Hands on Taki training.

Hey)

long time lurker, first time poster

I'm trying to be competitive but fair with Taki, making the real skills and not ways around those skills count. (i-e lag abuse, move spamming etc etc)

Personally i think Taki is a great character although not considered high-tier but who cares about tiers anyway as long as there's love for the character and her possibilities in-game.

If there are any Taki players willing to go online and just play casual matches while sharing tactics, trying out new combos and mind-games during the fights, and just having fun if all else fails then i think it would be a great idea to combine our efforts.

Anyone willing to go Taki-on-Taki for some hands on training online or offline if you're anywhere near eastern europe, then please PM me or just add me on PSN with the keyword "Taki" somewhere in the message.

Also i've read the idea somewhere on the other forums and it was something about "adopt a noob". Well the idea is great and while i don't consider myself a total noob, it would be really great for some of the really PRO or just great Taki players to participate. Just remember to have patience and go all out, because the victory is so much sweeter when gained in a fair all-out fight.
Multiple player game rooms could be really cool so you can watch the people currently playing and maybe pick something up as well. Also anyone knowing Taki well but playing other characters can join in for some much needed mix ups with all the different characters. Personally i can also go with Ivy or Mitsurugi if the need be.

Any Taki players loving the idea please add me on PSN - rad1osil3nce
I have a pretty good broadband connection clocking at 15mbs so the games should be relatively lag free)
oh and i'm in europe if that's of any concern

cheers)

We generally don't do an "adopt a noob" mentality here.

For the most part, the more experienced players have always been willing to help the younger players out.

Whether they listen is another story all together, but we try.

Every so often someone will keep something interesting to themselves, but for the most part, we are quite open about what we share.

The one thing that I don't appreciate, and I know I can speak for a few others in this, is asking a question that has already been answered. This usually come from not reading the already posted material before asking something and not studying up on thing, such as Taki basics before trying to jump to something more advanced.

-on a personal note, I really hate it when people us the move names... on the forums we generally go by move notation
-The only thing worse it using button names (ie. Y-button, square button)

Halister does have a point a harsh one at the end but a good point. everything in taki's soul arena pretty much sums up anything that you need to know about her. Halister has made a few videos on the ins and outs of taki just look through them and read along with us. Having a personal tutor online wont be any different if you just read other threads posted by us. And if you really want some critique post a match video and we'll give you some input.

otherwise stick around and read up lol. i had too and thanks to the community i learned a great deal from just reading it

I guess there was a little misunderstanding probably because of my choice of words)
sorry about that i'll try to explain what i really meant)

What i meant is and extension of the Taki players community)

I do not need to be trained like a noob as i've been playing the game since soul-edge weirdly skipping sc2 but other than that extensively playing se, sc1, sc3 and now turning to sc4. It is now my hobby as i rarely play any video games outside of a couple of my favourite franchises including SC. taki was always among my mains and i've chosen her as the first character to master in sc4.

What i lacked before is a strong community to practice my skills. I live in a small european ex-ussr sh*t-hole of a country. Playing against friends casually and converting them was really nice but anyone who tried that can tell you how difficult that can be. It's really not fun to be the best of the worst so to speak. Well now we have online but as anyone who played sc4 online can agree - 90% of the matches are kind of worthless. Lag is not an issue for me as the connection is really good. The players on the other hand is what bothers me sometimes. We have our kiliks spamming the 22AAA and 6A+B, amys spamming 6BBB and so on. Well that can be dealt with with just a little practice but that does not make for a fun match. You try to be reasonable with them but in the end it's easier to just spam 4A+B,B A+K, B+G back at them because apparently low guard is too hard to grasp)) I currently have one person whom i play either on the same level or one of us prevails because we're always striving to be better than the other and that's all cool but we also know each other's moves and tactics in and out and sooner or later it will get really stale.
Now getting to the point...

