Making the switch from Special to Standard Vs.

Once again, I don't turtle. I just block. When you're playing spammers, it's usually a good idea to hit the Guard button every once in a while. lol

Even with the fast and often opponent-confusing manuevers of Xianghua.

I need to get better at grapple breaks. I do them often, but I don't know how it's happening. I thought it was because I tried to throw them at the same moment, mostly. If I'm on the edge and they're trying to Mitsu or Cervy throw me out, if I was able to break that throw, I wouldn't feel so helpless.

Grapple breaks are executed by pressing the same button (A or B) that is used by the throw. So when you suspect an A+G throw is coming, start spamming that A button to break it. If you're in danger of being hit by a B throw, spam that B button.

For example, Astaroth's biggest damage comes from his 63214B+G command throw. You can expect that most of the time, you'll be thrown with an opportunity for a B escape. However, your opponent may anticipate this and mix it up into an A throw instead, accepting the guaranteed damage over the possibility of greater damage.

I can tell you that online, I seem to meet a lot of players that use nothing but A+G throws, probably because they play by pressing the buttons with their thumbs and it's easy to hit A+G with a thumb because the buttons are all lined up nicely. I'd estimate that around 80% of throws online are A+G throws, so that may be another thing to watch for as you play online.

i actually find just as many people use b+g throw as a+g throw... its easy for people people to bind b+g to a shoulder button. it is however safe to assume more scrubby players will stick to one throw, whether it be a+g or b+g so best you know which throw is which for the characters.

it will be a lot easier once you get used to it, and much easier in situations where you expect it... like you say when you're at the edge

All of you that think so and so is a douchebag for doing X move that you don't like are the real douchebags. People can play however they want, it's up to you to defeat it. That's why we have a game to begin with. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

online i dont really break throws off reaction because im usually a sec late. so after they grab me one time they normally give away the setup for it, then i just mash the button i think as they run up to me. but ringouts are the best part of soulcalibur hands down. i never mind if someone rings me out, i shouldnt have gotten myself in that situation. but i deal alot of ringouts myself and some rounds i will take hits just to bait them to the edge for some filthy maxi BL KK.
