Dedup's CAS Characters

Some new creations and some fun with the skeletons! Its kinda late here so I'll update this posts with the backgrounds tomorrow sometime.

(edit: backgrounds now posted)

Tiamat

I was trying to thinks of a character that would justify Yoshimitsu's spinning hand and general weirdness and decided to go with the idea for a construct that would be Astaroth's rival.

Tiamat came out decent but there are some things I had issues with.

I was trying to go with a somewhat futuristic look for and I think the hex pattern pulls it off well enough. Not too sure about the undergarment when the armour breaks though. I stole that idea from someone's Iron Man CAS but it doesn't seem to come off as well on Tiamat though. I'll probably keep it unless I can think of something else.

I was going to put the Dragonfly wings on her, but the flag kind of spoils the look so I kept it off.

The shoulder armour sort of floats around her shoulders so I used the raccoon tail to make it look a little more part of the armour.

I wanted to make a laser type sword like Yoshimitsu has in Tekken but found that the colours weren't bright enough for the blade.

Malcar served as a disciple of Kunpaetku for many years in the Fygul Cestemus sect. Though he assisted in the creation of Astaroth, in heart he thought the creature brutish and lacking refinement. Malcar abandoned his master when Astaroth returned to destroy the sect. In his wanderings he was visited by an image of Hephaestus. "Malcar, I see your heart and summon you to service. Follow the star find the tools required to create what you desire. The servant of my wretched brother Ares lives yet and will in time create more abominations to serve him. This I shall not allow." Awed and confused by the sudden conscription in to the god's service, Malcar looked to the sky to see a star oddly glowing. The star among the million of other stars seemed to compel his feet to move and before the night was over he found himself before a cave carved into the hillside of the forest. The cave entrance was lit by a torch but seemed to slope deep into the blackness of the earth. Taking the torch, Malcar descended into the depths to eventually find an immaculate workshop with all tools he could desire to fuel his creation. Malcar worked tirelessly on his design, pouring the resentment he felt for his former master into the creation. After years of work with out food or rest, Malcar finished his creation. "You shall be called Tiamat." As the word left his lips he realized that the unnatural fires that had sustained him for all these years were leaving him. Malcar's eyes closed, never to see his creation fulfill his work. Out of the shadows of the chambers Hephaestus emerged. "Thank you mortal. Your will be well rewarded for service in the next life." Turning, the god scrutinized the fruits of Malcar's labour, "Tiamat eh? You know your purpose for it was infused in the very tools your creator used to forge you. Now go and fulfill your destiny." Without a word Tiamat turned and strode from the cave with a task it could not vary from.

Nicademus

For my first skeleton character I decided to go with a hidden skeleton with a jester theme. Used Elysium's move set for her critical edge.

Unfortunately, once the armour breaks the pants look silly on the skeletons, but I couldn't find another way to completely hide the skeleton without pants. It makes me wish we could flag what equipment breaks and what doesn't.

I also tried to make the skeleton look a metallic gold but was unsuccessful. No matter what patterns I used it always just came out yellowish and the skeletons don't allow stickers so I couldn't try anything with the zipper. Ultimately went with the cracked bone look but may change it later if I can think of a way to make it metallic or if Namco ever gives us a burning skeleton like that Cervantes alt in Quick Battle.

No one knows where the dread jester, Nicademus, came from. But his appearance is always a harbinger of disaster. Known to speak unfortunate truths, he appears in the courts of nobles to joyfully fortell their fall and the faults that brought them, or will bring them, to this unavoidable fate. As the current conflict grows, Nicademus appears more frequently to the dismay of those in power. Though many have sought to silence the jester, any attempts have been ruthlessly put down by Nicademus himself with weapons that seem to appear from nowhere. No one knows what he gains from the chaos but it sure that as long as people suffer Nicademus will revel in it.

Skallagrim

So after I finished the hidden skeleton I wanted to make one that wasn't afraid to show it. Remembering how some people around here made blood stains, I went with a bloody viking theme. I may have gone a bit overboard with the blood stains but a blood drenched skeleton looks pretty cool. I would have made the axe bloody as well but the only axe that accepts patterns is the Egyptian one which doesn't fit the viking theme. I also stole the idea of using the raccoon tail for a beard.

In the 9th century lived a viking so vile and murderous, he was slain by his own people to stop his rampage. Now, 800 years later, the conflict of mystical energies has awakened Skallagrim's old bones. Striding from the sea where his body was cast so many centuries ago, a terrifying figure unleashes a cry that is madness manifest. With no other purpose than bloodshed, Skallagrim cuts and burns his way across the countryside.

