After giving this new Devil may cry a chance I must say... this DMC feels like it is going to the DMC 2 route. Everything about it is sloppy and it doesnt help the fact that the battle system just doesnt feel fun? Maybe im judging too hard but the experience I had was terrible to the point I couldn't even finish the demo. I should go into detail but ill say this in short:

"This is not a DMC cry game as it tries to be DMC but not truly BEING DMC"

That is all. However, this is my opinion and you might enjoy it. Give it a shot maybe you will like it but as i played all 4 games i didnt like this new adaption at all.

Hmm, does anyone know why the series got a reboot it was pretty cool the way it was, the overall negative reception should let them have a idea that if the game didn't had the best game play so far it would be a big fail.
Anyway, do you think it is for DMC this game is like FF XIII to FF?

After playing the demo(highest available difficulties of course), my opinion also remains the same as before playing it: it's perfectly mediocre. Not bad, not great. It's genuinely fun. The grappling mechanics are excellent, I think, a good improvement over the ones present with Nero in DMC4 and they allow you to keep the pace of combat much higher more consistently(a good thing). The angel/demon weapons seems gimmicky at first, but it really feels like they thought its implementation out well with enemies that are only vulnerable to angel/demon/vanilla weapons forcing you to react and think carefully about both where you and your foes are.

My only complaints are the lack of being able to toggle & cycle the lock-on function and learning of the permanent SSS rank for missions upon 100% completion for missions. Both functions annoy me, but the lock-on mechanic isn't exactly vital and I can understand how the permanent SSS rank would be convenient for a lot of people(even if they are subhuman sheeple that should be severely punished for their terrible tastes that are so clearly inferior to mine).

I do feel obligated to nitpick one thing about the new Dante though: his jacket clearly sports a union jack yet he still sounds American. What's that all about?

With the Demo out i messed around with it and i think it's fine. Definitely wasn't DMC 2 bad, looking at you creator, but not anywhere near 3 fame. It's a little more straight forward and with the demo, no mechanics that felt hard. The game itself wasn't hard, on said difficulties, but who knows.
The actual fighting was fun though, more fun than i thought it'd be, and so i still intend on getting the game.

I am a DMC fan and always have been, and from the very beginning i've had no issue with this game. The new look doesn't matter, new team doesn't matter, none of this matters but the game itself. And so far it's kinda good so can't wait for the whole thing.

my thoughts exactly!.

i loved the combat, took me a while to figure it out and get used to it. it seems more fluid this time around being able to change weapons during combos instead of using the pad to change whole styles like in 3&4. haven't gotten parrying down yet, but it seems like it could be cool. evading is a little weird for me though, since my main evade has just been to jump in previous DMCs.

kinda hope vergil will be a playable character like in 3, seems kinda cool.

With throwing an hour or so into the demo, I can definitely say its worth the buy. The action, battle system, and aesthetics feel like Devil May Cry, and despite the new modern-day revolution setting, I can honestly say its another DMC installment.

I'm a little saddened by the removal of a taunt, which means no drop kick (which was useless anyway, just looked awesome), but gameplay-wise, I'm impressed.

The down side is that what everyone thought from the very beginning is 100% true: Dante is ruined. It's not just his new "2edgy4u" generic look, it's not even the fact that he thinks swearing after every other word is cool, it's not even that most of his lines are delivered poorly, it's just... well, he's a faggot.

I mean seriously, he's a faggot. There's no other way to describe him.

Hopefully that changes before the release.

Anyway, I believe it's going to be a great game based on the demo.

Honestly, the only things I think need changed are some names and the game's title.

If this game hadn't labeled itself as Devil May Cry, and they had named the characters differently, it wouldn't get the hate it does. Hell, most people would buy this game under the impression that Capcom was trying out something for DMC5.

That said, this game does look fun, and I plan on picking up the demo next week.

