GGL's X-play SC4 finals results (televised)

Here are the finals results for the 550 person online tournament that took place 2 months ago through GGL, in where Alex J, Black Mamba, CNP and I- were the 4 bracket finalists that were flown to LA to compete for 1st place live on X-play on the channel g4.

The semi-finals, pre-game commentary and final set will air on special episode of X-Play at 8pm on 12/10-- WATCH IT! Support more things like this happening in the future!

1. Black Mamba- Sophie/Lizard
2. Alex J- Voldo/Amy
3. Akazukin Cha Cha- Tira/X
4. CNP- Raph/Lizard

Summary- Our semi finals matches were round robin format, where we each played each other 2 matches, 2 times each, where each win was tallied. Alex J swpt the round robin with a perfect 6-0, while me and Black Mamba finished 4-2 each, CNP rounded it out for 4th place. IN DRAMATIC FASHION, me and black mamba had to play a tie breaker to see who would face Alex in the finals live on x-play. It of course came down to the last round, last match, but I have to hand it to Mamba, the kid adjusted like a pro and edged out my plethora of characters & gimmicks :p to get the spot. Mad props, very good reaction time and very aggresive counters to my style. Can't say enough good things about him, he's a solid up and comer. Watch our for this kid. Alex was easily the solidest player overall there, just needs some TV nerves :p CNP had some great Raph stuf and hopefully will get to some more competitions to get that crucial experience under his belt!

Next day we all were taken to he G4 building and appeared on the set of X-play. There Alex and Mamba squared off for the live finals, with everyone in the studio cheering them on. Though Alex was super solid in prelims, it looks like his TV nerves got the best of him, and Mamba again DISPLAYED a great adjustment to his game and beat Alex 2-0 to earn 1st place and all the bragging rights.
Both Alex and Mamba really played well all weekend, I was really impressed. CNP has a solid Raph, but his lack of offline competition really showed up when it came to defense. He still put up a great fight in most matches. Infact most if not ALL of everyone's matches were extremley CLOSE, every time. All my matches were quality, and my only regret is not stickng with X and being stubborn with Tira :(


Our parting gifts for being the 4 best players, was Limited copy of the game for 360 and a SC4 Hori arcade stick, tight!

Retrospect-

First of let me say, that this ended up being a great & exciting event. Not only were the other 3 finalists great guys and MAD fcool to chill with, but GGL was extremley accomodating and heeded a lot suggestions for future events and our curent one. The G4/X-play staff were all EXTREMELY cool and really made us enjoy our experience there! A lot of things went into this event and it all came together nicely, Mamba even got to plug 8wr.com on the air for his shout outs! Even though this was online and run a little bit on the sketchy side out of the gates (it was GGL'sfirst online fighter bracket, they learned a lot from it and our response to it), it really ended up being a great thing for us 4 players and the community in the end, I am happy I was lucky enough to make it and be a part of it.

To Alex, Jeremy and Chi- It was very cool hanging out, and I hope you guys consider me a friend in the future and I hope to see you at a LOT of future sc4 events! We had some wacky adventures, saw Lindsay Lohan get mobbed by papparatzi and got to hang out with some great So Cali players like Naomi, Spman, Aris and Vicious, mad good times! Jeremy watch out for that Monte Cristo son, you know it's gonna come back to haunt you! lol... Plus we'll always remember not to trust a sleep deprived Naomi with a GPS! :p Crazy good times even though that little punk on the plane made me sick x_x...sorry if I got anyone else sick.

I hope everyone who has G4 gets a chance to watch, we had some quality matches capped and it shold be a GREAT thing for our community. Please be a welcoming place to the newcomers that this may generate. Haha, let's hope they don't edit all the good stuff out ^_^;

Also, NAMCO now knows we are here (weird, but the reps there didn't know about this place or our hardcore community), I told them to contact Jaxel about advertising on this site, Jaxel let me know what comes of it.

Congratulations, to all of you. I will definetely be DVRing this. Hopefully this will just further enhance the series for people out there and give it it's due.

Good job to all, and I'm glad to hear it didn't end up being a zzz-fest. Hopefully this gets SC4 the much needed attention it deserves.

Definitely a great event! Props to GGL and G4 for putting this together. Everyone that I met when I was down there were mad cool and it was an honor meeting yall.

Alex - You are truly a beast and played hella solid all weekend. You can play quite a few characters at a beast level. Much props. Definitely learned a few Voldo stuff because he is gonna be my next character I want to make one of my mains.

Chi - Thanks for taking my money in poker, haha. Pretty much what Cha said, pretty solid raph, but just need to work on a few things. Nice matches. I guess it didn't really help that I play against Raph every day. If I ever go to Texas for a tournament, which imma really have to want to go to Texas, then maybe I'll see you there.

Brian - I'll have to hand it to you, you turned out to be a real cool dude. I had my doubts from seeing you on the CGS forums and whatnot, but it was fun hanging with you and consider all of yall my friends. We had some good matches and some close calls. GG's. I ate that Monte Crisco when I got back, it was great.... but then I paid for it the next day... #2 Tira in NY. (We all know who is #1. HAHAHAHA)

Naomi - Thanks for putting up with us and taking that journey to pick us up. I also realized that I forgot to give you gas money. If there is a next time, I got you next time.

Aris and Vicious - GG's all around. Learned some new things from the both of you. Vicious's Lizmayne is nice. We Love Money.

Like I said, great event and great times. When we were down at the studio, we were treated good and with respect. I really hope SC4 have more events like this in the future because this game has the potential to make it big.

I don't get G4, and I'd really like to see these matches.

Kowtow, I don't think there'd be a licensing issue. Even if someone's using a custom stick, they're still using licensed Microsoft peripherals because nobody's cracked the controller security yet. That means any controller that works with a 360 has had some money find its way into MS' pocket.
 
I dunno if they will allow it to be put on youtube. But each of the 4 finalists will receive a DVD of the show, so it should be awesome. Maybe we can convert to files and make it avaible to d/l through this site, we'll see how it goes. But if someone can tape it and try to get it on youtube, that'd be uber.

I'll record the episode, convert it, remove the commercials, and host it on a torrent for a little while. I'll post the link here. It looks to be a 30 min show starting at 8:00pm. There wasn't any info on it, other than it was a new episode.