Tiamat 2.0

I made some adjustments and decided to make her armour black since it seemed to show off the "circuitry" patterns a little better. I also removed the hexes as it made things look a little too busy. Its not perfect but I think its a little better than her previous incarnation. I may make more adjustments in the future.

EDIT
I've used the zipper on the body suit and got rid of the glossy pants. I like how the "circuity" comes through on the arms and getting rid of the pants makes her look better without armour. I am happier with this version than previous versions and probably wont tinker with her again.

Storm Crow

Since I had made a cowboy character I decided to make a Native American. Oddly enough I used the cowgirl stuff from one of the dlcs to do it. The loincloth clips through the chaps a bit but still doesn't look too bad. Used Aeon's moveset since the axes were the closest thing to tomahawks and the game doesn't really have anything else appropriate for a Native American character.

Storm Crow had lived with her tribe in relative peace for many years. She had heard rumour of the white men who had come from across the sea but had paid no mind to it. However that had changed when a group of them had come to claim their ancestral hunting ground. Storm Crow was sure that the chief would call the men to war and drive the invaders away, but was shocked the day her chief announced that he had made a deal to share the land. Storm Crow's brother was outraged and argued vehemently with the chief in front of the white men pointing accusing fingers at them. He had heard the rumours as well, that the promises of the white men would bring nothing but destruction to the tribe. While the argument continued, Storm Crow called a warning to her brother, for one of the white men raised his weapon and pointed it at him. The warning was too late as with a loud bang, Storm Crow's brother fell to the ground, a smoking hole in his chest. The tribe was enraged by this act but was quickly calmed by the chief who told them to go about their daily duties.

After performing the burial rites for her brother, Storm Crow became restless with hate for these men who would invade her tribe's lands and took her brother from her. The men of her tribe were also angered by their arrogance but would not move to defy the chief. Frustrated, she sat by the fire contemplating what to do, when the translator for the white men approached and sat across from her by the fire. This baffled Storm Crow for surely this man must know he is hated just as much as the white men, he was not of their tribe but acted like the place was home. He began speaking to her of many things ranging from the deals he brokered with other tribes to strange customs of whites. Storm Crow ignored him hoping he would get bored and go away. The man then spoke of a rumour from lands across the sea of a magical weapon capable of defeating any enemy. This got Storm Crow's attention who then persistently asked the man all he knew of these rumour. When finished she bid the translator good night and went to her brother's tent with a plan. Storm Crow took up her brother's axes and left the tribe. She would stowaway on one of the white men's boats and search their lands for the weapon that would avenge her brother and free her tribe forever.

Lady Elyse

Was just messing around with the dlc items and found the coat from the music dlc would make a good noble character. I made the coat pure white which gives it a pretty cool glow on many of the stages. I added some fur items to finish the look. I used alpha Pats style at it looks pretty controlled and precise most of the time which is what I was going for.

The Baron had died 4 years ago. Despite this Elyse still missed her father. Especially now that her brother had taken over the barony. Despite increased taxation of the people, the coffers were nearly empty from the new baron's drunken revels. Elyse wondered how she and her brother could be so different for she had always embraced the discipline taught by her father in all things, including swordsmanship. She would have forced her brother abdicate except that tradition forbade women from the title of baron and she knew of no men she could trust with such a responsibility. When the war against the malfested broke out, all sorts of rumours reached the castle, including one of Graf Dumas resurrecting the dead. Though such a rumour was impossible, Elyse decided to take up her sword and investigate herself. If the rumours were true, perhaps her father could be resurrected and take back the barony from his bumbling son. If they were false, Elyse would raise her own army and take the barony herself, traditions be damned.

Kumbhakarna

I wanted to make a rakshasa character like I've seen in D&D games which were a race of evil tiger people who primarily used magic and illusions. The name I just got by google rakshasas in hindu lore. Once the character was made I started looking into rakshasas a little more and realized the ones from the myths have little to do with the D&D ones as they don't even seem to have tiger features. Fortunately I didn't have much of a background thought out for him so in his bio I just used a made up tiger spirit to justify the appearance.

EDIT
I've added fur to his chest as it looked kind of strange without it. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to be as white as I wanted it but it will do.

