I heard it from forums, never got my attention since it was a fightning game, and back there they I didn´t like them.

But then, I was looking for something new, I tried the demo of SCIV and I fell in love with Cassandra and the great gameplay. Then I bought the game, fell in love with SC too and also with fightning games =)

I was at a wallmart looking at gamecube games saw soul calibur 2 game siting in the glass shelf thought to myself that game must be good bought it and I have been playing every soul calibur game since II

I've been a fighting game player since the days of the original Street Fighter II. And I played a number of other fighting games (Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, Tekken) just long enough to decide that I preferred the Capcom fighting games, so I stuck with them 100%, not even bothering to really give any other fighting games a second glance (slight exaggeration). So, at some point, I was probably aware that there were fighting games with the word "Soul" in the title, but I didn't care.

Then, a few months ago, when I was on shoryuken.com, they had a preview for this great character creation system that had a game attached to it. So, that's why I bought Soulcalibur V.

I was... Real young! I played Soul Edge at a friend's, then it was the 1st game I bought when I bought my PSX :) I didn't have a dreamcast so I never played SC, but I played every single game afterwards. And I'm still a fan <3

I honestly don't remember how I heard of Soul Calibur. Just, one day I had it on Dreamcast suddenly and was hooked. :p The ONLY weapons fighter I played before it was Battle Arena Toshinden.

Onetime I went to my cousin's house and me were playing his ps2, because I didn't had one at the time. We played Soul Calibur 2. My sisters fell in love with the game, but not me. I got a ps2 and my sisters got there own Soul Calibur 2. I didn't care about Soul Calibur till I got Soul Calibur 3. I loved that I could create my own character. But what realy got my attention was Talim and Amy.

I first became acquainted with the series when Soul Calibur was released for the Dreamcast in '99. I remember being absolutely amazed by the beauty of the gameplay--because hell, even today those graphics are pretty damn fine!

Firts was Soul Edge but i was to young , after years a found the series again SCIII at firts i remenbered litles but when i see Sophie i was so happy to found this series again, gonna be true i had get a litles angry cuz i kinda thinked that Cassandra stolem Sophie spot but after i take her as main as well lol

I watched a video of a fighting game online, it was pretty cool and very fast.
Fast forward a while and I see a fighting game named SoulBlade with a cool Samurai on the cover. It was also by the same company that made Tekken (which I was a big fan of at the time, this was after 3 was released).

Bought the game, started it up. Wait.. that's the game in that video :O
I still remember the video. It had part of the opening and some gameplay, for some reason it was double the speed of the actual game? I dunno, but it was very fast and cool.

Loved the game since then, I think I became a very big fan around SCII. I never got the first SC since I never had a Dreamcast.
It was interesting to see my favorite character going on to become the poster boy of the series. Also interesting to see a character that appeared in the ending was the boss of the next game (never unlocked the hidden characters).

I'm still salty about not knowing about the input endings. I believed that a sword could never beat a rifle :<

I always liked fighting games so I've heard about it from magazines and such. But is not as I had money to buy every game out there, so it was just one of a long list. Until I played the arcade, and loved it so much I had to buy it.

Forgot to mention it was the Soul Edge arcade.

I started with SCII but I can't really remember playing it much as a kid because the disk broke like one week after my friend gave it to me. I really got into SC on SCIV. It came with my Xbox arcade. At first I played Taki and Mina; eventually I moved on to Siegfried. After enjoying SCIV and SCV I bought all the other SC games I could find (SCII and SCIII). Playing SCII after playing SCV not having a connection to it I didn't like it much the balance bothered me. For SCIII all I'm going to say is I despise it. Loving SC till this day. xD

Oh, God... I'm going to get so nostalgic here I might cry XD

Well, I remember being in the PX (my family is military) and running up to the arcade because I was such a gamer, even at nine years old. I saw the big Soulcalibur Arcade set, and I was instantly attracted because of Lizardman. I loved dinosaurs and geckos when I was a kid XD I think I played it once and I had no idea what I was doing but it was still a blast. My brother would never give me his quarters, though ;~;

Whenever my family would go to visit relatives, I would go to my cousin's house since she was about my age. Her brother had just gotten this glorious, wonderful video game called "Soulcalibur II." Every time I visited them we just crashed out and played that game. I remember doing arcade mode with Talim, and every time Cervantes or Voldo appeared I would freak out because they were scary and SO HARD TO BEAT! XD I also remember after defeating Inferno I would complain that it sounded like a cat dying, lol! xD I was a Yun-Seong spammer, as well XD

I had searched for SCII for five years before I found it at an old game shop in Lawrence, Kansas. Man, when I heard the theme song on Talim's stage I was instantly nine years old again. Soon I bought SCIII, IV and V and look at the nut I am today :D

Oh shit another SC play from Kansas! I used to live in Wichita until about a month ago. I hate OKC! >.<

Omgwtfbbq -- I thought I was the only one oAo /follow
High five, bro.
I know exactly what you mean. I had to find a FG group and pretty much build the SC stuff myself. Too bad I had to move, at least my friend took it over for me.

On topic: It would be awesome if there was a thread about when people first found their local FG scene.
