Character Roster is culturally uneven

As I said, it wasn't as blatant. I said it had some, not none whatsoever.

In SCV, it's actually quite jarring to compare a new character to a returning one, because one is a blatant anime cliche while the other isn't.

even if i did it my self wouldnt make tht big a difference becuase whites are the majority and what that majority does goes. until (lets say) Majority privlege is understood by the majority its close to impossible that minority has more stories than one.
thats the Majority privlege.

9:20 the person was obvioulsy saying give money to black infrastructre not black people since whites have had the privlege of running down neighborhoods with white flight caused by the fear that more black people will drive down property rates or just supercede the culture in a neighbor by gentrifying it

i would love to see this dude go at Tim Wise ha

I can only think you have never seen an anime from before SCV to be able to say that.

No, I'm a huge anime fan and I've been watching it since I was a kid. But if you honestly can't see it, then I don't what to say.

I'll give you an example using Siegfried and Sanosuke from rurouni kenshin. They are both young men who fight with big swords that have a troubled past they initially try to run away from but eventually come to accept and atone for their sins.

Well if you are implying they based Siegfried off of Sanosuke or were influenced. That probably didn't happen. Soul Blade came out in 1995, the original manga for Kenshin came out in 1994. By the time they came to the Sanosuke arc and the time needed to make Soul Blade. Timing wouldn't fit. Sanosuke also breaks his giant spear sword and uses his fists in that anime. Hell, his sword isn't even a sword. FF7 would be a better comparison but that came out even later.

If anything, Siegfried was based on European weaponry like the Claymore. A completely oversized sword used by the Scottish and other countries. So yeah, you can make comparisons but that comparison seems a bit sloppy imo.

First off I want to break down the insult given to me by Ichi. "XBL Orator".

Ill break it down for you, its a juxtaposition. XBL is full of a lot insentive idiots (cough, cough) to be an orator in a place where the qualifications to be one lack complexity means the opposite of its defintion.

and if you white and in hip hop hells yeah you can be in Def Jam but that doesnt change the fact that youre still an offensive little prick for telling me to play that instead

Whites are in the minority. The largest racial populations in the world are the Indians and Chinese.

The same shit character wise I mean. There is much more than just Sanosuke to base him off of. Its an archetype employed frequently in anime. Just like how everyone likes to compare Natsu to Naruto, but forget Naruto isn't the only demon possessed character to exist just the most popular one right now.

hahahahhahaha, you wanted a game with more black people right? If someone was complaining that Cali is too warm, I would tell them to move to Canada. If someone told me they didn't get enough spicy food, I would tell them to eat Indian. The fact is, there are games with plenty of black people in them. Other games with very few or none. Should all videogames have black people in them? Seems kind of ridiculous to me. What makes black culture so important it needs to be included in everything? Namco is based in Japan where there are little or no black people. I've been there multiple times, with the exception of tourists, U.S. military, and the Russians who live in the north part of Japan. It's pretty much all Japanese people. So if the Japanese make a videogame and leave black people out. You see where that makes sense right? And if you are complaining about too many asians made in a game by Asians...... well.......... congrats?

Question: Why are people so bothered about there being no black people in the game? It's not some sort of subliminal message.

it doesnt have to be sybliminal, it just means in the context of media where black people have not be welcomed or portrayed with substance even in Japanese media, Animes so and so (mr popo cough, cough), when someone is trying to advocate a posititve image and acknowledge that black people are present within this world it makes me at least a little happier and more proud of the game like Tekken (though i think Bruce should be Thai so they can get a lil representation for their beautiful art of muay thai).

I personally love the fact that Zasalamel didnt have a afro or wasnt really emphasized that he was black. I can be more than just a black person, but we take a step back and I have to go to the first step of just getting black ppl in media in the first place.

And thank you for asking this question without a disrepectful and slightly racist/condescednding tone. THIS IS ALL I WANTED. GOSH

There's also the subtler issue of who you want representing these various groups. Alex's point about the homogeneity of Japanese society is pretty relevant to this, particularly in light of previous Japanese representations of black people in anime, games, etc which fall on the spectrum somewhere between hopelessly misguided and thoughtlessly cruel.

Still, even if Namco is up to the task (Zas shows that they can get this right), whether or not they're obliged to represent everyone remains an open question. SC is a period piece which spans Eurasia--is it necessarily wrong that Namco elected to include groups based primarily around this narrative element?

, you wanted a game with more black people right?
no i wasted diverse game where blacks get some reresentation like Tekken

"reresentation"? Can you please start using spell check? It's built into this forum and lets you know when you spell something wrong. You really have no excuse. Also, tekken pretty much has the same black person multiplied. Since Eddy, Tiger, and Christie have the close to the same move set. I don't think that adds a lot, but maybe I'm wrong about that? Would you be happy if there was a black dude with Pat's move set? Seems kind of lazy to me.

I really don't see why people hated the art in Soul Calibur IV, the Gothic and gloomy feeling was a nice set, considering everyone was an walking tragedy....well everyone but Mitsu and Algol....well Algol was but I dislike him.
Everyone was a walking tragedy, but Mistu, he was just there to kick ass xD

LOL AT ALL OF THIS. THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE LACK OF RACIAL DIVERSITY IN THIS GAME IS PROFOUNDLY DUMB (FILTHY CASUALS…). IF YOU THINK THAT NAMCO OR PROJECT SOULS HAS HAD AN AGENDA (SINCE SOUL BLADE) TO PROMOTE EUROPEANS AND ASIANS, WITH THE EXPRESS INTENT OF EXCLUDING OTHER RACES IN ORDER TO PLACE MORE EMPHASIS ON OTHERS, YOU'VE GOT A TOUGH CASE TO BACK UP. DOES AFRICA EVEN HAVE A NATIONALLY ESTABLISHED OR WELL-KNOWN WEAPONS STYLE? THEY'VE GOT CAPOEIRA, WHICH IS ACTUALLY IN TEKKEN, BUT THAT'S MARTIAL ARTS, NOT WEAPONS ARTS. PLUS, I GUARANTEE YOU THAT MOST WESTERN GAMES EXCLUDE ASIANS AND ASIAN CULTURE, SO LET'S COMPLAIN ABOUT THOSE TOO. SOME GAMES ARE MEANT TO HAVE A CULTURAL OR HISTORICAL BASE. IT WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE TO SEE SOME HISPANIC GUY USING ASIAN OR GREEK FIGHTING STYLES IN THE SETTING OF SOUL CALIBUR.

So why don't you go on Kickstarter and fund a game that caters to your desires instead of attempting to blackwash an established franchise as part of some retarded social justice diversity agenda?

It's the same shit with feminist fake gamer cunts like Anita Sarkeesian and her legbearded dyke supporters crying about the lack of female representation in videogayman. It's just retards looking for something utterly trivial to bitch about.

Fortunately, Japanese game devs couldn't give less of a fuck about SJW crocodile tears and will continue making the games they want to make instead of trying to pander to people whose primary interest in the videogame industry stems from their political ideals and not their actual appreciation for the medium.