Kumbhakarna was rakshasa killed in battle by Rama during the war between Rama and Ravana who was Kumbhakarna's brother. Though long dead, Kumbhakarna's old bones hold power still and have been found by a tiger spirit enslaved to Nightmare. The tiger spirit bonded to the remains building a new form that would terrorize the lands in the name of his master. However, such a creature is not to be taken lightly for once the bones were clothed in new flesh, Kumbhakarna's spirit reemerged and consume the tiger spirit. Kumbhakarna emerged from his hidden tomb and headed west. He could sense the master of the tiger spirit and would have an explanation as to why his remains were to be disturbed.

Aleera

Messing around with some of the DLC I decided to make a blind wanderer type of character. Giving Seung Mina's coat a brown colouring and adding the death cloak gave me the sort of travel worn look I was going for.

I was considering adding some blood to the eye bandage but I only wanted two splotches near the eyes and no matter what I did I was getting too many splotches so I left it as is.

The pants seemed a little too bland so I added the chain for a belt and a pattern to the pants. I like the chain but the pattern I'm not 100% sure about. I might change it in the future.

I gave her Edge Master's move set to go with the blind master theme.

At one time Aleera lived a normal life in her peaceful village. This was until the visions
came. She began to take catatonic fits where her eyes would darken and which would end with
her pronouncing some misfortune that would inevitably come true. The as the visions continued
to manifest Aleera's friends began to shun her and the word witch was often was often
whispered where ever she went. It wasn't long before the priest in town formally proclaimed
Aleera a witch and demanded she be brought to the town square to be burned at the stake.
Knowing that the townsfolk were whipped into a zealous frenzy, Aleera's parents snuck her out
of town before the mob could take her. Unfortunately it was not enough as a few hours later a
small group chased her down on horseback. Aleera was terrified as the men dismounted, knives
in hand, when suddenly she took another fit. This fit was different however. Aleera's vision
darkened but she was still fully aware of her surroundings in a completely instinctual sense.
Then Aleera felt the sudden heft of a weapon in her hand. She didn't know where it came from
but she began to wield it effortlessly, as if it was an extension of her. Aleera became lost
in battle, knowing everything that she was doing but felt like there was no real conscious
control of it. It was but a few minutes before all the men who had come after lay dead on the
ground. Regaining control of her body she sat on the ground, shocked at what had transpired,
she never even realized that the weapon she was using had vanished. She continued to sit,
waiting for her vision to return, but her eyes weren't clearing. Suddenly scared again she
touched her face and felt a wetness. It was then that she realized that during the haze of
battle one of the men had slashed her eyes, she would never see as a normal person ever again
but still retained the instinctual awareness of her surroundings. Aleera wanted to both laugh
and weep at the absurdity of the situation but instead continued her journey away from her
former life.

Now, years later, Aleera continues to wander, letting her visions guide her. She feels
something has awakened and the visions suggest some connection to her and her ability. She
now seeks out the source in hopes that she may get answers to why she was cursed with this
ability.

Father Jacob

I wanted to make a priest character, sort of an inquisitor type. He's pretty basic but I figure most priest clothes are pretty drab in the first place.

I did try to make a priest collar but nothing really worked out. If I can think of anything I'll add it.

For some reason I really wanted to use the mitre hat. Unfortunately it doesn't look like you can change the colour of the white spots on it. I decided to use it anyways though the white areas still bother me.

I made him fat but used slim build option. Sometimes I think it ended up looking a little strange. I may experiment with it further.

I gave him Kilik's moveset as it was the only one I hadn't used at that point.

Updated: I ended up abandoning the mitre hat for a black straw hat even though I wanted to use it, it looked like ass. Changed underwear to the sleeveless top so I could give him the priest's collar. Though these were relatively minor changes, I think they improve him to the point where I'm satisfied with him. Special thanks to rdmunhoz as his Vatican Exorcist inspired these changes.

The plague of the Malfested is ravaging Europe. The Pope, seeing the Malfested as direct
challenge to the power of the Church, summons Father Jacob to his chambers. "Father Jacob.
For years you have served us well in the extermination of heretics throughout the land, but
this Malfested threat seems to have no end! I am opening the vault for you. You will have
access to weapons and forbidden sorceries we have confiscated in the past. Take what you will
and use them to eradicate the source of this menace once and for all!" Father Jacob quietly
nodded to the Pope and left immediately for the vault. Other priest often looked down on his
sometimes brutal methods of enforcing God's will, but they were too soft and didn't realize
that evil must be torn out at the root and purified in heavenly fire.