WARNING GIANT WALL OF TEXT, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A GOOD ATTENTION SPAN, I DONT RECOMMEND READING THIS.
Ok let just say this
I hate everything about this game and hated in the beginning
Ever since I saw the very first trailer and saw the new developers was Ninja Theory, I knew this whole thing was going to be a trainwreck.
You can go "LOL FANBOY"all the hell you want, but that just shows how ignorant you can be to me and I wont even bother with you because I could be the biggest fanboy here and it still wouldn't change how bad this steaming pile of dog shit is.
First off the "New" Dante. The only people that like this guy are either
A.Were never fans of the original DMC games and didn't play them and aren't aware of the true Dante
B.12 year old children
C.people just looking for a reason to troll
This guy is just a walking insult, the design looks bad, and not just because of how he looks nothing like the original. Nononono thats not the biggest problem with him by a LOOOOOOONG shot. This "Dante"......you know what he doesn't deserve that name.... How about Tameem?

Or how about we call him Frank Sinatra?

he also looks like a goddamn hobo, more dirt on him than pigpen I tell you.
Give him a goddamn sign that says "spare change plz" and you've got a hobo.
Not to mention their reply to the fans when we tried to tell them this Dan- errr I mean Tameem or errrr Frank Sinatra looked like shit. This was their reply

http://scrawlfx.com/2010/09/ninja-theory-old-dante-isnt-cool-anymore

“It’s about Dante being cool and making you feel cool when you’re playing it, and so the combat and the style system and everything is integral to that,” Antoniades told 1UP. “But, you know, what was cool 12 years ago — I think that was when the first game came out [Editor's Note: he's a bit off, as the first title came out in 2001] — isn’t cool anymore."
u22pw.png

well. Fuck you too Ninja theory. Lol as if they knew what being cool meant.
This was my initial reaction to all of this
mugatuvergil.jpg

And as if that wasn't enough they certainly like to contradict themselves
2 quotes from them
"In recent interviews with Ninja Theory lead developer Tameem Antoniades and Capcom USA's Alex Jones, it has been stated that the game currently in development would be a 'reboot' or 'retelling' of Dante's original story, implying that this would be settled in a new universe/series, and has no influence on the main Devil May Cry series."

"In another recent interview, Capcom revealed that they knew Dante's new look would be met with negative backlash and that they pressed forward with this in mind; they also explained that DmC is not a "reboot" as it was believed to be, but an origin story taking place before the events of Devil May Cry 3 and that the new Dante is, in fact, the Dante of the original series at a younger age who is just beginning to accept his demonic nature."
And now once again they are calling this a reboot
They don't know what they want this game to be.

The story? Well lets see

Detailing Dante’s early years and set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC Devil May Cry will retain the stylish action, fluid combat and selfassured protagonist that have defined the series but inject a more brutal and visceral edge. The Dante of DmC is a young man discovering and coming to terms with what it means to be the child of a demon and an angel. This split personality has a major impact on gameplay with Dante being able to call upon angel and demon abilities at will, transforming his Rebellion sword on the fl y to dramatically affect both combat and movement. Check out the game features and Gamescom trailer below.
Yes because Dante was half angel, and he totally had Teen angst.
Lets..... Just stop there with story. I can go on further but this is just giving me a hell of a migrane

Now more on Ninja theory when trying to reply to their fans
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-17-dmc-sceptics-secretly-want-to-like-it
Oh gooody "Yeah the people who say our game is looking like shit really must think its good!" slap them, hard. Please
But you know whats funny? Lets go back to the first article i posted
http://scrawlfx.com/2010/09/ninja-theory-old-dante-isnt-cool-anymore

Oh gee ok, so you think your Dante is better than the old one. And now you say you don't want the original fans here?
vlcsnap2011091508h56m57.png

i find that hard to believe, you think slapping white hair on your piece of shit design will fix this piece of shit? lolnope. This happens in this dan-err frank sinat-err Tameem's devil trigger, the only thing that could've redeemed this character, the last piece of potential, but they threw that away while contradicting themselves again. They aren't sure of what they want and they sure as hell like slapping their fans in the face as well.

