Controller Conservation

I've been attempting (attempting, not succeeding) in learning Cervantes. Through painstaking hours of practice, I got iGDR down pretty good, mebbe 90%+. Well, to get to the point, my d-pad is now an unresponsive, flaccid piece of worn-out rubber. It now feels more akin to a maxi-pad then a d-pad. I have another controller, but I don't want it to end the same way, what do I do? Seriously, it (the first controller) no longer responds to any 214.

1. to make your dpad work the correct way

2. Use the analog stick to to IGDR.

3. Buy an arcade stick.

I can vouch for the dpad fix. It works just like a normal dpad should. However, for IGDR, I use the analog stick. I'm thinking about upgrading to an arcade stick because of the overall advantage.

Thanks! I don't think an arcade stick would be viable for me right now, but using the joystick sounds good.
