcalibur has occasionally had unarmed brawlers, so it's not like they don't have a template for making such movesets work inside a SC engine.

Personally, I think there's more of a aesthetic and power level issue with Cloud. Plus it's not like we don't already have the "guys wielding implausibly large swords" angle covered in Soulcalibur. Yuffie would actually fit like a glove into the style and mechanics of Soulcalibur, but I don't see her ever being picked: whoever appears as a guest has to have a certain level of capability to move units, and much as I like Yuffie's vibe personally, that's just not her. I still say that Tifa is the happy medium, all factors considered. Not that I wouldn't be excited to see how they reconstructed the movesets of any of the three.

* Although the Project Soul team clearly had sour grapes about this waste of potential, since Azwel is clearly a riff on basically the exact same concept, albeit stapled on top of a guy with the look of a 1940's stage magician / obvious sex offender.
