Good morning or evening depending on where and when you are reading this. I'll try and keep this short, I've been playing fighting games off and on my whole life but they have been mostly 2D I did play sc on the dream cast and some sc4 on the xbox, but never took them seriously. Well that's changing lol my roommate has put me on the right path that is sc5 and om hooked. I look forward to getting to know this community and who knows I may even be able to contribute something back. If I ever learn about the third dimension that is. I'm glad you're liking 3D fighting, which I feel soul calibur is the finest of its kind.
Having played both and competed in both, I can say that the community is as different as everyone expects.

I do think that 3D fighters, in general are based on reaction and less on timing windows. Yet SC5's inclusion of supermoves has lead it to become dependent on timing attacks...it is an interesting beast.

Nice meeting you! I've been playing since Soul Blade (I was 7 at the time and sucked at it). The addition of a meter has left me coping with the change though and it's as if I'm a new player again. Good luck to you and more upcoming fans of the series. :)
