I always wondered but what is that beside the skull? a gun?
also why is there a random grey/blue blob in the fire?

Fire burns hottest at its center, and often if it's hot enough it'll have a blue center. The gun is just sticking out of the skull, those are cracks and stuff

I did, depending on what you mean from scratch. I used a picture as reference so it's not all from my creative mind.

Here's another one I did in a similar fashion. I didn't finish it but whatevs. It's called a study, just looking at something then drawing it. Great way to kind of "figure out" how real life works and kind of push what you're able to do.
 
You've got some great works here. What programs do you use? And what kind of drawing tablet? Did you take lessons somewhere?

For any painting, I just use Photoshop Elements. For doing sketches or line art, I usually will bounce back and forth between Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop depending on what I'm doing. For straight up vectoring, I use Paint Tool Sai. If I'm doing something with more of a "manga" or comic feel I'll use manga studio. Here's an example of that;

As far as tablets go, I use a Wacom Bamboo CTH-470. It's kind of small but I love it since I'm more of a wrist guy anyway with my brush strokes. And no, no formal training.

These books, however, are goddamn fantastic and I recommend ANYONE read them no matter what their skill level is; http://alexhays.com/loomis/

Ah I see. I use a bamboo connect and photoshop CS6. I've never used paint tool sai. How different is it from photoshop?
And that picture you did with manga studio... wow, very clean lines.
Thanks for the great link. I'll be sure to check it out. I never seem to have any time to draw and I'm hoping to get some practice back in lol.

I'll have this thread on watch. I like the pieces you've put up. Are you going to color that one with Maxi and Leixia? It's cute.

Paint Tool Sai is the best program I've ever used for vectors. Easy and quick and still looks good. The painting works but really Photoshop is equal or better in every way in that regard. Sai isn't really designed for painting. So basically, Sai is great for line art and vectors whereas Photoshop is great for painting.

And I'm probably not going to paint anything for awhile since I have no idea where my tablet pen actually is atm... I need to buy a new one haha

I see! Thanks! I think I might try out Paint Tool Sai to use to sketch and then transfer the lineart to photoshop to draw then lol. I've been using Photoshop for five years now, and have been hesitant on using anything else. But it's probably a good thing to try something new and see how the results turn out.

Lol oh no! Best of luck in finding a good deal for a new pen and some good pen nibs. I couldn't draw for awhile cuz my nib was super low and I kept forgetting to order new ones. Anyways, I look forward to seeing more art from you when you return to painting!
