This also pertains to the Vita games right? If it does, I'll second this post. It's like without a manual, the case does not feel complete.

Disagree, in-game manuals can't disappear on you

true but its also always nice to have a copy readily accessible on hand, not to mention some instruction manuals dont even hold instructions about the game they belong to anymore, and games like halo4 dont even have an instruction manual! so instead of having a simple instruction manual i instead have to keep a laptop on hand just to look at the instructions! not that i need to but still.

and not to mention instruction manuals at one time also held little tidbits and prologues about the story that helped immerse you in the gaming experience. the fact that alot of games are getting rid of this is disturbing. of course i wouldnt exactly say we've been making "improvements" these last few years, rather than catering to casual gamers who dont even want to sit down and read a book.

and why should the developers build an out of the way tutorial mode telling you what every button does for people who are too lazy to even read an instruction manual? its a large scale waste of time that could be spent making other areas of the game better. if people are having that hard of a time figuring something out then they should have the sense to pick up the book and figure things out.

i mean most instruction manuals that actually hold information are only 10-20 pages long, 30-35 in the longer ones. now what is that, 10 minutes of reading? cmon people.

i believe that in game manuals are extremely important for portable systems simply because of their portable nature.

but that doesnt mean that they shouldnt include a fully fledge manual in physical copies as well as a virtual copy and it doesnt mean they should skip out on both virtual and hard copy for a console game. and making players go to a seperate website just to look up a manual has to be the worst idea ive ever seen game manual wise in the gaming industry.

as a kid, my favourite thing was reading the instruction booklet. Especially ones with tons of awesome artwork of the characters and settings, written biographies. Actually the best ones I remember the most are the Donkey Kong Country ones, as the booklet is written in Cranky Kong's voice so it was a fun read.

It's kinda stupid now that if you want a book full of artwork, you need to have had pre-ordered the game or paid extra when it used to be the norm to just have an instruction book showing that!

Ramus likes Mors comment as well.
But I wanted to have something clever to comment as well.

Someone make a "like" button for every subpost. One thing I miss, reading profiles of characters on manuals and prologues.