Sakura

Sakura from Street Fighter is my first recreatetion and is dirt simple. With the DLC that came out today pretty much all the pieces are there to make her.

What I probably had the most trouble with was the red undershirt. I ended up flattening out a cone, burying it in her chest, and colouring it red.

I took a couple liberties with her original design. She doesn't usually wear knee high socks and she wears high top shoes. I could have used the boxing shoes to do high tops but it just didn't look right so I stuck with the sneakers. As for the socks, I just found the knee highs looked better than the ankle socks. Also she usually just has gloves, not arm pads. I could of just used the rocker gloves but the gloves she wears has padding the rocker gloves don't so I used Asuka's gloves instead.

I gave Sakura Devil Jin's move set for obvious reasons. It is kind of funny to see her shoot lasers out of her eyes and grow black wings.

Sakura has become well known street fighter in the 21st century. Recently she finds herself
easily angered, pushing away her friends and hurting her opponents much more severely than is
necessary. As she walks home from small fighting tournament she begins to wonder about these
outbursts. "Could these feelings be the corruption that Ryu told me about? The Satsui no
Hado. He said he had to fight really hard to contain it and keep his self control. I think I
better find him to see if he can help me." Continuing to think about how to control her dark
impulses, Sakura barely notices the two men who suddenly confront her in the alleyway she was
walking in. Though they both angrily demanded money from her, Sakura becomes entranced by the
strange blade that one of them carries. Its not a proper knife. It looks like someone just
found the sharp piece of metal and jammed it into a wooden hilt. Sakura hears a whisper,
almost as if the blade is speaking to her. "Hey ya dumb bimbo! If you want this knife so
bad, why don't I just give it to ya!" the mugger yelled as he lunged at her. Sakura's anger
suddenly overwhelmed her. Within seconds she left the two muggers bloodied and limping away.
Sakura reached for the strange knife when it seemed to suddenly jump and knick her finger.
After a second of wooziness Sakura came out of her trance so see everything she had known had
disappeared to be replaced by an 17th century village with the people wearing the clothes to
match. She looked around for the knife but it was nowhere to be found. Suddenly Sakura felt
sick as she sought to suppress a wave of strong violent impulses. "I don't know whats going
on, but something is making the Satsui no Hado's influence stronger. These people are looking
at me so strangely and all I want to do beat them to death. I better get out of here before
something really bad happens." With that thought Sakura ran from the village and began her
journey to find what was instigating the Satsui no Hado's power and to find a way home, all
the while fighting as the Satsui no Hado began to augment her abilities.

Scarlet

The idea for Scarlet was to make a criminal boss type of character. I used a lot of scaring
so that she would look like she's been through a lot to get where she is. Added the stogie
and some tattoos to up the toughness factor a bit. Tried to choose a face that was mature but
not unattractive. I originally planned a more reddish outfit but the Jun pants seem to only
go as far as that pinkish/purplish red. I considered changing the pants but liked them too
much so I changed the top to fit. I had no particular reason for choosing Ivy's weapon for
her but it seems to work well.

For years Scarlet has been working her way to the top of the criminal Underworld.
Starting off as a lowly pickpocket, through a combination of cunning and force, she now heads The
Spider Silk, a group of criminals that have struck fear into much of the world. She's seen
wars come and go and always found a way to make a profit. This current conflict is different.
The supernatural energies wielded in this war make the risk far higher, but also the rewards
much greater. The soul swords. If she can best their wielders and take control of their
energies herself, the limitless power granted would propel Scarlet from Queen of the
Underworld to Empress of All Creation.

Xao Xi

Here I was just looking to create a Chinese swordsman. Used Leixia's style but still miss the
Yun Seong style for acrobatic sword fighting. I added the white circle with the kanji later
to liven up the design a bit. I wasn't really liking how any of the patterns looked on that
outfit. At first I tried to add dragons to the pants but something about them made pieces of
the pattern disappear. I could've changed pants, but preferred them to the others so I
abandoned the idea of putting stickers on them.

Xao Xi has trained for years with the best masters his clan's money could buy.
Despite being a great swordsman his family have sheltered him from battle as he is the succeed the clan leader upon his death. Bored with politics and wishing to use what he has learned, Xao Xi
has run away from his home to find worthy opponents for his sword before he is condemned to a
life of drudgery.

