I'm a huge fan of your series, I will always have a spot in my heart for Soul Calibur. My favorite of them all is part 3 because it had the hugest upgrade of the series. You gave us character creation mode, new styles, new characters, and Chronicles of the Sword mode. Soul Calibur was improved also in part 4 with better visuals, a more balanced fighting system, and online mode. Taking my created character online was great with only small issues like lag or poor sportsmanship. SCIV is good but it feels less like a game and more like a sport. It's too competitive and limited, there are no extra modes to have fun on, it's all win by KO or ring out. This game needs some changes made and some variety for it's players.
First thing's first, as a Soul Calibur player, I'm on this game a lot. My friends and I are usually in a room fighting and chatting, having a good time. Sometimes one of us has an extra friend who wants to join the room but it's only 4 players at a time. I feel a private room should give a player the option to set the maximum amount of people in a room.
When my friends and I talk, it's usually about Soul Calibur 3 and it's many game modes and fighting styles. We would say things like,"Wouldn't it be cool if we can team up in Chronicles of the sword mode together?" We talk about a bunch of potential game modes SCIV could've had other than versus. More modes would make this game a lot better.
Create a character mode has been upgraded well, giving us the ability to edit body definition, but we cannot edit the height. Sometimes when I create a fighter I feel like I have very limited options. Most gamers I know are artists and they feel the same way I do. All of our characters end up looking the same most of the time because we cannot edit the faces, only pick them. From what I've noticed from gaming all of my life is gamers are constructive, we love to create as much as we love to play. I really hope you guys worked on this mode a lot in your upcoming game SCV.
I really want to thank you for taking time out of your day for reading this letter, it's from a fan's point of view about Soul Calibur. I wish you greater success in the future so you can have a fan base even larger than Tekken.
