Another Custom Stick.

Here's my latest custom stick, built for a bloke in Greece. It's pretty much a refinement of earlier designs, with bevelled and polished edges to make it less angular and more pleasing, rubber feet, different engraving and a Sanwa JLF instead of my usual JLW.
The case is made of 10mm acrylic as last time.

The printed artwork and colour scheme is all his, most of the engraving design mine.

Very sleek. Engraving really sells it. Would love to add this to mine but im only a graphic artist, not a craftsman.

Thanks for the comments, lads. He did originally want to go with black rings and white buttons until he realised how much more it would cost him.

This joystick is really amazing, BE. While I myself do not like using japanese sticks, I can appreciate the level of detail and skill it's taken to make something like this. How durable is the material that you used? Would a Krit toss crack it in any way? Also, do you suspect that the screws on top might become an issue of getting in the way? Mainly the bottom left, and top right ones. Were they really nessasary to be there in the first place? I also like how you drilled a deep hole for the guide button, but why not use an 18mm button for the guide/ps button? Nobody really needs a gigantic guide button.

Well, we were gonna originally use smaller buttons for the guide/back/start buttons but the stockist had nothing smaller than Sanwa 30's in white, so the guy decided on using white 30's instead. The material is grooved, slotted together and just shy of 1/2" thick, so is sturdy enough for my daughter to stand on. I've also reinforced it inside.

The screw placement is exactly the same as my on own stick and I've never had problems with them being the way. That said, it may be different of other people depending on how they use/postion it when they're playing. In the future I could either counter-sink or tape down the top plate if people do find that a problem. :)

Yeah, it might be an issue for games like MvC2 where you need to slide your hand across the buttons really fast, and wiggle the joystick back and forth alot. Just thinking about cuts and scrapes.

I have the same exact case. But the buttons are placed different. Is that a plastic casing? Where/how did you find a case like that. My case is just all particle wood. Thanks.

It's doubtful that you have the exact same case as it's built from scratch out of perspex, with only the top button layout copied. The rest was to my own spec and measurements.

Aight. I will upload some pics tonight. The ONLY difference is that mine is at a slant. I just saw that your's is flat. Also my layouts is different, But other than that, Exactly the same. So the caseing is made out of perspex???

The point was that it's not exact, is it? The basic shape of the box is fairly common for custom sticks. Yeah, the casing is 10mm perspex, but is as thick as 15mm in some places. It weighs a good 7lb, anyway.