Hikari

Originally I was planning to make an armoured up samurai but started playing around with Haori
and decided to go with that. Not too much to say about the design as its pretty basic. I just started putting things together that seemed to work.

Hikari is a very frustrated woman right now. Having petitioned many lords to take her on as
samurai, all have refused. She believes the fact that she is a woman is the reason for the refusals but the truth is her reputation for drunken, violent are what have frightened the lords away from taking her on. Angry and drunk, Hikari has decided to throw herself into any and all battles to prove once and for all that she is a superior warrior to all the nobles that had previously denied her.

Auriel

I wanted to see if I could do something with the Bridal Dress and decided to make an angel. I tried to add some armour but too much conflicts with the dress. Anyone else get frustrated with how much stuff tends conflicts with DLC items? I originally had some wing tattoos on the back for when the armour breaks but decided to remove them to retain a clean feel to the design.

In the heavens it has been declared that the ongoing conflict between Soul Edge and Soul
Calibur is no longer tolerable. The existence of the sentient swords is to be immediately sanctioned. Auriel has been dispatched to carry out heaven's will. All who stand in her way, stand against heaven itself and shall be considered enemies of God to be expelled from life as is appropriate.

Vandergeist

I originally intended to make another large skeleton with the dark warrior armour and Nightmare's move set but when I realized I could give him a mohawk with the ancient armour plume decide to make hoodlum skeleton instead. The tongue was a happy accident. I was actually trying to make a pair of fangs.

In his life Tomas Vandergeist was always a trouble maker. From mugging to inciting street brawls, the authorities were always locking up this nuisance to society. Unfortunately for society, Tomas was the son of one of the city's wealthiest families, meaning he never got more than an overnight visit to the jail before being back on the streets causing problems. One day, Tomas and his gang accosted a strange looking woman carrying some kind of giant hoop for what looked like a fat purse of gold. Instead of meekly handing the it over, she threw the pouch at them. The pouch exploded mid-flight covering the gang with the fine dust that was contained within. Screams could be heard blocks away as the dust began to eat through the
flesh of Tomas and his comrades. By the end of it, where there was once a gang of local hoodlums now stood the undead. Tomas looked at his and his friends new forms and laughed maniacally. The transformation further twisting his mind to realms of depravity he had previously never considered, he had completely forgotten the woman who had did this to him and led his gang out of the dark alleyways to fulfill their craving for mayhem.

Huian Lien

I wanted to do something with miniskirt underwear but didn't like how it was turning out so I went to the Chinese Dress. I didn't do too much with it as I didn't have a particular concept in mind but still liked the result so I kept it.

------EDIT-----

I added some fans to make the design a little more interesting and changed the underwear pattern since it looked a little cheesy when it has the same pattern as the dress.

Observing Huian serving at her father's tea house, it would be easy to mistake her as a shy, meek woman. The truth however is that her family have a long tradition of service to the empire as assassins, a role Huian truly excels at. Now she travels west, having received orders to investigate the threat the malfested pose to China and eliminate it at the source.

Rhavaniel

Looking at HolyCarp's collection of elves inspired me to do a couple of my own. Rhavaniel is a wild elf so I gave her some tattoos to to increase the wild feel to her. I used the ethnic texture on the greaves to try and make it look more like wood or some other organic material instead of metal.

Rhavaniel is part of a tribe of wild forest elves. She is an expert hunter and one of the most skilled warriors the elves have. For centuries her people have been in decline as man continues to encroach on the hidden forests of her people, but now a new threat has appeared. The touch of the Malfested has reached her people, leaving many sick and mad. The elven king has dispatched his son to find a cure and has ordered Rhavaniel to act as his bodyguard during the journey into human lands. While Rhavaniel is not happy with having to babysit the spoiled Prince, for there is no love lost between the wild tribes and the elven high court that subjugated them so many centuries ago, she swallows her pride and accepts the command for the sake of the people dying from the Malfested curse.

rhavaniel3.png

rhavaniel4.png

Elandar

In contrast to Rhavaniel, Elandar is a prince of the elven court so I kept him clean of tattoos. I didn't go overboard with armour since I still wanted him to have a bit of an outdoorsy feel to him. Used the zipper on the undershirt for texture as it looked a little bland and I didn't like how the patterns were working out.

