Cervantes Q&A / General Discussion

Slow down your input to get the JF. The window is comparably pretty big, but you want to make sure you hit B just as the 1A lands. The JF only comes out if it's a counterhit, but it's good to always practice the timing regardless of CH. 1AB is a great move anyways.

Ah, okay. That helps a lot. I wasn't really sure if the JF came all the time or only on counter, thanks for the input. And yeah, 1AB is still an awesome move most players can't block it well.

Watching Evo, I'm sure I saw Cerv shoot the floor. Were my eyes tricking me, or did that happen? And if so, what's the input for it? Much obliged.

Perhaps you saw the just-frame, counterhit version of Scissor Lifter? Cervantes's 1A,B doesn't require a just-frame input to pull off, but if you score a counterhit with it, and you got just-frame timing, then 1A:B best and extra attack added to the end if it, which is a downward-angled gunshot.

I see, that explains why I couldn't find it in the lab. I figured it was CH related, but wasn't aware of the JF either. Thank you very much.

Hello, Cervantes community. I'm planing on playing Cervantes as my secondary character and I'd like to know what "iGDR" means, since it seems to be a good move judging by how it is referred to in several posts I've been reading. Can one of you explain to me what it means, please ?

instant Geo-De-Ray (I think).

It's essentially when you pull off a GDR as fast as possible, causing Cervantes to flash white and perform the attack much faster than a standard GDR.

To echo what everyone else said, iGDR stands for "instant Geo Da Ray". It's listed in Cervantes's move list as "Geo Da Ray Conclusion" and is sometimes also referred to as GDRC for this reason (the most prominent example of this is the official SCV guide from Future Press). You discuss the move with the rest of the Soul Arena in this thread.

This move actually dodges and punishes all yoshi's indian style attacks, so it has some use. Although any intelligent yoshi would just teleport in front of you and punish you, so yeah... Have fun with it if you're fighting an idiot! :)

2B+K beats ALL IND stance teleports.

Yeah, about the iGDR. I wasn't able to pull it off. And when I do, it's only lucky shots and stuff.

Anyway, do you guys have a surefire way to pull off iGDRs frequently?

Just do it fast, never try to do it during the recovery of an attack (will always result in the slow stance GDR), and be sure to press the B at the same time as the 4. Basically if you can do the JF flash on Pyrrha/Pyrrha Omega/Patroklos's 236Bs, it's the same thing but with 214 instead.
