360 vs ps3

hello there, I've got a question. So I have a 360 and was curious what the difference was game wise from a ps3.
I know ps3 has free live where as xbox has more shooters. yep thats about all I know.
what I like to do
  • I tend to play rpgs
  • favorite= dynasty warriors(not rpg but oh well).
  • DW dieing on 360. but every game is made on ps3
  • not a huge live person.
So my question is what do yall think is better is based on that?
Do I get ps3 sell 360
save up for ps3
is ps3 vs 360 enough difference to really need to get a ps3
any advice would be great.
I'd prefer reasons why and not get this or get that.
-thanks again :)

If all you're going to be playing is Dienasty Warriors, then PS3 is the only way to go. At least then you can import when DW8 inevitably isn't announced for a western release.

thats not "all" im going to play but its majority... and are there more fun rpgs that are ps3 exclusive?and I have a xbox 360 250g halo reach edition so im sure that will cover most of the price.

Both consoles are good <3 (Anyone who says anything different is most likely a fanboy)
The difference generally is not enough to justify having both consoles, unless you really like the exclusives on both consoles.

As a guy who literally just went through this exact thing, lemme tell yeah what my perception is. Now keep in mind....THIS IS MY OPINION, WHICH MAY DIFFER FROM OTHERS.

I had been hounding my wife for months to let me get a ps3. Deep in my mind I really just wanted one because I wanted to play all the wonderful people in some SC5 when it came out (ill get into what happened there later). But the blueray player intrigued me and I invested in a few blueray movies to see what it was like.

1st thing I noticed when I turned on the ps3. The interface. The whole dashboard on xbox I thought was set up really really well. It was easy to navigate and send/recieve messages, check what friends are online etc. The ps3 version sucked ass. It was way to many buttons to push just to see if I had messages much less send messages. I wasnt happy bout that.

My wife and kids and I love to play CoD/Lego games etc and compete against each other. On xbox you have the capability to sign into different profile names, on seperate controllers. That way you can earn achievments and such all on your own. The PS3 doesnt offer that feature. You can only sign into 1 profile at a time. That blew donkey balls.

And thirdly, and this isnt really anyones fault but: The overall atmosphere (online play wise) jsut seems rather, anti-social. By that I mean, no one communicates and are really off putting. I was tough for me to get matches going in sc5. The load times are horendous, finding matches proves very difficult, and 70% of the time when you do find one....it DC's. Im no internet expert but Id say the servers for PS3 suck ass.

I got yet another xbox last week and it feels REALLY good to be back on xbl. Everything works like it should.

It seems to me you might be right on something. PS3 seems more RPG oriented as to where xbl is more or less all about the online experience. I havent decided if Im gonna keep the PS3 or not. I would be mostly investing in xbox games and the ps3 would be used for PS3 only games/blueray movies.

So thats my opinion. Im think Ima stick to xbox games and consoles from here on out. Take it how you will.

Not true. It is game dependent. Much like in-game music, Sony coded it but left it up to the game developers to implement the feature in their games.

oh ok thats something I didnt know. Then thos CoD people are the assholes then. I played several games on the PS3 but not one of them let me sign into different profiles.

Now Im prolly just some cranky old man who doesnt like change (in fact I know I am). To me the xbox was just better all around.

It is all a matter of preference and games you like.

I have owned both. I recently traded off my Slim PS3 to pay off Xbox 360 reserves.

HRD has a valid point of how I felt whenever I played PS3 online(the few times I did). Seems very solitary. Even when I played Uncharted 2 and 3's MP, there was no communication, no smack talk, no call outs...teamwork was achieved by "Oh, I was just in the neighborhood" and the few times I played a FG...DCs all day(I was WIRED and Opened ports). Not to mention, just about every time I fired up the console I had to Agree to new terms and get a firmware update and every game needed one too, by the time it was all said and done, most of the time I didn't care to play anymore and turned it off. Even though I regularly bought games for it...I rarely played it. It just sat around collecting dust. Which ultimately made me decide to get rid of it. Blu-Ray is cute, but I can install one of those on a PC...but why do that when streaming and downloads exist? Also, I grew up with Nintendo and was a loyalist up until 2002 when I got a Playstation 2 for Tekken. So most of the franchises people love and adore on the console, I don't follow as well. (Except for Uncharted and Fat Princess)