No one knows how the Malfested disease had reached the elven forests, and to Prince Elandar it didn't matter. Though skilled in swordplay he is a master apothecary and has spent the last few months away from court, with the people, trying to find a cure. AS nothing seems to ease the suffering of the people, whether it be potions or old elven enchantments, Elandar realizes he must seek out the source and bring back a sample before he can find a cure. Though the king is loathe to allow his first born to travel the dangerous human lands, her realizes that it is the best hope his people have of being free of the Malfested curse. Giving Prince Elandar his blessing, he assigns two guardians on his quest, the ancient ancestral spirit that has always served the elven court and Rhavaniel, the strongest warrior among the elves. The Prince is somewhat wary of Rhavaniel as she seems to harbour the same resentment for the more civilized elves that runs deep through the wild tribes. Elandar buries the feelings of mistrust for the chances of his quest succeeding are greatly increased with her at his side and the well being of the elven people must take precidence over any old petty grudges between classes.

Dick Sierlo

I was just messing around with the school costumes late one night and decided to make a corporate douchebag type. I originally intended to delete him as I was just messing around and didn't really do too much with the design but he has this really smug corporate jackass look about him that appealed to me for some reason so he got a stay of execution.

A wealthy and skilled businessman, Dick Sierlo is CEO of a top weapons manufacturing firm in the U.S. Upon getting reports of problems with the Quantum Gate, a project designed for rapid troop deployment, Dick decides to visit the site himself and demand an explanation. Upon the arrival at the site he is greeted to by the lead scientist who claims to have made a significant breakthrough which they will be testing soon. Hopeful that he won't have to explain to investors wasted money on a fantasy project, Dick demands the tests take place immediately. Despite their misgivings that safety checks need to made, the scientists have no choice but to begin the test. As the machinery rumbles to life, 2 large silver disks of energy appear at opposite ends of the testing room. One of the scientist throws a rubber ball into one of the disks, but instead of traveling through to the second disk it is suspended in the first disk's energy for a second before a flash of light envelops the room including Dick and the scientists behind the safety glass.

When Dick's eyes clear all before him is chaos. What appear to be medieval knights are fighting with monsters and before he can even get his bearings, Dick is sprayed with blood of the lead scientist as one of the monsters cuts him down. Angered at blood being sprayed on his four thousand dollar suit, Dick releases the catch on his cane and draws the hidden blade within. With a single precise strike born of years of training with the sword, he delivers a quick and lethal strike to the monster's heart. Sword flashing, Dick carves a path through the chaos, leading the surviving scientists out of the battle. Recognizing the armour of the knights, Dick realizes that he and the scientists have been transported to medieval Europe. Though the histories he studied make no mention of battles with monsters, Dick remains unfazed. His mind whirling, Dick thinks of the possibilities. A war with monsters is going on and he has a group of the best weapons scientist in the world. With their knowledge and his business acumen, its going to be easy to take this world for himself.

Even if this board is a big quiet, I think you deserve a big thumbs up for all this.

A lot of your CAS strike a chord because it shows you have a creative mind.
While there is room for improvement in some areas (both artistically and technically), most of your CAS ooze style and catch the eye, i really loled at that freaky skeleton with the tongue for instance...
Your use of tattoos (and i love tattoos) is on the right path...
Your designs are simple, yet not simplistic, and colors don't hurt me in any way.

Keep it up...

These elves are probably my favourite characters of what I've seen here so far, so I'm really happy to have inspired them. It's cool to see someone else's interpretation of the female hunter and the young prince.
Some really nice touches like the zipper sticker on Elandar. Nice work.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I know some of my designs can be hit or miss. I think I'll have to come here more often to rip off some ideas.

I'm glad you liked them. You have a lot of cool character's posted yourself and not just your elves either.

You have some really strong designs and with just a bit more practice and experimentation I think you could be top class
I was rather taken with Nasir al Din
Keep up the good work!

Haha I like that punk skeleton, perfect!
I too liked Nasir al Din and Helena Cross as well.

You have some really great ideas like Unger's stone clubs (genius!) and Thamuz's glowy skin. I'm pretty sure you won't mind me stealing them ;)

By all means steal away. Its not like I haven't borrowed an idea or two from others on this board. ;)

Armored Auriel

I tried to do something with the bridal dress to make the design more interesting but didn't like the results. I abandoned the dress and went for an armoured look. I wanted to do something with the skirt but it doesn't allow stickers and putting patterns on it gives it a red tinge which clashes with the white and gold theme.