Ok so they are on thin ice with this. What do they do to try to save their asses, trying to make this game look better but ends up making it look even worse?

http://www.siliconera.com/2011/10/3...e-in-a-parallel-world-with-a-different-dante/

OH GOODY, SO NOW ITS A PARALLEL UNIVERSE, THAT MAKES EVERYTHING ALL FINE AND DANDY RIGHT? god, first its a reboot, then its a prequel, then a reboot again, NOW ITS A PARALLEL FUCKING UNIVERSE? MAKE UP YOUR GODDAMN MIND.

God this shit is giving me a migrane
Now gameplay. The demo is out and people are saying that the gameplay is the only thing that could redeem this pile of shit. People are saying its really great. I played the demo today.
Now before i state my thoughts on the gameplay let me just say this: I have absolutely no faith in Ninja theory after their previous titles.
This was from their last game heavenly sword, showing us their godly movement:
oh4uxf.jpg

these people can't even do controls right. And these guys are making the new DMC. Oh goody.

The game feels like a downgraded DMC4. From the combat being slower, to the FPS (30 FPS for a hack and slash game that is supposed to be fast, goody). To the music being absolute shit(its either something awful from combichrist or some shitty dubstep.)
To lastly these absurd glitches.

People are still finding more glitches too. Just look them up on youtube, you'll find bugs out the ass, and there are multiple uploads of these as well, you know what this means? These glitches are commonly happening to almost everyone
Sonic 06: DMC Edition. Get hype bro
And this is the biggest one that gets me the most
These people can't even do a boss battle correctly. This is something that shouldn't even exist in the demo. Theres no excuse for this to be here
"OH BUT ITS JUST A DEMO, THEY WILL FIX THESE, THEY WILL LISTEN TO US"
Lolno, because they totally listened to us back then, this brings us back to what I initially posted near the beginning, go back and read them again. These guys didn't listen to us back then, they slapped us and said "FUCK THE FANS" if they didn't fucking listen to us before, what makes you think they will listen to us now? That capcom's recent games have had absurd bugs in the demos and none of them end up getting fixed in the final product *coughRE6cough*

So yeah everything about this is shit. Now you can all be ignorant and either go "LOL FANBOY" or "STFU U MAIN DEE JAY" and not read any of this and i will simply place you under ignore since you just disregarded all of this, or you can actually read this and pay attention to this. Thats my 2 cents about this steaming pile of shit. Fuck off ninja theory and capcom, and I will NOT buy this piece of shit and I hope this dies.

Yep, if you have to say it's not, it probably is. I mean, I'm not stopping you. Just, damn...I can't think of anything that'd make me bitch that much. Just...damn...

Gee a guy that didn't read any of that and made a pointless comment, what a big fucking surprise
You sounded like Idle, but it is true what you did put there, they are just trying to put somemake up under the game story because was so bad and well, the gameplay I don't have quite sure what to think.

And don't get me wrong, I haven't liked the DMC series for some time and you're probably right about...whatever you're crying about. Just...damn...

I like to think of this game like the movie 'I, Robot'.

It's a fun, mindless sort of thing, but why did they call it that? It's nothing like the book.

Well, y'know, swapping the 'book' for 'game'.

Also, I read it all, Donutman, and frankly, I think you have stones for immediately calling those of us who are actually waiting for this game ignorant. You really don't think that WE KNOW ALL OF THE SHIT THIS GAME HAS GONE THROUGH?!

By the way, nice going, using a first-year title as a basis for comparison, and claiming it to be their last game (Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, released 2010). Check your facts again, bro.

Now I will admit to not having played the demo, seeing as I'm not on PS+, but I will try the demo next week and see if it is truly the shit-stain you and many others claim it is. Until then, don't insult me.
