In a nutshell: The guy that was putting it all together was very unresponsive on the forums, the GAMME website was never finished, the Smash TO bailed out, questions regarding GAMME details continued to be ignored on the forums, Daigo was confirmed as not coming, then the guy cancels it. And somewhere in there was the guy trying to change the date of the event when it was only a month away.

I think the convention is still going on, but with no game tournaments.
 
in a nutshell, guy lied about japanese ssf4 players, guy lied about sponsors, guy lied about game pots, guy tried to cover his ass and change dates and lied about MLG bribing hi to do so. oh also the website...to the last minute...would take your money without asking who you were.

basically one big ass scam.

This is why I can't rationalize it when you have two majors in one months, let alone almost a week apart.