Lumiere

With Lumiere I was actually trying to remake one of my characters from SC4. Unfortunately about the only part of her carried over to 5 was the helmet. Since the helmet has a butterfly theme I decided to try my hand at making a fairy character. Though the helmet was my starting point, I may change it in the future as its pretty dark for the light pastel theme but any attempts to lighten it just replaces the dark pink with a grey that is also too dark for the theme.

Lumiere is a young scout in the fey army. Having finished her training recently she has been given her first assignment. Go to the human world and seek out any sources of mana that can be harvested for the fairyfolk. Lumiere was quite nervous having heard rumours of war breaking out amongst the humans with strong supernatural forces attempting to influence the outcome. Seeing her unease her commander reassured her "There's nothing to worry about Lumiere. Our oracles have detected strong magic coming from the human world once more. Just find us a couple of good sources and head home. If you run into any humans looking for trouble, you should have no trouble besting them with the training you received. Now get going, there's no time for dawdling." Far from confident, Lumiere thanked her commander and left for the portal to the human world regardless. As she stepped through, she couldn't shake the feeling that this mission wouldn't be as simple or safe as her commanding officers believe it to be.

Ruk'Taag

I guess with making elves and fairies, I wanted to go to the other side fantasy creatures with a goblin. Though its not too noticeable, I dropped all the body parts to -20 except for the thighs and forearms to try and give him a bit of a deformation. I put splotches on the sword and armour to give it a rusty look. I also added splotched to the fur to give it a filthy appearance.

As long as there have been goblins they have hid themselves away in caves and mountains. Cowardly by nature they only come out to prey on lightly guarded settlements for food and treasure. Ruk'Taag is uncommonly brave and ambitious (by goblin standards). Unsatisfied taking orders from their King who was old and weak, Ruk'Taag challenged him for the throne. Unfortunately for Ruk'Taag, the King to where he was through the liberal use of dirty tricks. Once the challenge was made, the King immediately declared a new law that the King may appoint a champion to defend the crown. The King then summoned Tog, the biggest, toughest (and dumbest) goblin of the clan, who also harboured a deep hatred for Ruk'Taag for no apparent reason whatsoever. Ruk'Taag was thoroughly thrashed and did what every goblin does when in mortal peril, fled for his life. Bruised, beaten and despondent, Ruk'Taag left his underground home for the foul open air of the outside. Travelling only at night, Ruk'Taag hid his appearance from the humans with a cloak stolen from a hapless victim walking the road alone at night. While looking for another human to rob for food he came upon a troop of mercenaries. Lurking in the bush to see if he could steal anything from their camp, Ruk'Taag overheard mention of great wealth and power granted to those in the employ of a Graf Dumas. Ruk'Taag didn't know what a Graf Dumas was but wealth and power intrigued him enough to follow the mercenaries and take a chance of getting himself some of that wealth and power. Once the mercenaries arrived at the castle, Ruk'Taag waited for nightfall before scrambling over the wall to search for this Graf Dumas. Ducking through dark passages to dodge humans, Ruk'Taag headed for centre of the castle. Climbing to an open window he randomly stalked the halls evading anyone who would discover him. Eventually Ruk'Taag reached the throne room where sat an impressive looking human with large covered sword surrounded by other fawning humans looking to curry favour. Instantly detecting the goblin, everyone turned to stare at him. The fawning humans now had a terrified look about them, but their lord just coolly dismissed them for the night. "Now what would you be?" the man said as the last court member left the room. "Come. Stand before me." His voice was quiet but forceful. Typically Ruk'Taag would have chafed at such orders but the sword at the man's side some how both excited him and put him at ease. Standing before Dumas, Ruk'Taag suddenly let out a gasp of pain. He didn't even see the human unwrap the sword and stab him in the gut, it was like the blade just magically appeared there. Collapsing from the pain the human kneeled beside him "I will grant you some of my power Ruk'Taag. With it you will return to your home and take your rightful place as king of your people. Then leave with your horde and pillage the country side. Do this and I shall be greatly pleased." Though Ruk'Taag clearly heard the words, the human's lips did not move. It almost felt like the sword itself had spoken to him. Finally falling unconscious, Ruk'Taag awoke on the trail back to his mountain home a strange rusty weapon at his side. As her grasped it he felt a surge of power awaken within him. He would do as asked, for it is all Ruk'Taag wanted in life. Ruk'Taag started along the trail home with comforting thoughts of blood and debauchery in his future.