What i wanted was players sharing their strategies and tactics hands on while playing the game. I do not ask to pamper me or anything like that))) no) i just proposed a way of having fun amongst peers) That's why i said that it would be really nice to play against really good players because i think that experience is gained through action and the harder it is the better. Results will speak for themselves as they always do.
I yearn for good matches that's all. And i like to meet players sharing my love for the character. The point of this was doing so, while giving something back as well. Just thought that coming on humbly would be better but in the end it was just misunderstood. It's kinda weird that everyone here assumed that i am worthless or underage just because of the light-hearted tone of my post.

But whatever, if it's not your cup of tea - forget it) i will not complain) If the point of what i was trying to say is now clear than i hope to see you online and try to get my ass kicked as little as possible or even try to kick some of yours when the moment arises))

As for the reading and videos - i've watched all of them through and through, everything that was written here was analyzed and bla-bla-bla) while saving up for a ps3 and a copy of soul calibur. you guys bitch that a ps3 costs what? 600 or 500 bucks in states? guess how much it costs here? 800$ for a PS3 and 100$ for a copy of SC4 and all that at an average wage of around 700-800$ a month)) the minimum is around 400 ) i'm just writing this to maybe give a couple of examples of where i'm coming from with all this stuff i've been typing. being a console or fighting gamer is a bitch around here but i have no choice cause that's who i am))

cheers)

PS: I don't really remember writing move names or buttons instead of the standard format anywhere... hmmm

I found that even with a lot of sidestepping, it's difficult to beat Kilik spammers with Taki. She's fast but he breaks through her Wind Rolls and flips. I found that using the WR BBB PO 55B works wonders.

kilik spammers are the easiest opponents of all the spammers in my opinion. he's just too easy to read. but that has nothing to do with the topic unfortunately(((

Radio-halister was refering tp the other post on the taki thread list. he was realy confusing and what not

Radio, some of those comments were directed at someone else.

As for the whole playing online thing... playing Taki online is nothing like playing offline. She requires a lot of precision, hit confirmation and block recognition to play offline. You can punish all sorts of things that you can't online because of the lag and that completely changes Taki's game.

You can play online with people and try to share tactics but many of the higher level tech traps, resets, and punishment can't be done online. Some combos are very difficult to do online as well.

I don't make assumptions about your from your post Radio, there was nothing overtly stupid or retarded in it. It had interesting ideas, but you are trying for something (trading tactics) that is easier to do offline in posts than online with lag.

Even with 5/5 bars, there was still enough lag to mess up certain combos and setups as well as punishments.

I've stressed that playing Taki online is frustrating and impossible online, ever since the game came out. She requires too much precision and accurate frame management to be played online the same way you will offline or in a tourney.

I understand that you may not have the option of playing offline, but you need to understand that there's a lot of advanced Taki stuff that you just won't be able to do online. You can know all of it, but still won't be able to do it because of the latency.

Taki can punish her mekki cancel (ie. 2bA) with her A on block, but due to the move speed and response rate online, it is impossible to do the punish, where I can do the punish almost 80% of the time or more offline.

Thanks for the reply and i came to the same conclusion yesterday in an offline play session during which i happily realized that my guard impact and interrupt skills are not even closely horrible as i thought they were. All the desired g.i's went off, opponent's moves were interrupted when i wanted them to and so on. I guess that with the smaller impact window even the slightest split second delay can mean a whole lot more than it seems.
And to think i was seriously worried about my skill going down considerably since i got sc4 for some unknown mystic reason )))

Guess i'll just have to deal with it and look for european offline tournaments)

With tactics i meant mind-games and such stuff, but whatever) If it doesn't work this way properly then i guess there's no way around it. I can definetely see now that playing online can even be harmful to your skill level when it comes to timing and precision as i have noticed that good habits picked up offline die down a little while bad habits arise.

I still think that my idea is viable on a certain level and for certain things, simply due to the fact that playing online is still fun for what it's worth but finding good match ups is considerably hard because there's no easy search system or database for players

Sorry if i sounded harsh in my reply but the whole "we do not take kindly to your types" approach kind of got to me) You can probably delete the thread if it's no longer viable but i still hope that at least a couple of players will reply.

Thanks anyway
