A Kindred Spirit! There is no such thing as too many belts, chains, and pockets. Speaking of which, what about a belt dress like Lulu's from FFX?
Woohoo, another gothic fashion fan.

And for Lulu, while I did like her dress, I felt that all those belts were a bit too much for my taste. I would have liked the outfit more if she didn't have all those belts but as a whole, I did enjoy it. :)

I'd look more clothing that touched up on Gothic lolita styles like Ninon Beart and Emilie De Rochefort (Not gothic per say but her outfit would be perfect for a Gothic-esq outfit).

And also some underbust corsets for males too. :)

I want more of everything. Modern, period, ethnic. That way everyone can have a wide range of things they like and then we can all make out with the clouds under the rainbows.
~sparkle~
Modern wear to me just feels too out of place, too tacky for the theme of the game. With all other game creators that can keep consistancy as little as this I'm sure more variety in armour culture would be easily enough diversity. Its already hard enough to really se what type of atmosphere SC is trying to create with 5.

I think Gothic Armour would be a nice compramise and fit in with whatever Army of Darkness is. Its the small reach to fantasy that works without going too far.

Agreed, but other people love it so I don't mind if it get's included. I won't BUY it, but that's me.

I hope she has fun getting her arm chopped off... Or getting stabbed in the groin. Armor should cover the entire body.
Ex. any female heavy armor from Dark Souls and Dragon Age. I would mention Witcher but that game is nearly historically accurate when it comes to females that actually fought during those times, I'll give you a hint (absolutely none). Even if a woman fought they would hide their face and try to blend in with the males since they wren't allowed to fight for armies. But since we are talking about female armor Dark Souls and Dragon Age are the best examples of armor I can think of right now since every other game the female armor has that stupid tit plate or doesn't cover the entire body. Btw when I say "entire body" I'm not including the head because game designers don't give them helmets so people can identify with the characters better.

Reason it's bad: Cleavage window, armor not covering thighs, chest, or elbows. I don't even know what that thing on her chest is supposed to be. A plate corset? >.< Saddest part is that this is the most conservative female armor in that entire game...
For other examples of bad armor design just look at any MMO, nearly any RPG, or just about any game that features female characters wearing armor of any kind...

in address to female fantasy armor:

Please read this article here: http://martwhim.tumblr.com/post/40061546009/why-do-you-hate-the-shape-of-breasts-in-plate-armor-so

Another lesson: the so-called boob plate can be made (Ryan made the one pictured here), but it would be dangerous to wear in battle.

That there, that is a boob plate. I made that one. The woman in the photo asked for it to be like that. She fights in it. I worry constantly that she's going to fall hard and it will crack her sternum, even with the padding. Note also that it seems almost perfectly designed to guide sword points and arrows into her heart. They still have to penetrate the armor but, honestly, that's a design flaw.

source: http://kotaku.com/5868925/the-problem-with-womens-armor-according-to-a-man-who-makes-armor

basically, the way plate armor even works besides this is that there is so much padding and such underneath the metal plate itself, that the figure of the person beneath essentially all but vanishes. the main purpose of armor in the first place is to deflect blows, not to absorb. in the case of these people - the armor would probably be fine, but they would probably die from sternum fractures simply due to the amount of force that is being redirected into their chest. armor is worn for protection, not to look pretty.

here's some nice ladies wearing much better armor:
These two ladies here, i think are pretty good looking, even in their plate armor:

and here's some chain armor. none of that "chainmail bikini" crap. such is not only unrealistic, impractical, and relatively silly looking, but would also result in chafing of the flesh. and well, chafing isnt exactly a pretty thing to look at. keep that in mind the next time you see a "chainmail bikini" or the likes:

well thats my two cents for this. im done. please proceed. ^-^

Reasonable snip

I understand what you are saying. Armor like what I posted wouldn't be good for battle but I mean, this is Soul Calibur. Half the women in SC wear things that aren't suitable for battle. Realistically, they'd be getting their limbs cut off with ease. Hilde is pretty much the only female character who wears a true warrior outfit that seems good for battle.

