Here's a little questionnaire I'd like you DW fans to fill out:

Which DW game had the most variety in character selection?:
Dynasty Warriors 5

Which DW game had the best OST?: Dynasty Warriors 5 or 7
Example (Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends OST: Change the World):

Example 2 (Dynasty Warriors 7 OST: The Last Battle):

Which DW game had the best story?: Dynasty Warriors 5

So, in conclusion for me, I think DW 5 was the best game in the series.

I agree: 5 was the top of the series, then they feel six feet under with 6... Inexistant gameplay and story, disgusting characters... 7 is really good, but we don't get the XL yet... *sigh* I can't wait to play Warriors Orochi 3!

5 was THE BEAST BEST.
6 was a TOTAL FAIL - clones everywhere, story mode waay too easy.
7 was a lot better than 6, more weapons and characters, and a LOT better story mode.

To be honest, I never liked the Orochi series. I have never wanted to try it. It seems like a cheap rip-off of DW.

What I like about 7 is that you could switch weapons! Somethin I liked weapons but hated the character... Now I can get my favorite to wield classy stuff! They don't have they EX but... DON'T CARE, ME KILLZ PEEPL!

Give it a try, it's fun :)

I know people say that DW is repetitive, but I would LOVE a DW5 remake for PS3 with the same costumes, same weapons, same everything except better up to date graphics. I would buy it and keep it FOREVER! <3

So do I! And DW3 too, because I spent countless hours on that game!

I really don't see the logic in that.

Same costumes, same weapons, same everything except better up to date graphics.

Sounds like how people are with SC2. lol

But nonetheless.....
DW1-Personal favorite because it was a fighting game, and I love that genre.
DW2-Never got to play the game.
DW3-Same as DW3. I did get a chance to play Xtreme Legends and I thought it was pretty good.
DW4-Probably the best of the series, in my opinion. The whole atmosphere was dark and aggressive, and it had plenty of longevity. Plus the soundtrack was brilliant.
DW5-Graphically an improvement from DW5. Individual story mode was a good idea, but it was a little repetitive.
DW6-Not the best, but I can tell that KOEI was wanting to experiment, which isn't a bad thing, but it was left with bad conditions, like the removal of characters.
DW7-An improvement of DW6 while going back to the old system, visually brilliant, and with the addition of late-Wei/Jin, it introduces players to a new chapter of the game.

It's a not a rip-off, it's a crossover. :P

If you like Dynasty Warriors 5, then you should LOVE Warriors Orochi one and two. (3 is going to have the DW7 mechanics/movesets, which, while good, I still think DW5-Prior was better. More... individualized.)

As far as OST's go, Dynasty Warriors 5 takes the cake for me

I love DW7. I'm mad that XL is a PS3 exclusive. Having Taishi Ci/Xu Zhu use the claws is so funny to watch. The story mode was still the same old song and dance but the presentation of it was epic.

I used to play the original Dynasty Warriors and DW5. I actually kind-of liked the original but I'm definitely not a fan of the hack and slash ones.

What about all the spin-offs? There's a shit ton you could be counting or adding here, you could even put DW Online here.

As for favourite of series probably 5XL, never played 5. First one just reminded me of Soul Blade, third seemed fun, 4th was good minus the tracking. 6 was something different, I liked the movesets just not the lack of them, design went a little wonky, music was nice. Strikeforce was just DBZ version, with triple air dashing and huge bosses, but had 4 player co-op online.
7 is great. Just lack of textures is what makes it feel slightly repetitive. Overall the game feels smooth animation is good, story telling is a lot better along with character VA's minus Guan Yu (no Crispin Freeman). DLC there is a lot of, good variety in it too. Only thing is the amount of grinding to be done is a pain in the ass.

Should be a music thread for this game, and by the time the 9th game lol rolls around. The movesets will be amazing. The total amount of movesets in 7XL counting DLC is 47 already so de-cloning shouldn't be an issue soon
