Hi there! :D

Teksuo

[09] Warrior
Hi there! :D I'm Teksuo; my friends all call me Tek, so don't hesitate to do the same. ^_^

Not a lot to tell. Been playing Soul Calibur since SC2, love fighting games. Not a rage player; you won't see me rage quit or accuse you of being cheap (unless I can legitimately back up my claim with more than just "Uh...well...you just are!"). I love to listen to alt rock, punk and j-rock/pop while I game (oddly, I play RE5 better when listening to Dave Matthews Band). I'm a pretty friendly and respectful guy as long as you're not a jerk, in which case I become anti-social very quickly. And since XBox Live is populated with lots of them, I tend to become very anti-social online (Two tips to stay on my good side; 1. Don't harass lady gamers while I'm around; nothing will piss me off faster than seeing a girl gamer treated poorly just because she's a chick who wants to play, 2. My friends are my family; don't mess with my friends unless you get to know them on level where they're cool with you.).

But! That's why I'm here; trying to get out of my shell and learn from the community. While I like to think of myself who can hang with tournament level players, I know my current status my be considered casual by many as there are a lot of things I don't know or understand. I honestly want to get good enough to where I can be competitive one day or at the very least, just improve my game and have a better understanding of the game in general and lingo used in the community.

I'm not a total noob, and I'm no slouch when it comes to SC or fighters in general (I was the practice captain for a clan I was in for about a year before I left and I've competed in a handful online tournaments), but also recognize that there is always room for improvement and always more to learn.

Also, I have an obsession with Bacon, Nyan Cat, Doctor Who and randomly doing impressions and strange voices. If you can handle this facets of my personality, I think we'll get along fine. :D Look forward to talking with you guys in the months leading up to SC5, and maybe we'll play some SC4, MK9, DOA4, or SSF4AE in the mean time. :D

Thank you, and I promise to not be a trolling douche while I'm here. I'd much rather annoy you on mic so you can know I'm joking and we can both laugh while you curse me out through uncontrolled giggling. ^_^

11th and Bangoo; thank you!
Atikc; Yes! My main custom Kilik. I've got a ton of pics of my customs on my Facebook. I'm thinking about posting them to my flickr account to make it easier to post links to them on here.

Pocky Yoshi says hello. Pleased to meet you.

Edit: Well, we might get along. Just a bit picky with people on the mic(I'm very timid and anti-social). For instance, I just don't get all that friendly to girl gamers online for I could be talking to a 40yr old homo who lives in the basement with a voice changer. If it's real one, I only hope she isn't those "spoiled I want your attention" types. I unconditionally give it, but I hate chicks like that. However, I try to stay neutral and respectful to ones I don't like for I am a gentleman. As for friends, I'm just picky. If I like them, I'll associate. If not, I'll remain neutral and respect them for they are yours. Just don't expect me to just mingle in like I'm yours. You gotta earn my trust and make me like you a bit. While it may seem like I'm nitpicking you on the things that grind your gears with my vain self, it's not of malicious intent. Basically just testing the water before jumping in. Aside from all that, if you do things on here out of good intentions, Pocky Yoshi will warm up to you like a puppy. So far, he has a few similarities that he likes of you: j-rock, j-pop, and nyan cat. That makes me a weeaboo, but I usually am reserved and considerate to say it openly unless I feel like it. In any case, I'm done rambling and enjoy your stay. Na-mu.

Have I earned that respect yet, Pocky-Yoshi?

Pocky Yoshi gives respect unconditionally. But I will say, that Pocky Yoshi is neutral with you. And if you want to know what he truly thinks of you, PMs is where we shall head. This thread is for Teksuo and not us, buddy.

I completely understand your social stance on friends and women; especially the not expecting you to mingle thing. I've come to the understanding that not every needs to nor wants to buddy up to every person the come in contact with, thus, I'm very careful about mixing circle of friends. Also, if I see two people don't get along, I make efforts not to force them to hang out just because they're mutually friends with me. Fear not; should we ever start hanging out online, you need worry about being drag into large parties for "HEY, GUYS! I want you to meet Pocky-Yoshi! You guys should totally send him a friend request! :D You want his facebook??"

Tryston; very nice to meet you as well! :D

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT ME?!

To Mr. Teksuo -

I am not exactly what Pocky described. No way. We can totally just get online and chat and...

Serious mode time:

Welcome to 8wr! There's a ton of information here to learn, so you came to the right place for that. As far as tournament players - seriously, just take the venture offline whenever you get the chance. A lot of players get stuck in this, "Oh, I can't because I wouldn't win..." or "Oh, there's no chance for me to beat them..." etc. It doesn't matter, really. The Calibur tourney scene is full of friendly players. Even if you get smashed into the ground by everyone there, they'll be more than willing to show you where you messed up if you ask them seriously.

Honestly, that's how I got to where I am with the game. I didn't really think I'd win, or really stand a chance, but just bit the bullet and went when the chance came. Suddenly the next time I played, I was keeping up with people I couldn't before. :P

Anyhow, I wish you good luck, and hope you enjoy your stay. Any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

Thank you!

As for matches, online or offline, tournament or otherwise, I have no problem getting smashed into the ground. :D If you're familiar with Bleach, I'm like Ichigo; I'll beg you kick my ass so I can get stronger and better faster. I would rather be destroyed by someone who totally out classes me and learn that I have more to learn (unless you're *actually* trying to teach me something, then I'll naturally ask that you ease up, just so I can keep up) than have that same person go easy on me and let me win. Unless you push me to my limits, I'll get past them. I don't fear being beaten, I fear not being able to progress.

Hmm, you never mentioned which side of the country or which country you're on. It matters quite a bit for online games, but as long as the atmosphere stays friendly I won't care too much about latency.

I'll put that in bio, Lasercakes. Thanks for reminding me. I l live in Texas; for the *most* part I don't have a lot of latency issues with most people unless they're outside the US or have crappy connections. Occasionally, I'll have days where my connection is less than solid, but it's for the most part, I'm usually good. :D

I've got an appointment with some friends to play Gears later, but I would love to play sometime Norik. :D I'll added on live; if you're on now, we could bust out a couple of matches til they get on. :D
