MilkBot Signing On

MilkBot

[08] Mercenary
Hey 8Way. Just joined since I can't get enough SCV info. ;) If we've met on XBL my gamertag is AznPB. (BTW, I get mixed reviews on my playstyle. Feel free to reply or PM me your thoughts on my Kilik.)

A little about myself:
- Many a year ago I played an amazing arcade game ONCE and it made such an impression on me that when I saw Soul Blade for the playstation, I had to get it. My favorite character was Hwang.
- The sole reason my parents bought me a Dreamcast was because I wanted Soul Calibur. Power Stone and Shenmue were just a bonus. Kilik became my new favorite.
- Then I played Dead or Alive 2 for the Dreamcast; I love their system. Then I bought both the Xbox and 360 just for the Dead of Alive franchise. Wasn't into Soul Calibur at the time because III was released for Playstation 2 only. Lame.
- I always thought I was great at fighting games. But as soon as you get whipped online, that's when your true skills start developing. At least, that's how it always is for me. So I fell deeply in love with Soul Calibur IV. Not because I felt it was superior than any of the prior installments, or because I was tired of constantly winning on Dead or Alive 4 ;) but it was because I grew every time I played online. And that's really what keeps me coming back to the online fighting community. This attitude of not necessarily being the best but rather being my own personal best - always improving myself. I get a kick out of learning how to dodge or punish a move that always gave me a hard time the day before or discovering some secret move not listed in the command list.

But yeah - hey guys. Have I played any of you before?

Welcome to 8wayrun! I don't think anyone here will be satisfied until we get our hands on the game ;)

Cool that you're always trying to get better. This is the perfect site to do just that.

Pocky Yoshi says hello and is pleased to meet you, Milkbot. He has two "harmful" questions he's gonna hammer you with:

Where do you live?

Do you plan to go offline one day?

Aside from those, feel free to ask questions when you're stuck. If "frame data" proves "difficult", click the link in my sig. If not, disregard it. As for being the best for your own time until SCV, here's the Kilik Soul Arena: http://8wayrun.com/forums/kilik.14/

And since you're an online 8wayrunner such as myself, I'll point you here: http://8wayrun.com/forums/online-mode-psn-xbl.44/

I will forewarn you that certain people may come off a bit like a "jerk" to you online, but shrug off the usual things you see and you'll be okay. If not, PM the matter or so to the friendly mods(watch out for Idlemind, he's a grouch. Just kidding!) or someone you feel comfortable to.

Anyways, happy thanksgiving and I hope to see you around.

-Pocky Yoshi

P.S. Namu Namu Namu Namu

Heya milkbot. As a strong supporter of lactation automation I'm happy you showed up. If you're looking to sharpen up your killik, feel free to check out his soul arena over here: http://8wayrun.com/forums/kilik.14/

If you're looking to play against some folks online from the site be sure to check out the online forum. People currently playing can usually be found in the good games thread:

As a personal aside, some of us are also looking forward to DOA5. I hope to hear more good things in future months:

I main helena in DOA 4. Couldn't say I ever got so good I got tired of winning. You main a ninja don't you?

@KiraxSummers> Howdy. I hope so. ;) Don't let me down 8way.
@Pocky-Yoshi> I live in Sacramento, CA and what do you mean by 'go offline'? Meaning entering into tournies?
@Izzy> Happy Thanksgiving. ;)
@FleshMasher> Thanks. I'm hoping 8way will help me and I can help give back one day.
@TerminatorCortez> I always play with the idea of using other characters. It's always hard to crossover once I get too comfortable with my main. Maybe I'll use Nightmare in Soul Calibur V. Who knows? If Xiba isn't my kinda guy I'll have to pick someone else!
@Ghengis_John> Ha! That's funny. I'm going to use that. And as for Dead or Alive, I believed that the best way to win was to be unpredictable. And the best way to do that was to, not only switch it up constantly, but to pick random at character select. :) The ninjas were in fact some of my worst characters. I just had really good fundamentals.

Well, that's if you want to. I would since it's fun. But other than that, I'm pretty sure there might be some 8wayrunners in Sacramento, CA.......

@TagYouRPregnant> If you think about it, isn't every fighting game essentially rock, paper, scissors? And thanks, glad to be here. You guys have a great welcoming committee.
@Pocky_Yoshi> I've always toyed with the idea and I think I would enjoy it. I'm just afraid since my style has been nurtured mostly through online play, I would be handicapped in these tournaments. Especially when you receive, "Oh! If this wasn't online I would've won and blocked this move and etc etc". But there's only one way to find out, eh?
@Luneth22> Do we have CAS contests here on 8way? If so, that'd be awesome. I'd love to enter.
@Mer1L> Hello and thank you. I think I will.

Hiya AznPB. I'm pretty sure I've played with you before on XBL. You have a nice Kilik. Those 22A frame traps are pretty godlike online and you use them to their full potential. I think I still have you on my friend list too. I am not sure. I have to delete people on there constantly to make room for new people, but I usually try to keep the best players so I can have some good challenges when I go online. Anyways, welcome to 8wayrun! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

It seems as though I didn't welcome you - how unusual of me.

Welcome! I'm sure you are ready to challenge the Pokemon Leag- I mean, us Eightwayrunners.

<Cue Pokemon Rival Music>

It's okay to play as you usually do online and lose to 8wayrun regulars/vets offline. They say that losing valiantly while trying to learn boosts your skill level faster than doing it online. Why? Online we have these tedious rules to help shape up solid mindset of a player. Offline? You spam anything you want and shape up faster than anyone who learns from online lol.

Milkbot: You live in Sacramento, CA? A friend of mine who I play offline with, NDK, also lives in Sac. If you're open to it, you should meet him for some offline gatherings sometime. We usually meet up once a month and play and a couple of times we've had other folks stop by for games. Playing online is ok but you get the true experience with this game offline.

I can't speak for other fighting games, but SC4 at its' most fundamental level is primarily a game of rock paper scissors. The only outside factor is reaction speed.
there's also knowing how to space properly, cover multiple options, stage positional awareness, and execution
