Concerns About SC4 Hori Stick EX2 for Xbox 360

The quality varies on recent Hori's. The cheaper the build, the more likely things won't work reliably for long.

Yeah all the Hori's I've owned have worked great with very few flaws. On the SRK forums people tend bash Horis like crazy. Years ago they were some of the best sticks available in the US. I dunno when all the quality issues started arising.

I recently purchased the Real Arcade Pro stick for my PS3 and it's been great so far. My only gripe is that the four "face" buttons (square, circle, triangle, X) are too close to the stick, but that's easy enough to adapt to after a few hours. Plus it works on my PC, which is an added bonus when I'm playing emulated games.

The quality issues are only really with their low end stick. The hrap is still solid, especially if you can get a special addition. Probably the main issue that srk has with the fs3's is the fact that they aren't easily moddable, so the weaknesses of the stick are more difficult to overcome.

If this EX2 has a sanwa JLF joystick like the HRAPs, it can be modded to have a very short throw and a tight spring, with almost no dead zone. Look here:

I did this mod to my HRAP2 along with an octagonal restrictor. It is a night and day difference, I wanted to switch the sanwa out for a seimitsu, but now, it is MUCH better than a stock seimitsu. Shorter throw, tighter spring, and tiny dead zone.

After that, if you can easily switch the buttons out for genuine sanwa buttons like on the HRAPs, it is so worth it to do as well. Seriously, if you brush your sleeve across the top of a sanwa button, it will register a button press - it really is that sensitive.

The X button on my EX2 went all to hell about a month ago, after roughly six months of use. Not terribly amused by it. Bit the bullet and ordered a custom.
