International Video Game Cup 2014

Palais des Festivals et des congrès de Cannes – February 28th to March 2nd 2014

The Event

The Palais des Festivals et des congrès de Cannes is a place famous for a lot of reasons: movies, television, music, board games, but for a lot of us it’s just the place where we get to spend a few days with those friends we only get to see there. A place we’re all happy to come back to because we get to play with the best video game players on the planet under the sun of the croisette.

The WorldGameCup filled a void when it was created in 2004, year after year it created a tradition that got players from the world over to gather around the same passion.

The International Video Game Cup (IVGC) wants to continue to feed that beautiful idea, an event where the champions get to see who’s the best and their fans can enjoy the show at the venue or from the comfort of their own homes.

The Official Games of the International Video Game Cup

This first CVGC will be split in two areas:

- The FGC Arena where old time fans will get to enjoy some of the best fighting games of this generation:

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v.2012 - singles & 3v3

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - singles & 3v3

The King Of Fighters XIII - singles & 2v2

SoulCalibur V - singles & 3v3

Each game will have a dedicated steward to help “top players” to come, in coordination with our sponsors and partners.

The final phases of each tourney will be live streamed!

- And the Sports Arena that will show that MT Events knows how to spoil football lovers:

FIFA 14 – Single & 2v2

(Repost)Hi!

Might be a possibility to send a US/Canadian team this year. We're looking at our options to make it up there with a couple of players (and one non player/groupie) for the event. Looking for for the cheapest ways to travel to France as well as the best housing options!

Thanks!

I heard airplanes are quite popular nowadays to travel across the ocean to France. The closest airport is Nice as you probably know by now, tickets around 780 USD for the moment YTO to NCE via british airways. Not going to get any cheaper normally. Housing is 15 bucks per person per night approximately. Food in europe is similar to the US. So i'd say 1100 USD for a week and you are fine!

Tsk tsk tsk, *pats the Brits on their heads* look how cute. You all keep talking there son. But let the adults take care of some things and then maybe there will be time for you guys.
GreatOne I am a big fan of yours but it is gonna be pretty funny to see Wolf make you and your friends look like lost children. If you do decide to spend that cash, of course.

Hello guys,
I've come here to explain the situation about Cannes.

The main organisers changed, it's not the World Game Cup association anymore, though they still help as they can.
We, the Soul Arena, who ran the SCV tournament (as well as others) at cannes the past few years will not manage it this year.
We couldnt find an agreement with the new organisers, and have a lot of work with the Republic Of Fighters events that will grow more and more as they come.
They are still looking for someone to run the tournament, hopefully they will find it soon, but the main organiser assured me that SCV will not disappear from the games line up.

But we all know why we all go to cannes each years, it's because of the after parties in the hotels, and that's a guarantee each year, as well as this year.
Some french dont know yet if they'll come since it's been announced pretty late, but I think that the more the event will come, the more players will register.
Your presence, as all foreign players, will motivate everybody !

So I hope to see you this year so we can take your money as always !

A few questions I can answer for now :

Any chance the SCV tournament will be 3/5 like any other SCV tournament in the world?
- they are still thinking about it, we might have a definite answer around the 15th january

Will the tournament have groups and seeded players?
- bracket double elimination, evo style.

What are the prizes?
- we dont know yet

Will the nationals tournament be organized?
- It might be different this year, still 5v5 but not as a standard tournament that we're accustomed to.
