Guide: Adding Your Videos To The Media Library

8WayRun.com has a very unique media library system that was written from the ground up. Adding a video is very simple. First you must know what video you are trying to add. The system will automatically parse the appropriate information based on the URL of the video; just take the URL and place it into the form at the bottom of any category page in the media library. Alternatively, you could also click the "Submit Media" link on the navbar.

After submitting "Retrieve Information", the system will try to retrieve as much information about your video as it can find, including the embed codes for the video and an appropriate thumbnail. The following information will be asked of you for your video...
  • Title:
The title of your video. Try not to include too much information. Its a good idea to include player names, dates, and tournament information (if applicable).

  • Category:
The system will NOT retrieve category information for your video. Just use the drop down menu and select the appropriate category. Categorize your video directly, or risk having it deleted by a moderator. Moderators are busy enough and they don't need the extra work fixing your videos.
  • Description:
Kind of obvious. Every video needs a description. Include as much information as you want; including extended tournament and player information. You can even include links to your own website, or stream where future events could be available to watch live.
  • Duration:
Every video needs a duration. Some services will not be able to supply you with this information automatically. If this is the case, please fill it in yourself.

  • Characters:
Character information for your video. I have specifically set it up so that these keywords will not be automatically retrieved from the service host. You must input character information yourself; this is to limit mistakes. Separate each character with a comma (,) and be sure to spell characters names correctly, or risk having it deleted by a moderator. Moderators are busy enough and they don't need the extra work fixing your videos.

Character information is normally required, but if for some reason you need to submit media without a character (such as if you are submitting an image gallery of photographs); just input a single comma (,) as your character information.

  • Automatically Create Thread:
If you select this option, a thread will automatically get created in the appropriate forum for your video. This thread will automatically be locked, but any comments posted on this video will automatically get posted to the thread.

After you save your media, it will automatically be placed into the library. Users are able to search for media based on category, services, user and character usage. Users can also search for specific strings in the titles and descriptions. Please try to refrain from posting videos to the library that do not belong to you; if you can, ask the author/uploader to add it first.

If you just want to embed video within a post, just use the Insert Media icon and add the URL for the video. The forum will automatically embed it. Is that what you are trying to do or are you looking to put non-SC media in the media library?

i was looking to use the medio embed format, which runs smoother on phones and stuff, to embed non-calibur media.