Vargas

I didn't really have a plan with Vargas. I was just messing around with the spy robe and as I started putting pieces together I decided to try and make a swashbuckler type. I originally had a lion tattoo on his chest but decided to use chest hair instead. I tried to move the lion tattoo elsewhere but it seemed to deform to much on the arm and other places on the chest so I abandoned it.

For years Vargas has traveled the world in search of treasure, women, and adventure. Having played both the hero and villain in service of these pursuits, Vargas has become a wanted man in most ports. Marking the bounties on his head a badge of honour, Vargas has continued to seek out his passions. However, with the emergence of the Malfested in the world, things have gotten a lot more dangerous than before. Deciding that today he would play the hero, Vargas sets off on another adventure, this time to save the world from the Malfested menace and cement his name in history forever as a legend.

Balgyar

Here I looking to do something with the dark warrior armour. I was originally going to use Yoshimitsu's style with the machete but the weapon seemed too small and the moves didn't really fit so I changed to Astaroth's style. I was going to use the dark warrior helm with serial killer mask but tried the terror mask and had the idea of adding a bunch of horns to it. The bone parts were originally a dull off white but since you can't really mess too much with the terror mask I added the speckle pattern to everything to try and match everything up with the mask.

Taken from his family at an early age, Balgyar has no memories of that previous life. Trained in the pits of the undercity to fight for the entertainment of the wealthy, violence and blood have become his reason to exist.

One day Balgyar awakens to loud rumblings and sees nothing but chaos outside his cell. Balgyar barely took notice of the other fighters battling the guards for freedom, for his attention was rapt on the door to his cell that now lie amongst other ruins in the underground complex. Springing to action Balgyar runs off towards the armoury, casually swatting away any who were in his way. Breaking down the door he finds what he desires, his armour and axe. Marking this event as significant, Balgyar reverently dons his armour and takes up his weapon. As he emerges from the armoury there are screams of terror from both fighters and guards alike. And with that he sets to his bloody work, his axe hewing limb from body, cleaving skulls in two. After a short while all that stands before Balgyar is another door. Opening it he squints, blinded by the sun that has not touched his skin since he was taken all those many years ago. His eyes coming into focus, Balgyar is treated to a magnificent sight, hundreds of warriors fighting while hundreds more lay maimed or dead on the ground. A cry of terrible joy erupting from his lips, Balgyar runs into the fray to indulge in the gory things that have become as important to him as drawing breath.

Ephyra

Once again I was experimenting with the spy robe with no solid plan. Trying to think of a colour scheme that I hadn't used yet, I went with an aqua colour. Once I decided on the colour I decided to go with the idea of an Atlantean hybrid type of character. Since she's meant to be a hybrid I didn't go too full with it. Used the snake horn as a belt to cover up the actual belt clipping through the clothes. I was fairly satisfied until I saw rdmunhoz's Atlanteans so consider this one a work in progress as I liberally rip off his ideas take inspiration from his work. ps. rdmunhoz I'm also ripping off your vatican exorcist to enhance my sad sack priest ;)

Edit: The new version of Ephyra now has scales on the clothing and a fin collar. Using the bat wings as a collar was challenging as they are difficult to get the right angle for what you want. I had to balance effective looks versus clipping in general gameplay with it. I also changes the underwear to Seung Mina's bikini since the bottoms are high enough to look like part of the overall outfit.

Ephyra had been raised in a small coastal fishing village by her parents. As she grew to maturity she began to notice how different she was from the other villagers. Neither of her parents shared the green colour of her hair, her friends didn't share the growing sense of unease Ephyra felt when they took trips inland, and most striking was the fact that she could seem breath water as easy as air. Finally confronting her parents they admitted that she was not their child but had been found one day on the beach with no one in sight. While Ephyra sat in shocked silence her father brought out the strange, ornamental chest that had always sat in the corner of the house. Taking out a key from his pocket, he opened the pad lock holding the chain that bound the chest closed. From the chest he brought forth clothes and two sword. He said the chest was near where they found Ephyra as a baby and now that she was grown and knows the truth that the items inside were rightfully hers. Touching the clothes and the swords, Ephyra felt an immediate recognition. Taking them to her room she put on the clothing and took the swords in her hand. Taking a couple of swings with the weapons, Ephyra was surprised to find that she instinctively knew how to use them. As she left her room she walked for the door to the house, kissing the man and woman who had loved and raised her goodbye. Ephyra didn't know if she would ever return to the place she called home, but as she headed for the trail to the nearby port town, she knew that she had to find out who she was and where she came from.