Now. The Xbox isn't all sunshine and rainbows either. Seems the Slim models corrected alot of the RROD issues(I don't hear about it nearly as much) But I went, what...3 to 5 years of replacing and sending my 360s for repair? And Xbox Live...IS the console. Seriously, unless you're running a modded one. The actual Xbox 360 console is damn near useless without an internet connection. It needs internet to be worth a spit...and a $60 sub for online play(and additional features). The power of the Friend's List and Party Chat is pretty huge. I can stay social with the folks I want to stay social with and give the other guys the finger(unless certain games force me out) or if I want to play and call some random shmoe a 'fuckhead' I can do that too. And unlike PSN...I'll most likely get an equally or morally offensive reply at godspeed. But I like shooters. They feel pretty good on console and I really enjoy Gears and Halo, add to the fact most FGs are multi-platform anymore, I no longer NEED a Playstation to practice them.

Back to OP's question. If you don't really use Live and not a diehard for the exclusives on Xbox360. Then yeah, I'd say go for a PS3. I'd recommend holding off a bit to save some dollar or to get a better deal. They are probably going to get cheaper as Black Friday/Cyber Monday looms closer and of course as time nears toward the holidays. Sign up for e-mail letters to Gamestop, Wal-Mart, Newegg, Best Buy, etc...and keep tabs on them.

Just the fact that Playstation is linux-based and still managed to be so tedious shows they took a very solid code and fucked it up. At least Microsoft made good with crappy code instead of making bad with good code.

To elaborate on Rek's post....

Yeah Xbox has its issues to. There are pros and cons for both systems. But Rek put it all very well.

I first got a 360 in late 2005. From then and until I sold my last one (about a year ago) I went through NINE consoles. All but 2 of them were fixed free of charge. It was just the inconvience of not having a xbox for a couple weeks. Aside from the RROD issues (like Rek said is mostly taken care of), I totally agree with what Rek says. The party chat and interface usage is paramount to PS3.

I just got permission from the old lady to sell the PS3. And you know what....I aint all that upset about it.

wow didnt expect so many replies this quickly thanks guys
so basically
ps3
  • rpg oriented exclusives
  • Interface is confusing and just too much annoyance
  • online is socially boring but free for just online
  • onlne connection not very strong (d/c alot)
  • has blu-ray though kind of pointless
  • but has all dynasty warriors essential
  • some doctor who game i read about( if anyone knows about that feel free to respond to that)
360
  • shooter oriented exclusives
  • marketplace is essentially easier to use.
  • gold membership cost money but people are more socially active. (fun to banter)
  • has halo (the only online shooter im good at.)
  • unless slim then it has RROD issues. ( I have a slim so no worries there)
  • my halo reach slim wont sell for much smh
  • not much you can do with out live.( I dont use live all that much)
and yeah black friday/cyber monday other holidays are around the corner. might as well wait. and see discounts.
sounds about right?
and will this new ps3 that just got released fix the speed internet connections issues?

and another thing I didnt like about PS3, you cant send or recieve messages via the internet. I know thats kinda trivial, but it bugged me.

PSN's servers totally suck ass. Not gonna lie.

As for the communication you are also right too, however there are some people who do but most people do not.

As for PS3 RPG exclusive, isn't Dark Souls PS3 only?

PS3 controller is better than xbox's
d-pad-ask.jpg

online is free
the console itself is better, the quality of an xbox is good if you want to save money, but if you can afford it, ps3 is clearly the best option

the only thing i find "better" on the xbox than in the ps3 is the kinect, ps3 move sucks, but bleh, those complements are stupid imo

Not true. It is game dependent. Much like in-game music, Sony coded it but left it up to the game developers to implement the feature in their games.
And yet I have yet to see it implemented in A SINGLE GAME. I have sincere doubts in light of this fact. It's one of the things that really cheeses me off when I wanna play a game with somebody else.

Not like I hate my PS3 but there are a lot of things I miss when I play games on it and this is one of them.

You know wombat you are one of like 3 or 4 people i will regret leaving

What? You're leaving?

Both are good, online wise...Xbox I think long shoot but you can have fun in PS3....I think if you wish both are fine....But since I don't think Ps4 is going to come any soon and neither is Xbox720 ;P pick the one you like most.
About Rpg.... well don't expect much from the new generation.....
