I love threads like this because I hate half the cast. If SC's gameplay wasn't as good as it is, I'd probably hate this series. I'll hate on some from a purely gameplay standpoint. The ones I don't mark with (gameplay) I hate for either aesthetics, backstory, or a combination of the two plus gameplay.
In no particular order:
- All SCIV bonus characters: reasons are obvious. Bad character designs for bad, glitchy clones.
- Not going to bother hating on Star Wars guests. Everyone knows what's wrong with them (mostly Yoda and Apprentice).
- Seong-Mina: annoying, vapid whore. No personality or skills, weak fighting style has been overshadowed since Kilik was introduced.
- Taki: no personality. Pink latex suit. Gimmicky fighting style.
- Natsu: Like Taki, but tries way too hard to have a personality. You can be subtle without being bland, Project Soul. Hire some writers.
- Mitsurugi: scrub character with no personality. Weeaboos flock to characters like this, which makes him even worse.
- Setsuka: exact opposite of a scrub character but still has no personality and her tits are completely, unnecessarily large.
- Talim: annoying, bland, and campy. Boring character to play and to fight against.
- Rock (Gameplay): Badstaroth.
- Cassandra: was never as interesting as Sophitia. Basically serves the role of fanservice and nothing else. Belongs in FFX-2.
- Ivy (gameplay): I like her as a character (she's one of the few that undergoes actual development throughout the series). Her aesthetic design leaves a lot to be desired, though (creative process is basically thinking up ways of giving her even larger tits with less to cover them while maintaining a Teen rating.)
- Voldo (gameplay): Pure autopilot. Does way too much damage for his mixup potential. He also doesn't need the soul gauge damage he had in SCIV, considering the strength of his BT mixups, his unblockables, and his throws. Way too solid of a character (at least in SCIV) in my opinion. He's also a complete counterpick to me so that gets rather annoying.
- Xianghua: It's like they tried to make a legitimate character in her backstory, but in her gameplay, she's an obnoxious anime stereotype. Same goes for Leixia, judging by what I've seen of her.
- Yun-seong: Don't care for him as a character, as a fighting style, or as an aesthetic design.
- Tira: Bad anime stereotype. Like Mitsurugi, this character tends to attract the worst kind of weeaboos: the kind that can't tell when a character is badly designed. Also, her voice (especially in Jolly Stance) is among the most obnoxious in the entire cast. Also, who fights with a hula hoop? Stupid.
- Last and worst, ZWEI: Every horrible anime stereotype that pisses me off is in this character. He's a cocky, angsty, emo/Goth pansy piece of trash with one of the worst character designs I've ever seen. Let's start with his 1P outfit, shall we?
Firstly, that's not how you hold a sword, dumbass. The hilt exists for a reason.
Second, put your hand down. That pose isn't nearly as cool as the PS artists think it is.
Third, really? Tight, leather pants, a jacket that doesn't provide protection from anything and doesn't even look good aesthetically (random chains ≠ cool). Combine that outfit with a generic purple and black color scheme and you've got one giant, horribly designed animushit character.
Oh, and fourthly, not only is this the kind of character that would be designed by a weeaboo, it's the kind of character that gets designed by a
wolfaboo. Wolves are shitty animals and it only serves to make this character look even worse.
As for his 2P:
Firstly, what the fuck.
Secondly, what the fuck.
Thirdly, popped collar, turtleneck, and a shirt that appears to be multiple rows of horizontal vaginas. Again, what the fuck.
Unless this ridiculous excuse for a character has some
really good writing in the story mode, he'll have virtually no redeeming qualities. Not only that, but he's taking a slot in the roster that could be home to a legitimate longsword user that holds the sword properly and doesn't summon a magic wolf to punch people.
So that's it. Aside from the bonus characters, the two biggest offenders are ZWEI and Talim. ZWEI for the reasons outlined above (generic anime wannabe badass piece of shit goddamn fuck piss) and Talim because she's a boring character and I'm sick of all the pedophiles whining about her not being in the game instead of facing the fact that nobody normal liked or played that fucking character.
