Am I about to get RROD?

I tried to connect my 360 up to go online but my connection fails. I switched cables and even tested them on my computer. They work fine from computer to modem of course. This started about a month and a half ago, I've tried a few times since then, but with finals and such I haven't really had much time to dedicate to this problem. Has anyone had a similar situation or heard of something like this? Is there an easy fix? Thanks in advance.

if youre xbox turns on and you can get to the dashboard ok, then Id say the problem lies in your connection to the internet. Perhaps modem, router type stuff. try hooking up straight from the xbox to the modem and see if that works. If it does you know youre problem lies elsewhere.

But if you cannot get the xbox to turn on and get to the dashboard. you would see the rrod on the console. You possibly could be showing signs of it failing soon. but hard to say. would need to know more to give a better answer.

Im currently on my 6th damn console. I had a different rrod error everytime I had a problem.

Yeah it turns on fine and plays fine but I direct connect it to the modem and it doesn't work. I hope it's just the port on the 360.

sounds like it to me. Weird you didnt get any error codes though. You are able to run a connection test through your xbox. Run the test and if it says it loses connection AT the modem. Then its either the port or your modem (which I dought)

good luck

Well, I have a question. Are you running from your modem to a router first and now just trying to run the modem directly to the Xbox? I had the same type of problem but with a ps3 and when I wanted to play online, it wouldn't connect so I had to call my phone/internet provider to set it up. Took about 2 hours to fix everything again back to normal with the router. This is just my 2 cents.

Well I tried to use a router back in November, it worked at first but then after a week or so I was only able to get one connection to work. So I had been connecting directly to the modem from December until it stopped in March. I've sent a question into Microsoft but haven't heard back from them yet but if they tell me I need a new machine I'm glad it's still under warranty from when I bought it in October. I'll try to call the ISP and see if they can reset it an hopefully that will help.

the xclamp fix for the back of the mother board is the most common fix of the RROD's. However some say it fixes it permenatly more say its a temporary fix. Ive tried it twice on 2 different consoles. and of course they were both temporary.

The soldering losseness refers to that chip that the heat sink sits on top of. Im brave enough to put clamps on a mother board. but I aint tryin to solder anything. That will for sure fuck my console...lol