Anyway to the topic at hand. I understand what you are saying and I used to back in the day how a lot of the women in SC wore clothes that didn't seem appropriate for fighting with swords but I eventually let it go and just roll with what they have. So that's why I wouldn't mind seeing armor like I posted but I would like to see armor resembling your suggestions too. :)

I understand that Namco discontinued the DLC, but why is it that some of the available DLC is no longer present? Did they delete some entries and if so why?

I know how you feel man.

Was so glad she had those shoulder guards to protect her.,>:P

Not but all serious, I think the females wear what they weapon and character personality wise asks.
But I do agree they should give more armor that looked proper for the girls and stuff.

I don't think you got the message. I'm just sick of the fucking tit plate and armor that barely covers anything in games... I wasn't even addressing that all characters should wear armor. I never said that in my post. That entire post was about how tit plate is retarded and some examples of good armor design(aka w/o tit plate and actually covering body). The armor doesn't even have to be historically accurate, I just want it to cover the entire body and not have tit plate. That was the whole point of that post. I couldn't care less if some ninja girl didn't wear armor or if Ivy walked out of the house with some floss on. Just to reiterate my point again... I just want tit plate to go away and for armor to not make a woman look like a stripper.

This whole rant really just comes from the fact that in 98% of games I can't even make a character that even looks like a black person so I opt to play a female in the game. Then I get annoyed with the armor designs because my warrior decided she wanted to be a stripper. I can't even get immersed in 95% of the RPGs and MMOs I play because of tit plate.

One last time just to say my point again, tit plate is retared and should go away. Not to mention that if the character has armor at all they should just go all the way with it if that character is of a warrior archetype.

Oh and Ramus, I know you're trolling. :P

Dat armor debate
That would make a cool armor set for guys. And perhaps something like this might be good for the female set?

shanoa-coe.jpg

Slightly offtopic since you posted that picture As a side note, Shanoa as a guest in SC6 would be great, or anyone from castlevania, hell I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually would get rid of DJ for any castlevania guest....just as long as they don't use the shitty judgement designs, everyone with the exception of alucard looked retarded. WHY THE FUCK DID THEY TURN SHANOA INTO A NUN

Your good examples seem plain & boring, but there not that bad. I can enjoy playing the game with females wearing that kind of armor. Your bad examples I find to be bad-ass! The first pic looks like a badass chick who controls Sauron's army & is very powerful; not to be fucked with at close quarters (Hell, she might even own all those people in that last pic on the good example side). Maybe if she had a bit of demonic powers, she'd look even better. The white haired woman is great because it provides the necessary eye candy needed to captivate my attention towards playing the game further. She would look a whole lot better if I could see her weapon though. (preferably held)

I like your taste in what you think is bad, I think is badass. Gives me that right at home feeling in my time of gaming of seeing chicks who look like that is about to own somebody. n.n

I'd like it if characters could switch the hand they use their weapons with. Aside from Link, all sword and shield users have been right-handed. If you use their styles, you could choose to have the custom hold the sword in the left hand and the shield in the right! Animations could be mirrored to accomplish this!

If they would bring back the Good/Evil and Excited/Calm meter that affected the customs' lines, players would be able to manually adjust it themselves, rather than it being based on the equipment they wear.

I would like it if they eyes could be changed, rather than just the color. You'd have the option to choose glowing eyes like the one Pyrrha Omega and Siegfried (in the opening of SC5) had! Maybe even more eye options.

I would also like them to make facial expressions! Imagine all the cool, cute, or even funny expression you could do for the snapshots! Speaking of which, how about more poses, in which sitting and lying down in various environments!

Excuse for recycling a post from another thread, I didn't know a thread like this had already existed. So, what are your views on my ideas?

That affects animations, so it affects hitboxes and gameplay. They could correct for it, but that adds on to all the work they already have to do, which would complicate making the game and push back the release, all for a cosmetic consideration. I don't like it.

Personalities that affect lines can already be directly assigned. Not needed.

Might be worth it, but glowing eyes without pupils and irises are already perfectly possible via special equipment.
I would also like them to make facial expressions! Imagine all the cool, cute, or even funny expression you could do for the snapshots! Speaking of which, how about more poses, in which sitting and lying down in various environments!
I guess that'd be nifty, but it's nothing I'd get super hyped or upset over.
